Who's reaction to Aerith's death was most memorable? (Besides Cloud's reaction)

One of the ones I really remember was Red XIII, he howled up at the moon. It made me feel soooo sad.

I also remember Cid's reaction, he looked at Aerith, and then shook his head sadly.

I think Vincent's reaction was bending down next to her, getting up, and then nodding at Cloud...

I don't really remember the others....but I'll replay the game to find out....

When Yuffie started crying and hugged Cloud I cried. :cry: The way Tifa brushed Aerith's hair from her face was so bittersweet, same with Barret when he put his hand on Cloud's shoulder.

And FFVII section, methinks. ;) *moves*

Aside from Cloud's? Because I positively sobbed in his. :cray: But Tifa's, Vincent's, Red's, and Yuffie's stung me the hardest. I think that Tifa was always a little bit wary of Aeris's intentions and often reminded me of a mother who disapproved of her son's girlfriend (:D), but the way she brushed her hair away and ran away crying really told me that she grew to be somewhat protective of her, and acted like a mother not only to the rest of AVALANCHE, but to Aeris herself. That was the intention I got when I first saw her reaction--it said so much about how she felt about Aeris, and deep down I really think she knew how happy she made Cloud. That's what makes her such a tragic character, and one of my all-time favorites.

Vincent's showed me that he instantly felt Cloud's pain at Aeris's death, since he had experience in letting someone he loved die. I think that Cloud's feelings were very vulnerable even though he tried so hard to keep them hidden under a cold exterior, and Vincent, being the sideline-observer that he is, really sensed what he felt for Aeris with great strength and sympathy, whether those feelings were of love or not. The way he just looked straight at Cloud and completely froze the moment really knocked me out--if he had said anything, I wouldn't have liked it a billionth as much as I do. The silence said everything that ever, ever needed to be said about the way Vincent relates to Cloud. It was like he was looking into a mirror and looking over the ruin his life had become, but instead, he was looking right at a guy who was sharing a similar experience. Right then, I started to worry about how Cloud was going to turn out in the future, and whether he'd be forever depressed like Vincent and mope over Aeris for the rest of his life. Brilliant how a simple stare can do that to a mood.

The howl and the hug were self-explanatory. Make me cry, goddammit. :cry: Although all of them just plain broke my heart in every way, but I still play it over and over just to feel the intensity of the most emo moment in the game. :sad:

I remember Barret's reaction now. I got so sad, he put the hand on Cloud's shoulder, glanced at her body, and sadly shook his head...He knew there was nothing he could do to make him feel better. :sad:

I felt even worse with Cid's reaction, because he said he'd take Aeris on his airship, but never got the chance to... :sad: To me, Cid was like a father-ish (maybe uncle-ish, some type of relative) toward Aeris, and I was so sad when he just sadly nodded his head.... :sad:

Barret's reaction is that he looks at Aerith and puts his head down and shakes it. Then he takes a couple of steps and looks at his gun hand and then looks back at Aerith and then walks off the altar.

Cid does a small silent prayer for her and walks off the altar.

Cait Sith's reaction is weird. He looks at her and then turns to face Cloud and starts to dance probably to cheer him up. But its not working as you can tell and he slumps forward and walks away.

Tifa's well as you all know she brushed Aerith's bangs and touched her cheek. She was paying her last respects my fixing her hair so it wasn't messed up anymore and showing that she truly was beautiful.

Vincent's well, he looks at Aerith and then Cloud and walks away. As Luna said, he knew the pain that Cloud must of been going through to lose someone he loved and just walked away as he knew that he and Aerith needed to be alone one last time.

Red's as you guys said is the howl which I guess its his way of crying in tears or it could be a howl to the gods that he wishes Aerith to rest in peace and her spirit to be taken care of.

Yuffie's shows she still a kid. The way she tries to hide her tears but can't hold abck the emotion and just pushes herself into Cloud's arms for the support she needs.

Is that them all? Yeah I think it is, I'm pretty sure they are accurate. My most emotional reactions were probably Red, Yuffie and Tifa's.

But still the most emotional reaction is Cloud. But I think it is when he takes her body to the lake. He's paying his last respects to Aerith, setting her body to rest, even know that her soul has been released and will eventually return to the planet, he is letting her body do that. You can tell as when he lets go to her, when she is sinking further and the camera switches to the view of her sinking down face to face she is disappearing because she is reaching the bottum. Its closer to the core of the planet and that's where she is going.

Well that's just what I think.

I thought Nanaki's was the worst. I died when he started to howl.

**off subject** I thought the best one is when Oddishness kept trying to beat jenova...whatever a million times and had to keep seeing Aeris die. She called me at about 12 one night and said "Savannah, I can't take it. I've had to watch Aeris die 4 times now." I couldn't help but laugh just a bit. I was right at that part and was waiting for my turn at crying.

Of course Cloud's reaction was sad :sad: and sweet at the same time, but I also :wub: loved Red's :red: reaction. After he sat there and looked at her, turned and howled that sad, adorable howl I love so much. :cry: I really felt bad. It reminded of the sene where Red found his father Seto...:cry:.....:lmao:

They all really got to me >.O Especially Cloud's. I can't really choose, that moment was just....... gah. I don't even half a word for it v_v. But Yeah, I think in the end the her death really fuel the fight against Sephiroth. ;~;

Honestly I don't remember ANY of their reactions,and the last time I witnessed this scene was about 2 months ago xD.
It was probably because I was so shocked
1)Well the anticipation of knowing she is going to die..but when,and than boom!
2)The disk got stuck at that part and I hurried to gamestop xD ( I was so freaking angry)
3)When I finally witnessed her death,my eyes were transfixed on cloud

So All I saw in that entire scene was aerisxcloud,zoned out the rest.

And I was UBER PISSED having to fight jenova especially with that,tear jerking music in the background,taunting me :sad: .

Cloud's of course. He angsts like he had never angst before to another, IMHO.

My favorites were Barret and Yuffie.

I've already said that Yuffie really made me a fan of hers, because of her reaction to Aerith's death. She was really brokenhearted.

In the PC version of the scene apparently Vincent kinda does a little tap-dance on Aerith's body. :lmao: Oh, bad, BAD Vinny!

Cloud's reaction was the strongest, no doubt about it. All of AVALANCHE cared for Aerith as one of their friends or companions, Tifa cared for her like a sister, but Cloud's heart was the most broken. :cry: He lost the one person he began to love...I hate...Sephiroth. :no:

The most memorable reactions to me were Tifa's and Yiffie's. The way Tifa brushed Aerith's hair away from her face and ran away sobbing was heartwrenching and showed that despite the little "rivalry" they shared over Cloud (which never escalated into anything nasty, mind you), they were friends.

Yuffie's was memorable cause... well, this is the Yuffster we're talking about: materia-stealing, super childish, and smart-mouthed. She put on that tough, I'm-no-kid! face from the minute she joins the party and to have someone like that break down on Cloud's chest, practically immobile with grief is... pretty touching/sad.

I second Keys post. When aeris ran away I needed a female character to replace her (god how I hate this) and thanks to the LTD I couldn't use Tifa anymore, so Yuffie became the only choice.
I usually hate her kind of character so I still had to get used to her. It was so sweet when she suddenly started to cry in Clouds arms. I was all :sad: and happy at the same time to get a reaction like that from her.

Tifas reaction brought fresh tears to my eyes when I first saw it and all I could think was "They were friends... :cry: ".

Vincent ruined some of the seriousnes when he was sticking his foot through her head, though...

I thought Cloud's expression was sad. Like a man, he held in his emmotions, but he still did let some of them out. Like while Sephiroth's talking right after Aeris's death, Cloud drops his head, and his shoulders jump. He really did weep. Not alot, but for Cloud, this is a shocker. It really kills me to know cloti fans think Cloud didn't love Aeris. :sad: Boy, do i pitty them. :cry: For Vicent too, that was also a surprise. He almost NEVER shows any emmotion what so ever. But when Aeris died, he actually felt bad.

I think Yuffie's really said the most for the characters. Up until that point, I think Yuffie never really understood how serious things where. She was still in the young and invincible mindset.

I hope you guys realise that was just a bug. :lmao: I think you do, but, just to be sure... I know some people say that's proof that Vincent doesn't like Aerith, which I found to be one of the most idiotic statements EVAR. It was just a bug.

I'll have to agree with Yuffie's reaction being the most memorable. It simply wasn't something to expect from such a cocky, young upstart like her.

A close second for me, comes from Red. His howls have a way of just tearing my heart to shreds.

All that glitch makes him do is make his foot go up. So I don't see how it looked like anything other than marching or something. :blink:

I haven't seen the movement myself, not playing the PC version.

But I definitely have seen people try to pass that part off as Vincent being happy about Aerith's death, kicking her body etc. An idea so out-of-character, a reaction so wrong, and a possibility so impossible that I don't even need to see it to wave it off. :rolleyes:

It's sometimes, but not always, used in conjunction with the idea that Vincent is a Cloti supporter.

I would have to say Cloud and Cid's. Cid wanted to take her on the Airship as much as Cloud, but her never go to. THe only thing I liked about it was the fact that I got to hear her theme one last time. I cried :sad:

The reactions of Cid, Yuffie, and Tifa are the ones I always remember, though I actually only saw them all when I went back to the game recently and started switching my party around.

I don't remember much about the game, I never beat it and I it was years ago that I played it. reading this is really making me cry though. I am getting the game from ebay though.

Definitely Cloud's reaction, but if beside Cloud I think is Tifa's or Red's reaction...Tifa's reaction are really impress me becoz I will never thought that Tifa will give such reaction, gezz..it is like showing that she had lost her best friend, a most dearest friend and she can't control her self to cry or accept her death...while Red's one, he howl sadly and make me feel like animal can feel the sadness too, an extreamly sad scene!!

That scene really make me cry for a few times, especially with Aerith Theme, sweet and sad song... sigh~ why good guy must die early... :cry: Not Fair!! :(

they were actually best friends, they were rivals for cloud's affections but that didn't stop them from being friends.

In other words, they were just friendly rivals :bff:

What was Cait Sith's reaction to the whole thing, I never really brought him on my team on the Forgotten Capital mission. :hmm:

Yup, I know they were best friend, the reason I think this, coz last time I never thought that Tifa will have such reaction to a rival of love :P ... but thanks for helping me to state it clear that THEY WERE BEST FRIEND :lol:


For Cait Sith 1, I remember that Cait Sith was dancing and try to cheer Cloud up and it didn't work.. actuall it is quite weird for Cait Sith reaction...<_<

Ya klnow, I once heard a Cloti say that Tifa wasn't gonna be that way when Aeris died and in fact that she was actually happy inside that Aeris was dead, because Tifa could have Cloud! Well, that's bull :X. Tifa felt just about as bad as Cloud did and she never would have done anything or made a reaction to Aerith's death. Heck, she wouldn't even come along if she knew about it!!!!!!! :no:

Aeris and Tifa had no reason to fight. When it came to competing for his affection, that was exceptional. But when 2 girls have a good friendship, they NEVER let a boy break them up!! :nono:

It was both in the playstation version and the PC version, and it comes after the boss battle with Jenova Life. You only see the reactions of the party members who fought with Cloud in the battle with Jenova Life. Cloud then picks Aerith's body up and walks out. Shortly after that is the FMV where Cloud lowers Aerith's body into the pool.
