Title: Couple Clones *possible Spoilers For Other Series*
Description: Other pairings that remind you of C/A?

Yukari - October 25, 2004 10:51 PM (GMT)
Here are a few of mine.

Terra x Locke: Yes yes, I know they're not an official couple, but don't you think the way Locke rescued her from the Empire's soldiers then promised to protect her and help her get her memories back was cute? Isn't how Locke left Kohlingen after Rachel's accident because everyone blamed him for what happened, and how Terra was half-human, half Esper and used by the Empire because of this familiar? And similar to Cloud x Aerith's story? (Well, I guess Cloud and Aerith are the real copycats here since Terra and Locke are from FFVI)

Kirie and her lover: Kirie is the doomed shrine maiden from Project Zero (or Fatal Frame if you're in the US) and we never find out the name of her lover. Since she was a child, Kirie has been raised knowing she must sacrifice herself to stop the Hellgate opening and Malice spilling out. However, before the ritual she meets a young man who shows her the joys of the world and teaches her that life is worth living, and she becomes attached to him. Because of this, he is murdered by the Priests who conduct the ritual. Kirie's ritual fails because of her attachment to the world, and her soul can't rest. The sacrifice that Kirie makes is very much like the one made by Aerith, and her relationship with her lover is like Cloud and Aerith's.

Laguna and Raine: He's a soldier who protects the young Ellone, just like Cloud protects Marlene in AC. She's a gentle young woman who loves flowers. Laguna has a crush on the popular singer Julia, but they aren't meant to be, and he eventually meets and falls in love with Raine. Just like Cloud/Tifa/Aerith, wouldn't you say?

Anastar - October 25, 2004 11:12 PM (GMT)
All good examples, Madame Batolli! I always preferred Terra x Locke to Celes x Locke, even though they weren't a canon couple, for the very reasons you mentioned.

The couple that reminds me most of Cloud x Aerith has to be Tidus x Yuna, though. Even though their personalities were quite different, their stories had so much in common. Yuna thought she had to sacrifice her life for the Planet, and Tidus was her guardian, which is very similar to being her bodyguard... wouldn't you say? They were torn apart at the end of the game just like Cloud and Aerith were torn apart, too. It was believed that it would be impossible for them to get back together, too, and yet it happened two years later in FFX-2. I hope that's an indication of what will happen two years later in AC.

Materia Thief - October 26, 2004 02:27 AM (GMT)
hmm... I need to find that list I made...

ANYWAY, off the top of my head:

1. Yamato/Mimi (Matt/Mimi in America)- Yes...it's non-cannon...but still, it reminds me SOO much of Cloud/Aerith. They look VERY similar to Cloud and Aerith and they have the whole princess and the rebel thing going on.

Hello!

I made an addition on the title in order to make sure no one saw anything from another game they didn't want to. Remember this is a site for FF7 and people may not want other games spoiled (as Aeris' death was spoiled for me) so in the future can we all remember to mark spoilers for things not related to the Love Triangle. Thankyou!

FF_Goddess - October 27, 2004 01:05 AM (GMT)
I agree with Anastar about Tidus and Yuna. Also, I would like to add:

SquallxRinoa- Squall, the cold and brooding soldier... Rinoa, the headstrong, optimistic, outspoken "princess", who just happened to be a white mage/sorceress... Cloud was a cold and brooding SOLDIER, while Aerith was a headstrong, outspoken, optimistic "princess" (the last of the Cetra, heir to the planet) who was also a white mage. Cloud and Squall both changed a great deal throughout the course of the game. Their cold exteriors were melted by a beautiful, unusual woman. When did we see Cloud's greatest moment of emotion? During Aerith's death scene. And when did we see Squall's greatest moment of emotion? When he thought he had lost Rinoa.

Shadow Spirit - October 27, 2004 01:14 AM (GMT)
Apart from the FF series, here two animes that resembled Cloud and Aerith:

*SPOILERS FROM RUROUNI KENSHIN AND LOVE HINA (both in the manga version)*

1. Kenshin and Tomoe: Kenshin, before meeting Tomoe, was a merciless hitokiri (manslayer, if you translate that). He killed whenever he was ordered to, in order to make a new era. For him, he would kill any enemy that handles a sword. When Tomow met him, she actually made him change a lot, making him go less cold, and eventually, both fell in love (as I can guess). However, Tomoe ended up killed by Kenshin accidentally, in order to save his life. Much like Aerith, that changed Cloud for good, but died protecting the planet.

2. Keitaro and Mutsumi: apart from the physical similiarities in Aerith and Mutsumi, there's the fact there was a love triangle (sort of). In terms of relationship, doesn't resemble that much, but her personality is quite much like Aerith is many aspects: Mutsumi is quite "happy go luck" kind of girl at first look, but once you meet her, you see her observant personality, being able to tell what other people are thinking and helping them.

Thanks for amending the title of the thread, Raist! I realised after I'd posted it that I hadn't marked it for spoilers :ph43r: Oopsie!

And on that note, more spoilers for FFVI ahead.

I can't believe I forgot to mention Locke x Rachel.

Rachel accompanied Locke on his treasure hunts, but unfortunately during one of their outings the bridge Locke is walking on starts to collapse. Rachel pushes him to safety but falls and is injured. Because of her injuries, she loses her memories. Locke tries to visit her, but she tells him to leave because she doesn't remember him. A year after he leaves, the Empire attacks and Rachel is killed. Just before she dies, she regains her memories and the last thing she says is Locke's name. Locke is devastated and has her body preserved by the 'crazy old man' in Kohlingen. He finds the Phoenix magicite and tries to use it to revive Rachel. Because of the cracks in the magicite, Rachel is only revived for a short time. She uses this time to tell Locke that she never blamed him for her accident, and she dreamed of meeting him again. She tells him that he made her happy, that she will always love him, and that she wants him to forgive himself. This reminds me so much of Cloud and Aerith, especially Rachel's words when she's revived - she never blamed him, just as Aerith never blamed Cloud.

Couple clones?*giggles* Just all the other FF couples!
To my knowledge, from the beginning of time, all the main FF couples have been almost just like Cloud and Aeris!
Big, tough physically strong guy, and sweet, pure, innocent white mage. This was especially mirrored in Squall and Rinoa since the characters were so alike.
I don't think that Tidus and Yuna were terribly similar in the romance department(they got a KISS!), but circumstance definatly. Even though at the end the gender roles switched(Yuna living on without him).
But wouldn't ya know, not ONCE have I seen tough, physically strong guy falling for physcially strong girl. Gee whiz. :D

Yep, I haven't seen it at all in FFVII through FFX. Aerith, Rinoa, Garnet, and Yuna were ALL white mages, strong in magic, weak physically, and the hero's love interest. Cloud, Squall, Zidane, and Tidus were all strong physical fighters (the heroes), but weak mages. Tifa, Quistis, Freya, and Lulu were supportive females, friends to the hero, who were fighters, not mages. Are we the ONLY people who see a pattern here???

Actually, Rinoa was the second strongest character in the game, after Squall. But she's an awesome mage!
And YES, we ARE the only fans who see a DEFINATE pattern here! Even way back to 2/4(I dunno anything about 1) we've seen this pattern. Except for 3/6, where the pure white mage was strong like Rinoa.

Slayer - November 11, 2004 08:16 PM (GMT)
Well I love the love story between Cloud and Aerith, is a love which will live forever, no matter what happen to the world. Some simmilarities I found in every single couple on Valkyrie Profile (I am a big fan of this game)

Marionette - November 12, 2004 02:12 AM (GMT)
Any silent hill fans? I'm a HUGE fan of silent hill especially silent hill 2 and James and Mary remind of Cloud and Aerith...err in a twisted kinda way.

Indeed. Rinoa definitely has the highest strength stat out of the three female characters. Selphie has the lowest I think :) Rinoa also has a higher strength stat than Irvine and Zell but I'm not sure about Squall. A guide at GameFAQs shows that her strength stat is higher than everyone's including Squall's but I haven't completely confirmed that for myself yet. Although I did play some FFVIII without using junctions once and Rinoa's strength stat was higher than Squall's then. Wishing Star also did far more damage than any of Squall's limit skills when I was playing without using junctions.

To be honest I've never really thought of Rinoa as a white mage  I always use her offensively to great effect. If I was going to use her as a mage I'd probably use her as an offensive black mage. Quistis is my blue mage and Selphie is my white mage :)

Now onto couples that remind me of Cloud and Aerith. Laguna and Raine definitely do and recently Yuri and Alice from Shadow Hearts have started to remind me very much of Cloud and Aerith too :) I also agree with Strifelover about Tidus and Yuna, those two also remind me of Aerith and Cloud :)

Edit - Oh my I forgot to post this earlier *blushes* Sora and Kairi remind me of Cloud and Aerith too *^_^*

Don't forget about Quistis, who is the 'childhood friend' who likes Squall since the beginning of the game... Freya was also Zidane's childhood friend.

It's kind of weird that Rinoa has the highest strength... She's not even in SeeD, or even a 'fighter' background...well I guess since she becomes the sorceress (sp?) she is somewhat linked to being a mage.

Actually, I had a whole list about couples that reminded me of CloudxAerith, but I can't remember any now. :(

Sefie - November 13, 2004 02:23 AM (GMT)
What I meant about Rinoa's being white-magey really is her limit break. Whenever I use Angel Wing she always uses healing magic. Plus, she's the typical white mage: sweet, angelic, everybodylovesher

With the exception of Lulu, who isn't strong pysically, she's as much a mage as Yuna, just not a white mage. Black mages never end up with the hero. Lulu owns though, and her boobs are so real, darn Tifa fans!

*cough* Here ah go agein...

Angel Santuary: Sara and Setsuna Mudou

To anyone who has not yet read this manga, (or seen the anime, I have both, WHUAHAHAHA, the ONLY anime I own, except for those free previews from NTUSA, and *RANTRANTRANT*) you MUST do so, NOW!!

Although I'm well aware of the fact that Cloud and Aeris are not brother and sister, like Setsuna and Sara, their relationships are very similar. I'll bullet the stuff, because I don't feel like writing a well-developed paragraph right now...
- Setsuna is the re-incarnation of organic angel Alexial, a beautiful (female) warrior who led a revolt again God, and was "killed" by her twin brother, Rosiel.
- Setsuna gets into fights a lot, but his younger sister Sara always snaps him out of it.
- A psycho with long silver haired (Alexiel's brother, Rosiel) wants to reawaken the Alexiel in Setsuna, and makes several attempts to do so.
- Kirie, a young angel serving under Lord Rosiel, tricks Setsuna and Sara into coming with her to an abandoned warehouse. She hopes that by killing Setsuna, she can help Lord Rosiel.
- Kirie is about to fire an electric bolt at Setsuna, and Sara jumps in the way shielding Setsuna.
- In the anime, it is Katan, Rosiel's most loyal servant, who kills Sara. Prior to the tragic incident, when Sara and Setsuna are getting off at the train station (in Tokyo?), she tells him not to worry, "We'll never be apart again, as long as we're alive."

There are also many physical similarities between the two couples, Sara and Aeris's hairstiles are quite similar, the exception being that Sara has blond hair. Setsuna's hair isn't really spikey like Cloud's, but none of Kaori Yuki's characters really have wierd hair. If Cloud were to be drawn by Kaori Yuki, I imagine he'd look just like Setsuna, although maybe with a dash of sexy Kira-Sempai!

(Forgive my wimpy scanning!!)
First Death Scene *shiny eyes*
Second Death Scene *sniffly tears*
Third Death Scene *SOB CRY MEEP!!*

It's frightening how much Sara and Aeris look like each other in the death scene. Sara is wearing a light colored dress (either white, pink, or yellow, you just can't tell in a manga!) with a long dark jacket (looks red, but again you can't tell...). The jacket has the sleeves bunched up, so it looks a bit like Aeris's vest. Sara also has the dress, with a simple ribbon tied around her neck, just like Aeris. Sara then has her hair in a braid, which comes undone when she dies, like Aeris. This is probably symbolic (although I can't say for absolute sure), because short hair is generally a symbol of purity and innocence, and if you want long hair, you keep it back in a braid or pony-tail, or up in a bun, etc. She undid it herself at the station when she and Setsuna were confessing their love, right before they ran away together. It's usually symbolic of letting yourself go, of confessing, or of death. Sara's fatal wound is in the same location as Aerith's aswell. Setsuna even mentions how all he wanted was to see her smile... *sniffle* it makes me think of Cloud's statement on how Aeris would never laugh, or cry or get angry. He even holds her in the same way, and everything!! TRAGEDY!! I love SetsunaxSara!! The main difference between the two scenes is that Sara lives about a minute, and she asks Setsuna if he thinks that she can ever be happy...

!!ATTENTION!! Do not read the following unless you want to listen to me rant on and on about how I bought Angel Sanctuary and blah, blah, blah....
I was interested in the manga, but I couldn't get over to Seattle to get one, and by some miraculous stroke of luck, I found the rare, precious DVD at my local Blockbuster, the ONE time my mother actually decided to go rent movies! On the special features, there are some awesome character shots (plugs AS DVD) and the one of dead Sara looked just like Aeris. I was in utter awe. Then I got over to Seattle, and bought the first three volumes in Japanese at (plug) Kinokuniya Bookstore! I thought, of course the series won't be translated into English! Too much blood (although I didn't really think THAT was the reason), incest (even though nothing was graphic but the gore), and the anti-heaven theme-li-ness (even though Yuki said that it just made for a good story and that's why she chose it). Ha, little did I know that within two monthes of my proud purchase, what should I find in my Barnes & Noble, but Volume one of translated "Angel Sanctuary." Oh well, I know the plot of the first three volumes, and they were tons cheaper in Japanese! (English $9.99, Japanese $5.50, or $6.15 for the first one 0.o)

And I know incest is wierd, sure, but a LOT of wierd things happen in this series, so a brother and sister falling in love is the least of anyone's worries, BELIEVE ME.

More pairings soon to come!! *kiss* SCHMWAK!!

Clorith - November 13, 2004 03:46 PM (GMT)
Ooh yes yes! Angel Sanc is da bomb! I loved the anime!! Ah in the anime Sara's dress is light blue when she dies. I've always wanted to read the manga, but my friend's set is in Chinese!! And my Chinese is crap! *wails*

LockexRachel sounds very much like CloudxAerith. I haven't played much of FFVI, but are yall really really sure he fell for Celes in the end?

Real_Emotion - November 13, 2004 04:30 PM (GMT)
Lenne and Shuyin(from X-2) kinda reminds me of Aeris and Cloud, because their both tragic couples.

Lenne was a summoner and had to sacrifice herself in the war. She was willing to do so even if it meant leaving her love, Shuyin.
Aeris was the last cetra and went to pray for Holy, knowing she might never come back.
Shuyin was Lenne's lover and would do ANYTHING to prevent her death.
Cloud was an Ex-soldier and Aeris's love interest. When he learned Aeris was going to pray for Holy, he went after her.

While Shuyin was trying to use Vegnugun to save Lenne, Lenne comes up and tries to stop him, but both are killed by guards.
While Aeris is praying for Holy, she is struck down by Sephiroth. Right in front of Cloud's eyes.

Shuyin becomes an unsent. He blames himself for not being able to prevent Lenne from dieing. His desire to be with Lenne again was so strong, that he even mistakes Yuna as Lenne and wanted to kill off all of Spira.(Crazy, but kinda romantic is a twisted way...)
Cloud, also, blames himself for not being able to prevent Aeris's death. As we see in AC, he wishes to be forgive, but continues feeling guilty. In the end of the game, Cloud says he wants to meet Aeris again. His wish and desire to be able to see her again is seen two years later in AC.

At the end, Lenne and Shuyin reunite 1000 years later. Lenne wants Shuyin to end this, meaning for him for him to stop feeling guilty for something that happened 1000 years ago and she never blamed him for it.
In AC, Cloud and Aeris meet in a flower field. Cloud states that he wants to be forgiven. Aeris giggles slightly and says 'Forgiven? By who?' Aeris never blamed Cloud for anything. At the moment, we all don't know anything else that will happen between the two, but wouldn't it be cute if they ended like Lenne and Shuyin? Finally reunited and Cloud is forgiven and is with his love once again. Sigh....

Oh, is that the full story on Lenne and Shuyin? They've always intrigued me, but I can't bring myself to play X-2! I guess it must have been when people started calling it "Brother's Angels". :P Anyway, I've seen all the movie clips. From what you said, it seems like they're very much like Cloud and Aerith! Anything else I need to know about them? Loved "1000 Words", by the way.

Well, most people take Locke x Celes as canon, Clorith, but there isn't actually any confirmation that they did get together. They never professed their love for each other or kissed or anything like that, but they were very close by the end, and Celes took Locke's distrust of her in the Magitek Lab really hard. They're a little bit like CloTi in the sense that people take them to be canon because of Celes' obvious feelings for Locke, without taking into account whether Locke's actions mean he reciprocates those feelings or if it's just the way he is. But no, the only canon Locke couple is Locke x Rachel. ;)

Another couple I think is like Cloud and Aerith, but with the male/female roles sort of reversed are Momo and Kiley from the manga Peach Girl.

Competely spoileriffic, so DO NOT read on if you don't want to know who Momo ends up with. I've changed the text colour, but it's still slightly visible.

Kiley is the flirtatious, upbeat guy that Momo gets to know better after telling her friend Sae that she likes him (she doesn't, she likes Toji, but she doesn't want Sae to know that). She thinks at first that Kiley's just an arrogant pretty-boy, but it turns out that he's always there to support her during her ups and downs with Toji and Sae, and through her heartrending break-up with Toji. Kiley is the only one who has complete trust and faith in her. In the sequel, Change of Heart, Momo and Kiley start dating, but Momo thinks that Kiley is still in love with his first crush, Misao, and they break up as she can't deal with feeling insecure and second best. In the end, Kiley gets over his old feelings for Misao and realises he truly loves Momo, but she's back with Toji. Momo is still confused over her feelings, but although Kiley loves her, he wants her to be happy, so he lets her go. And after talking with Sae and Misao, Momo comes back to him.

I know!! It's wierd, but the flower field where Cloud and Aerith contact each other reminds me of the farplane. I can't remember which, but one of the creators said that VII and X/X-2 could be linked. At the end of X-2, Shinra mentions an energy that could be harnessed as a force powerful enough to run a city (I think), and that he wanted to find some way to extract it. He also said that it probably couldn't be completed during his lifetime. People speculate that maybe, hundreds of years later, on a distant planet, Shinra's descendants founded the Shinra electric company, trying to harness that same force from their planet. Mako!! Some the flowerfield scene where Cloud and Aeris are together could be related to the one where Yuna spoke with Shuyin, and where you go off to fight the final battle, the Farplane Abyss. That came from one of the creators, although I don't remember who... gosh.

Yup, you should trying playing X-2, in my opinion, it's really good. Or you could at least rent it.

I've heard about that too. I diffinately saw some VII connections in X-2. I was so surprised when I first saw Shinra in X-2. It's kinda hard to believe that little kid may have caused the events of VII.

Oh yeah, Sora and Kairi remind me a lil' of Cloud and Aeris.

In KH, Sora is searching for Kairi and refers her as his light.
KH Cloud is doing the same thing, only he is looking for KH Aerith! (so cute!)

Plus, who could forget the adorable hand reach scenes. Both couples had a hand reach scene!
In Sora and Kairi's hand reach scene, they actually reach each other, but are later pulled apart. They then promise to see each other again.
In VII, Cloud reaches out to Aeris's hand, but they never reach each other. Cloud then says he want to meet her in the promise land.

Well there was never anything official released about this, just some developer comments. I know there are many of those who are disgusted about the idea of these two games being linked simply because they hate X-2...even if they havent even played it.

Personally I am one of those who firmly believe that FFVII and FFX/-2 are linked, they gave us enough hints that this would be the case, Shinra and his comment being one of the obvious ones.

I find it extremely fascinating if this would really be the case, the idea of two different Final Fantasy games being linked like this fascinates me. ^_^

KidxSerge - Chrono Cross

More bulleted schtuff...

- Serge was out with his childhood friend Leena (and they actually DID know each other during childhood). Leena also cooks, like Tifa.
- Sergie gets pulled into another world, where he meets Kid. Cloud falls through a roof... same difference.
- Together, Kid and Serge fight off the Dragoon Deva Karsh (I named one of my rats after him. But then he died and I cried.), and two dragoons named Solt and Peppor. Aeris and Cloud meet and immediately afterwards fight off guards.
- Kid asks Serge to come with her, and you have to turn her down 3 times if you want her to leave (You would normally want to just accept though). She then accuses you of being cold for leaving a poor defenseless girl alone in the wilderness. It's similar to when Aeris asks Cloud to be her body guard when they're fighting off the guards...
- At Fort Dragonia, right after Lynx and Serge switch bodies "Serge" stabs Kid with her own dagger, and she falls to the ground in slo-mo, with eerie music in the background. It's exactly like when Sephy was trying to control Cloud, and make him kill Aeris, and the scenes are so similar!!
- A lot of stuff happens, that I really don't care to explain... but eventually Sergie gets his hot, sexy body back, but then Kid gets comatose almost, not quite sure what it is... Cloud finally gets his psyche straightened out, but by then Aeris is...
- As you near the end of the game, you find out a lot of important information, like about how Kid is the daughter-clone of princess Schala, the long-lost princess of Zeal, a magic floating kingdom in the sky. Aeris is an Ancient, and the Zealian royalty and the Ancients are very similar. Aeris is like the heiress of the planet (pun completed intended!).
- Schala is trapped, and Serge and friends must use the Chrono Cross to free her. This reminds me of at the end, where you fight Seph in order to free Aerith's soul...
- At the end, after all that, Schala and Kid re-fuse, and Kid is seperated from Serge. Both world's supposedly go back to the way they were. Aeris fused with the Lifestream to save the planet, as Kid rejoined Schala to save the world.
- If you get the perfect ending (i.e., you correctly use the CC, and save Schala), one of the last things you read is in Schala "Kid" Zeal's book, about (this is *pretty* accurate) "I will find you, sometime, somewhere, although you may not know that you are you, or I am I." The ending is long, but it's really moving if you've beaten the game and understand it all. 'Radical Dreamers: Unstealable Jewel' plays during the credits, and you see a bunch of scenes from the game, in-game, FMV, and some new stuff. It's really sad and made me cry. At the end of the credits, you see a new little FMV, of Kid, standing alone on a sail boat, sailing to the horizon the look for Serge. There is then a shot of a girl (Schala-ish) standing in a busy Tokyo (I think) intersection, and then you see a close-up of Kid's necklace in her hand. There is also a photograph on her desk (you see it as the journal closes) and it is of Schala and Serge.

So complicated, so little time!! Chrono Cross was the first RPG I ever played, and I believe it remains my favorite to this day. It really spoke to me I guess, the characters, the plot, the vivid landscapes, and I was wowed by the FMVs. I love that type of a game. It never got as much glory as the Final Fantasy games, and a lot of people didn't think it was a good sequel to Chrono Trigger (which I still want desperately to play), but I loved it. The music was the best you will EVER hear!! I would buy the soundtrack if I could find a store that has it. It was beautiful, everything was perfect. PERFECT I SAY!!!

Anyways... SergexKid are very similar to CloudxAeris, especially in their personalities. Serge is very quiet, just like CLoud, except maybe more so. Kid opens him up a lot, although she's loud and open in more of a tomboyish way (Schala was ladylike, like Aeris). Although the white top and miniskirt are more like Tifa (the mini is red though), she was a red vest like Aeris, and has her hair up in a ponytail/braid with a bunch of red ribbon. Her face reminds me of a Aeris's, even though her coloring's different... She also has Aeris's boots. If you've ever read Furuba (Fruits Basket), in the 4th Volume's author notes, on the side, she mentions playing Chrono Cross, and how Serge was a lot like Cloud, and I agree! It was, (and only because I have it with me at my desk...

Lately, I've been playing Chrono Cross.  I wasn't interested before, but I saw the commercial in the game store and I thought, "I have to play it!"  I was caught in their trap.  Completely! (ha ha)

I started crying when I saw the opening.  I thought, "How very, very sad!"  And "Oh, poor Serge.  I want to protect him."  That's proof that I'm totally hooked!  He's like Cloud.  (But it's worse for Cloud.)  Square really does always have good music.

See? Natsuki Takaya agrees with me!! THE MUSIC ROX!! And Serge is like Cloud.
And the end, Serge wakes up on Opassa beach, and Leena is there. It's as if the whole adventure was nothing more than a dream, like he passed out on the shore. But we know that Kid is still out there looking for him, and that she finds him... we hope.

I think there is supposed to be a sequel called Chrono Break, or something, but Square is so focused on FF right now I don't think they'll ever really get to it. But I'll keep mah fingers crossed!

Oooh, that was so interesting to read! Yep, I've seen a music video for CC. The girl has a ribbon, right? Reminded me of Aerith! The music video had them getting married too!! Guess that was from CT.

There's also the fact that the glowy stuff left by Vegnagun looked a LOT like lifestream!

Hee, allow me to showcase some very interesting pictures...

Notice the *PINK* swirls mixed in with the green in the picture from VII?
Coincidink? I thunk naught... durr.

On another note, isn't it sad that the in-game shots from X-2 look better than the FMV shots from VII?? Oh well, Cloud is mah world, so I don't care... :)

Well I would be surprised if that was not the case. FFVII is old, soon it's been 8 years since it was released. Gee...I can't believe it's been that long, it really makes me feel old, even though I'm not! <_<

While I usually dont like the idea of mixing games together like KH does, I am awfully fascinated by the idea of seeing Yuna and Aerith together in a game that does not involve Disney.
Same goes for Tidus and Cloud. Yuna and Aerith would get along well, I'm sure, but Tidus would propably annoy Cloud bit too much by being bit too jolly. Maybe Cloud and Squall would get along better...or Cloud and Auron! Wee, now my imagination is flying again. :P

Clorith - November 15, 2004 11:28 AM (GMT)
LMAO!! Oh no, you're making me wonder too! I think Cloud, Auron and Squall will gang up and slice poor ol' Tidus to shreads. LOL!!

I can just see Aerith and Yuna braiding each other's hair. ^_^

You never know though, Tidus is a little bit like Zack, Auron and Cloud might tolerate him... Squall I don't know about. Of all the FF8 crew, Tidus reminds me the most of Zell, and he and Squall seemed to have a love-hate friendship, ya know?

I know!! Although one thing still puzzles me...
How did Yuna grow that long braid in two years? I certainly don't remember her having it in X, and I have the mega delux FFX-2 Strategy Guide, with a FFX/X-2 artbook... Christmas was verrry good to me last year.

Sefie - November 16, 2004 01:39 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I've wondered that myself. My theory is that she attached one end of a rope to her hair, and then stuck a tuft of hair in the other end. *nodnod* It's the only thing that makes sense!

Enima - November 22, 2004 09:13 PM (GMT)

Honestly, lately now that I recap on the novels I've read and movies I've seen, there are a few instances which remind me of Cloud and Aerith.

Have any of you watched the Final Fantasy movie, Final Fantasy: The spirits within? If you have, then I think you can find a few coincidences in the movie and characters.

The main characters are Aki and Gray. The first one I saw was that Aki was a doctor and Aerith was a healer, then Cloud and Gray were both soldiers.

Then there's the bit where Gray sacrifices himself just to save Aki, which reminds me so much of the death scene and the hand reach scene, but switched.

It's not only there, but in Ayashi No Ceres, but I dunno if it's counted or not. This one reminds me more of the Kingdom Hearts Cloud and Aerith.

Aya is a celestial decendant and Touya was formed from Mana. They met when Aya was a little girl and when she left, Touya went to find her, but lost his memory in an accident. He was subconciosly searching for her while trying to regain his memories and eventually found her.

It's a bit like Cloud searching for Aerith, as both him and Touya were searching for something which were important to them :) .

There are more, but I couldn't remeber anymore at the moment. :P

Oooooh, THAT'S what's up the intro! Sorry, off topic*beats self*

Enima - November 24, 2004 05:55 PM (GMT)

Ooops, forgive me for confusing you.
My fault for making it look like something out of the topic.

Oh yeah, I just remembered. There was a scene in Megaman/ Rockman X 4 which reminded me of Aerith's death scene but a little different. The characters were Zero and Iris.

It was the scene where Zero had defeated Iris , who sought revenge for what he did to her brother. When he defeated her, she died. Then he screamed out loud something and it ended with him shouting, "What... What am I fighting for !!!" as he holds Iris's dead body.

Seii Monogatari - December 31, 2004 10:04 AM (GMT)
Inuyasha, there are two different ways to view this, and I have provided an explanation of each so no one should have any hurt feelings, kay?

First, Kikyo x Inuyasha. Inuyasha and Kikyo were in love. Kikyo was entrusted with the Shikon no Tama (Jewel of Four Souls), like Aeris was the guardian of Holy. The artifacts even look similar.
Kikyo was going to turn Inuyasha into a human, and purify the Jewel. Aeris was going to use Holy to save the world.
Naraku, disguised as Inuyasha, fatally wounded Kikyo. Cloud was being controlled by Sephiroth, who was, in a sense, "disguised as him." He was acting through Cloud's image.
*Note: From the point of view of someone who is in love with the Inuyasha x Kikyo pairing*
After Inuyasha is revived, meets Kagome and sees Kikyo resurrected, he finds that he still loves Kikyo. It doesn't matter if she's dead, or in a false body. Even though Kagome is there, and has feelings for him (like Tifa), he stills loves Kikyo.
He continues to go forward and fight Naraku, to avenge Kikyo's death in large part, as Cloud battles Sephiroth for Aeris.
Kikyo has immense supernatural powers, as does Aeris.
Inuyasha always feels Kikyo is with him, as Cloud always feels that Aeris is with him.
Cloud always feels guilty for letting Aeris suffer such a fate, as does Inuyasha with Kikyo.

Then, Kagome x Inuyasha.
From the point of view that Inuyasha loves Kagome, not Kikyo.
When Kikyo and Inuyasha were younger, they had were quite infatuated with each other, like Cloud's crush on Tifa. Inuyasha watched Kikyo in her bathing robes as she washed in the river, like Cloud watched Tifa through her window.
Cloud joined SOLDIER in part, to gain Tifa's attention, and to become a part of her group of friends, as you might say was the reason Inuyasha wanted to become a full human. He wanted to be with Kikyo and the villagers; to be accepted.
Inuyasha fails to prevent the disaster caused by Naraku, and couldn't save Kikyo, as Cloud couldn't prevent Sephiroth from harming Tifa.
Once Kagome frees him from the tree, (like when Aeris helped Cloud in the flower bed), they become a team, though less willingly than Cloud and Aeris.
Inuyasha always protects Kagome, like he was unable to protect Kikyo.
Kikyo is revived, but it is too late, because Inuyasha is already in love with Kagome.
Tifa is too late because Cloud is already in love with Aeris.
Kagome is open with her feelings, physically weak, like Aeris, but strong emotionally. In many ways Tifa is also like Sango, the physical fighter who has trouble expressing her emotions.
Inuyasha is the cool one with the big sword (Tetsusaiga, not that one, pervs! lol...)...
Kagome heals Inuyasha's heart, and all of the wounds left by his memories of the Kikyo conflict and Naraku. Aeris opens Cloud up, and makes him smile, like Kagome does for Inuyasha.

I know there are other similarities for both sides, I just can't for the life of me remember them right now  .. I'll add more later ..

Carmencita - January 1, 2005 02:08 AM (GMT)
Well... this isn't from a game, but rather, from a movie...

There's this film called "Three," which is composed of 3 short horror flicks. One of them is entitled "Going Home." I think it's from Hong Kong. Forgive me if I get any details wrong. Anyway...

I've forgotten the names already, but there's basically this doctor who lives in an old building.... he has this neighbor, and the neighbor has a kid. After a series of misunderstandings, neighbor ends up being held captive in doctor's apartment, and neighbor finds out there that doctor has been keeping and taking care of a dead woman in his apartment. Doctor believes that his wife, the dead woman, will come back to life after the Chinese herbal baths he's given her for quite some time now...

The ending? It's quite frustrating. =_='

Okay, it's kind of far from Cloud and Aerith's story, but the Doctor's devotion to his wife didn't falter after her 'death'.... only grew stonger. Kind of reminded me of Cloud/Aerith in that sense. :P
