The story is about....

QUOTE
The title of this game fit very well with this game. This is indeed a profile of the goddess, Valkyrie. Mostly about who she is and where she came from. Before playing the game, you can see or watch the story prologue. The story prologue is very important to the story best ending as they are both connected to one another. The prologue begins with two children. A boy name Lucian and a girl name Platina. After finding out that her parents were going to sell her off as a slave, Platina and Lucian decided to run away from home. Aftering running off, the two kids ended up in a deadly place called Weeping Lilys. It appears that if anyone who isn't strong enough inhale the lilys, they die. Platina being a little girl and isn't as strong as Lucian dies. The prologue then ends with Lucian crying over the death of Platina.
Now fast forward to the beginning of the game. The game begins with the Odin, leader of the gods, summoning one of the three goddesses of fate. Valkyrie, the lead (female) character just happens to be one of the three goddesses of fate. Valkyrie is the goddess of chosen souls for your information. Getting back to the point, Odin has summon Valkyrie because a war is going to break out in Asgard, home of the gods. Basically a war of the gods. Odin has summon Valkyrie for a purpose. That purpose is to gather the souls of dead heroes in Midgard, home of the humans. With this objective at hand, Valkyrie sets off to Midgard to look for fallen heroes. Now this is the basic of the game quest and the story. Valkyrie will use her power to find the next character that will fall in battle. You will then get a small background story sequence to that character. Afterwards, you move onto the next character to fall in battle. Now that doesn't look like much for a storyline, does it? Each of the small background story sequence of the characters that join your party does in a strange way fit together but they're more of a jigsaw puzzles and you have to figure out what order of the story sequence goes where. If you play the game the second time around, you'll probably have a better understanding of these small story sequence. Still the story is very lack luster. So where's the love story in this game. The key is getting the really good ending to the game. The game's real story is so hidden like a secret side quest that you really have to try hard to unlock it but it's well worth the effort. Okay, it doesn't take much of a dumb person to figure out that Valkyrie is the little Platina girl that died in the Prologue seeing as they looked exactly the same. The key is to try and trigger an event that will start to bring about Valkyrie past memories back to her. This of course involve, Lucian, one of the fallen souls that Valkyrie gathers who just happens to be Platina childhood boyfriend. Lucian starts off like a dull character but quickly becomes the male counterpart of Aeris. Which explain why I've quickly grown to love Lucian as one of my best male rpg character. Without going into too much details. Lucian while trying to bring Valkyrie memories back met up with Loki, Valkyrie Profile's Sephiroth. And we all know what happens when Sephiroth met Aeris. So I won't explain what happens next. Needless to say, Valkyrie soon got her memories back only to find out what happens to Lucian.

Awesome that you'd bring this up.

Square-Enix is actually coming out with two new Valkyrie Profile games.

First is a ramake of the original with extra FMVs and such for teh... PSP!! Whoo! I'm buying it for sure when it comes out.

And second is a sequel with another Valkyrie as the main character. "Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria"

They even said that they might even make a port of Vakyrie Profile: Silmeria for the PSP...

When I first played the game a few years ago, I saw the opening sequence and eventually the prologue leading into the main story - and from there, I knew it was going to be one of the best RPGs I've ever played. I was once declared my soul to this game, yes, because this is Norse mythology at its prettiest, and uh, I was addicted like whoa. The tragic stories behind each lost souls were what got to me though.

And Lezard Valeth. Damn you hot necromancer. *shakes fist* <_<

You did play it? WOA!!! Can you tell your experience with that battle system? I'm kind interested in it :P hehe..... now I want more and more this game ^^

My brother and I played this! I mean, the one featured in the first post. I didn't even know enix planned to create a new one.

It was an excellent RPG, though, being the norse-myth!nazi that I am, I kinda had a tiff about the valkyrie being the, well, I suppose that'll be a spoiler, so never mind. That and the fact that I couldn't explore the world as much as I want to (like in other RPGs) because there was a time-limit (i.e., you spend a day when you enter a village/town and 2 days if you enter a cave/places where battle/treasure can be found) before Ragnarok (the end of the world) occur.

I loved the magic-casting the best, I think, because there really WERE spell-casting. I mean, before a spell was cast, the magic-user says an enchantment that is, well, long compared to other games.

And there was avoice-acting! A character you can play at the start, the goddess Freya, says something like, "You think you can beat me?" in a really, uh . . . haughty (?) voice but it was good. Lenneth also has some really snappy dialogue while fighting too. (sorry I forgot what they used to say. I used to memorize it, but it's been so long.)

Anyway, my point is: It's really good.

And I've rambled long enough without really saying anything, have I?

Sorry... ^_^;

*agrees wholeheartedly* Though his voice leaves a lot to be desired . . . when I saw the credits and realized this was also the voice of, uh, Arimgrim (I forgot the spelling! =_=), I was impressed with the VA. :P

"Only some details of the story are given to us: Silmeria(her soul probely) is catched in the body of Alicia, so Alicia has now 2 diferent souls in her body. Odin has sent Arlie in order to protect her. As Silmeria wakes up, she gains all her memories again, though she cant use her God-power, but instead of that she meets a lot of her former friends again and lend their power." For those who already played Valkyrie Profile knows surely that Silmeria is chronologically the Prequel to the Original.

Sorry for my bad English :P

Now, bear it in mind that it's been years (six, five?) since I've played it, so I couldn't remember much about it. Basically, the attack controls include the four buttons of the controller, and pressing some can result in a combination of attacks. I'm pretty sure you can change weapons (from sword to arrows for Lenneth) in the middle of the battle, and uh, the battles range from easy to hair-tearingly difficult (but that's just because I couldn't figure out which weapons are suitable to attack the enemy. :P ) These are minor details though - you can upgrade/buy new equipment in a really... unique way, I can't say I love it, but it doesn't bother me. :)

Not helpful, isn't it? :lmao: I never paid much attention to the gameplay because I was blown away by the story and graphics.

What Parikala said about the time limit. :) But though I hate time limits, this doesn't bother me, because usually when I complete my quests, there's always a few days extra for me, so I spend my time visiting towns or hang out in the Cave of Oblivion to boost my characters up before waiting for the next chapter.

What has been a unique experience for me in this RPG, is the tragedy of the stories behind the lost souls that you have to send up to Valhalla. It has a shoujo tint, I would say, though it's far from being shoujo, but I guess it appeals more to female fans, especially when you consider the backstory behind Lenneth and Lucian, as well as Lenneth and Lezard.

...And I'll just shut it now. :P

Parikala: I've always rooted for Lenneth and Lezard... maybe it's just because I've this thing for psycho necromancers who produce their own homonculus for them to smooch. (RE: the opening scene with Lezard and a naked Lenneth) :o

Lady_leBLanc - February 11, 2006 08:29 PM (GMT)
Thanks for your effort, that sounds already interesting ^^ but in the moment I'm more interested in Silmeria than Lenneth, I mean the story of Silmeria. The original Valkyrie Pfofile is about the tragic love story between Lucian and Lenneth, so what about Silmeria? The boy with green hair and eyes on the scans is named Rufus, I was very shocked when I read that in the official jap. homepage of VP

Please visit :

His name reminds me always of Rufus of FF7 ..... I really like his look, somehow I feel that he could be the next Fantasylover for the fangirls :D

*hehehhe...*

Edit: More details of the story of Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria

QUOTE
The game will take place in the same world as the original Valkyrie Profile, albeit several hundred years earlier. The city of Dipan, which was a ruined realm in the original Valkyrie Profile, will be appearing as a prosperous kingdom. The magazine hints that Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria may reveal what led to the Dipan's downfall.

In Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria, the player takes the role of two characters named Silmeria and Alisha, who coexist within the same body. Silmeria is a Valkyrie and the younger sister of Lenneth, the hero of the original Valkyrie Profile. Alisha is the kindhearted princess of Dipan. As punishment for angering the god Odin, he traps Silmeria's soul into the body of Alisha, and the game tells their story.

Actually, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth... a remake of the first one for the PSone is out(right now) for the PSP...

So good news for the PSP owners, it's 40 bucks for them.... For the non PSP owners... Well, you could either buy the PS version for around 60-100+ bucks or buy a PSP and VP for 240 bucks (Plus tax)...
