Paint Shop Pro 9 for me as well. I love it so much ^_^ *huggles psp9*

I have Photoshop 8 CS, which I use for heavy-duty graphic-editing (avatars, icons, layouts etc.); and Photoshop 5 for small-scale image-resizing and such.
Even so, very often, I find myself using Photoshop 5 for layouts. I've been using that version for so long, it's hard to make the switch to ver. 8.
I've heard they're very expensive too, but I'm using the, ah... "friendly" version. :whistle: I certainly don't think the originals are worth getting for people like me, who just want to play around a bit. ^^;

I love my Paint Shop Pro 9. It's my second love, my first was Paint. But I still can't do much any graphics.

PSP7! When I got the hang of it, it was quite easy to use, but I suck. I used to have PaintShop, but it messed up...
Amathala - February 5, 2006 05:07 PM (GMT)
Photoshop all the way! w00t!!! I find it easier than PSP, though it takes up more space, all your stuff is right there for you, you dont have to worry about tubes and that kinda junk...
I also use the....*ahem* "friendly" version...that program is just too expensive. I'm thinking about trying GIMP though, it's supposed to be really good, and I think it's free too!

Photoshop 7.0 (full)! XD. I remember the days I used ot use paint...-sigh. My friend told me that 7.0 isn't much too diffrent and the same as 8.0/CS.
Luna-Nayru - February 5, 2006 06:26 PM (GMT)
I use Adobe Photoshop 8 CS (full), and Adobe ImageReady CS (full) for animations, and a Wacom tablet. I started out using a good ol' mouse and PSP 6.0, though. :D
i pRomiSe** - February 5, 2006 07:03 PM (GMT)
PSP8. I love it so much. I first used MS Paint, but then my dad gave me PSP8. YAY! And that's what I use to make my graphics with today. x3
Real_Emotion - February 5, 2006 08:03 PM (GMT)
I started out using MS Paint, then a trial version of PSP9, and now I work with the full version PSP8. ^_^ I'm envious of all you people that have photoshop. I really want that program. I'm planning on getting Photoshop soon for my birthday, though.
But, what version of Photoshop is better to get for an person who doesn't have that much experience?
Yuffie_chan - February 5, 2006 10:29 PM (GMT)
i use adobe photoshop but since most ppl who use psp put my sig to shame i might switch over lol ^^;
Lynn - February 5, 2006 10:37 PM (GMT)
Yuffie-chan, it's like having a car. Part of the speed depends on the machine, part of it depends on the driver. So don't worry about PSP users producing better work than you-- it just means they've been at this graphics thing longer than you, have more experience etc.
Keep at what you have. Photoshop is as good as it gets, really. Keep practicing, know your software, and you'll do fine. :)

I'd suggest getting one of the later ones, perhaps around 7-9. Not only are many brushes made for the later versions, but you'll adapt to the new features much more quickly than changing from, say, v5 to v8. I've been using the former for so long, it's a daunting task for me to make the switch over to the later versions.
Or maybe I'm like the old oak tree in that parable, who isn't flexible enough to adapt to changes. :P

Speaking of Wacom tablets...what kind do you have and do you know how much it runs? I'm going to be looking into getting one once I get my other computer back...I think it'd me much easier for me to draw on the computer than to draw on paper, scan, put it in photoshop and color it in...I dont have the time or patience for that anymore.

FinalfantasyForeverx3 - February 11, 2006 10:54 PM (GMT)
Wow that's surprising. I've been using psp for the longest time and I tried to use adobe once "trial" it seemed so complicated to me,maybe it has a strong learning curve?,or maybe the interfaces are just really different
Cetra_Aerith - February 12, 2006 10:19 AM (GMT)

:hyper: REally thena-chan? :huggle: thankies so much !!!
I tried saving the transparent background in a gif file  but it doesn't work >_< do you know why?
i pRomiSe** - February 12, 2006 11:30 PM (GMT)
You're welcome. :) :huggle:
When I save transparencies, I save it in .PNG. I don't know why it doesn't work in .GIF. I tried it; I think it has something to do with the 256 colors or something. Make something, save it in .PNG. It should work. Um... Don't put any color in the background. I don't know if you do. But if you do, yeah. No colors in the background since it's 'pposed to be transparent. When you click 'New', make it transparent, raster layer (well, that's what I do. I never really cared) and work from there.
I suck at explaining things. If you need anymore help, PM me. :]
Cetra_Aerith - February 13, 2006 01:18 AM (GMT)
thankies thena :huggle: *runs off to try it* :D
lenne - February 13, 2006 07:56 AM (GMT)
I just use psp8
(my sister is trying to get me PhotoShop)
FinalfantasyForeverx3 - February 13, 2006 06:06 PM (GMT)
How I do transparencies is a little different....first use the free hand tool to select the area you want than edit cut...paste as new image...than select like a hot green a color you know isn't in it...than use the bucket to fill the areas that LOOK transparent...than file export gif optimizer...choose the green color "areas that match transparency" click ok than save.
