Title: How Cloti's Are Made.
Description: How do you think CloTi's are made?

Alright, I've been thinking about this for a while, and came up with this.

Let's list a few things CloTi's are widely known for.(A bit of steriotyping, not ALL CloTi's are like this, just the majority.)

-They refuse to listen to reason.
-They usually don't give valid reasons as to why Tifa and Cloud were meant to be.
-They completely dismiss any information that supports CloudxAeris
-Etc etc etc

Alright. Lets continue...

Just a little while ago(Maybe around a month or less ago.) I encountered a couple of arguements that were similar to a CloTi/Cleris arguement with my friends, and I think I've ound out what makes a CloTi.

In both arguements(Both arguements involved a certain anime and manga), my friends barely listened to what I had to say and just brushed everything off as if it meant nothing, and the reasons why they thought they were right were completely biased and some of thier reasoning barely made any sense.

Now there's a reason why they thought the way they did. And it was that they made a desicion on it right when the anime/manga started.

(I hope I'm making sense right now... o.O;)
Anyway. Onto what makes a CloTi.

I believe most CloTi's are created because, at the very beginning of the game they already decided on Cloud and Tifa. Perhaps they decided at the Nibelhiem flashback. Now the reason why they would be so hard headed about not accepting Cloud and Aeris would be because if they were to choose Cloud and Aeris it would be like abandoning Cloud and Tifa. Example. Say you're going out with a decent guy/girl and another obviously better guy/girl comes along and is willing to go out with you. Do you stay loyal or do you break up with the guy/girl.

Now just replace the decent guy/girl with the opinions on why Cloud and Tifa are meant to be and replace the better guy/girl with the opinions on why Cloud and Aeris are meant to be. Its obvious that Cloud and Aeris are meant to be but if you were to fold and admit it it would feel just like you broke it off with Tifa and chose another girl.

Haha... Sorrie, I'm not very good at explaining stuff(I always add some unnecessary stuff). Anyway. Hope you understood.

Oh and you can also state why how you think CloTis are made.

Actually, I remember an old conversation with my sister on women stereotypes on fiction.

We've both agreed that real men will never date a straight woman who is stronger than them and will most likely beat them up in hand to hand combat. It kind of crushes the ego. No matter how sweet or how sexy or how huge the boobs are.

Which is why the need to project towards a fictional character. They usually concentrate their energy to the leading male character who was a friend/companion to that "ideal girl" in same show/movie/games.

It's just a theory though. XD

This is mostly based on one comment comparing Tifa and Aerith from a Cloti, so I definitely don't see it as symbolising all Clotis... Anyway.

The comment was that the poster preferred Tifa because she was "quiet", didn't need much attention (a total phail, since Tifa requires plenty of attention-- she just doesn't dare ask for it), can "cook and clean" etc.

It made me think that some male Clotis get intimidated by Aerith's out-going personality, and are drawn to Tifa's comparatively more subdued personality. They feel that Aerith is too "high-maintenance" just because she's more vocal about what she wants, whereas Tifa strikes them as this ideal, voluptuous, kick-ass doormat whom they don't have to pay much attention to when they don't want to. They can take and suck and sap as much of her emotions as they want, and never have to carry the burden of giving back.

Well, in all fairness, I'm sure there are some pretty embarrassing Cleris fans out there who do the same too. I've never met many of them, but most of the Cleris I meet are from here and Devotion anyway (and I dare say, we're a pretty dignified bunch ;)).

But on GameFAQs... le shudder. It makes my inner fan weep tears of a thousand storms when I see a Cleris going all rabid. :rabid:

I have played all the Final Fantasy games and love them all.

I'm a Cloud and Aeris fan and have been for years. I played FFVII first many, many, many years ago. I've played all the Final Fantasy games now and love them all. During my first run through the game, a very long time before I played it, I remember one message in my head. Apparently Aeris died and Tifa stole Cloud from her and they ended up together. So I pictured Aeris dying from a disease and Tifa laughing and taking Cloud and Aeris and Tifa got into a fight. Of course, before I bought the game I didn't know what anyone looked like, anyone's personality, or any of that, until I bought it and played it. Aeris was a great character and I would be sad to see her die. I was really worried that I would be really sad, so I thought that if I didn't like her I would be less sad, and if I tried to support Tifa instead, but I tried that. It didn't work, I was still sad when Aeris died. I admitted the truth. Aeris was my favorite character. I pretended to think differently so I wouldn't be sad... Then I got to the lifestream flashback and I'm like, "what the hell?" Tifa wasn't a childhood buddy. Tifa was a snob who didn't notice Cloud. What is going on? Tifa was a liar! How could she treat Cloud that way and lie? Why was I a fan of this character? I didn't like Tifa anymore. Suddenly, all the "sweet" moments between them didn't seem so "sweet" anymore. Tifa was lying the entire game. The highwind scene changed my opinion a little, though. Grr... After beating it, I replayed the game pro- Aerith and as an Aeris fan, the fan I really was. Then I noticed how sweet the Cloud and Aeris scenes were. Now, it's been many, many years since I beat it and am still pro-Aeris.

So... fans can be changed. The thing is, when you first play it, you are under the "childhood buddies reunite" guise. The fake well scene. The first time the "meeting by the well" scene may seem sweet and innocent and pure. However, rewatching it after knowing that Tifa didn't give a damn about Cloud, show you it isn't sweet. Tifa was like "Alright, fine... I'll meet you there, whatever." and Cloud's like "I'm leaving" Tifa's like "Alright... your point is...? Everyone is leaving... Why am I talking to you?" Then Cloud's like I may not be back. Then Tifa makes some weird gesture. When I first played, I thought it was crying because they were buddies. Replaying it, what was that gesture about anyway? Then Cloud says how he wants to be like Sephiroth and Tifa stops and is all interesting and is like "Alright... if he becomes a famous hero, I'm going to be with a famous guy. Now we're talking. If this misfit with weird hair can become MY hero, I'm going to get to know him after all." So she says "Rescue me if I'm in trouble. Promise!" and Cloud's like "WTF? You're talking to me NOW?" and Tifa's like "Make the promise, damn it!!' and Cloud's like "Okay... whatever..." Then poor Cloud thinks Tifa actually cares. Tifa just wants fame. Then suddenly she has a "crush" on Cloud? No, she didn't know Cloud at all, she was just upset because her fan club was moving away.

Well, that's how the well scene can be interpreted.

You can tell by Johnny's letter that she was very popular and probably went out a lot and now Cloud was the last one she wasn't with and everybody else moved away. Sure, by the end of the game she wasn't using him and finally got to know him and generally cared for him... but she didn't love him. She cared about him... but her feelings weren't really love. She convinced herself to like him the whole way before the revelation that Cloud wasn't the hero. Of course, she had grown up by then and wasn't using Cloud anymore and generally liked him as a person, but she didn't love him, because she hardly really "knew him by then.

Aeris liked Cloud for who he was. Aeris didn't make herself like Cloud. Aeris got to know Cloud for his personality and she felt special with him. Aeris had been lonely before and had a difficult past, like Cloud's. In the Temple of Ancients, Aeris mentions that only a handful of people got to know her and one of them was Tseng. When Cloud was a kid, he also wasn't that popular with the in crowd. Cloud comes and Aeris meets someone who likes her, someone who cares for her and someone she gets to know. Cloud meets Aeris, someeone who meets him and gets to know him and like him for the person he is. There wasn't any deal with a company for money. Cloud was being Aeris's bodyguard without being payed. He was getting to know her without others around and without a pressure. Aeris was the first new person he met and he was entering a new area and developing a crush on Aeris. Cloud's feelings were genuine with Aeris and Aeris's feelings were genuine with Cloud.

I think Clotis are made with the..

"OMG Childhood 'friends'?! SO CUTE THEY ARE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER."

Um, yeah. ._.;; And, "Aerith is dead. Cloud can have a future with Tifa!!!1111one"

Yeah, short...but that's how I usually see it. :P

I think Clotis are Clotis for lots of different reasons. They are all individuals good and bad like anyone else.

For my part, I have Cloti friends who fall into 2 main categories:

1. The ones who just really liked Tifa in the game and want her to have Cloud because it would make her happy. (Those are primarily my female Cloti friends.) Nothing would change their conviction because it's what they like, and I'm good with that.

2. The fanboys who pay lots of attention to Tifa's abundant... um... assests. LOL I come out of anime fandom, so I know a fair number of guys who actually favor the physically tough gal with huge boobs. (I've yet to understand the attraction they have to Naru from Love Hina, but Tifa certainly has a sweet side and is understandable for me.) I do love my fanboy friends, and I get quite a few laughs over their conversations comparing Tifa and Aeris's various physical assests. (There are supporters on both sides, too! *chuckle*)
