Title: A Coincidence Vs. Fate
Description: The cause of their relationship...
Vanessa Strife-Gainsborough - January 15, 2006 02:27 AM (GMT)
Some people tell me that when Cloud and Aeris met, it was just a coincidence <_< , and I was never really sure what was the cause of their relationship :dunno: .........
Then again  , Fate could have heeded Cloud's call for the search of that one light in the dark life he has....
So what do you all think? :(
daydreamer198 - January 15, 2006 03:33 AM (GMT)
I'd call it fate too.
Fated to meet each other.
Fated to fall for each other.
And ultimately, fated to lose each other.
MistaCloudStrife - January 15, 2006 03:35 AM (GMT)
Seeing as this was a video game and everything was pre-thought out, I would say that thier meeting was more fate. And I think thier second encounter was even more so decided by fate. Falling from really high crashing down, only to land on a cushy bed of flowers, where flowers aren't even supposed to grow. Hmmm... coincidence?
AmayaSaria - January 15, 2006 04:00 AM (GMT)
Fate, no doubt. They met in a random kind of a way, and joined AVALANCHE traveled together......definately fate...
Vanessa Strife-Gainsborough - January 15, 2006 04:17 AM (GMT)
How do you think :cloud: and :aeris: would be if their relationship was just a concidence?
daydreamer198 - January 15, 2006 04:21 AM (GMT)
there some coincidence in their relationship.
it's quite a coincidence that Aerith is older than Cloud. That's for sure.
Vanessa Strife-Gainsborough - January 15, 2006 05:05 AM (GMT)
I still don't get how......
:cleris: forever!!!!!
daydreamer198 - January 15, 2006 05:13 AM (GMT)
I meant it being a coincidence his mother wanted Cloud to have an older girlfriend and the fact that Aerith is older than him.
Aeris Gainsburough - January 16, 2006 08:13 AM (GMT)
If it were mere coicedence for all those things then coicedendces rock! xD
Flowers can grow even in the most dismal places. Sort of like how Aeris appeared in the slums of midgar, all happy and such. She's older then Cloud and thats alos what Clouds mother suggested to him. Aeris knew right away Cloud was not acting like himself, Tifa did not.
Aeris stayed by Cloud even when he hit her when he was being conrtolled. Also refering back to Clouds mothers statement, Aeris is a healer, someone who can take care of another, ;B isn't this just fun?
Zuea - January 16, 2006 11:33 AM (GMT)
definitely fate. not because I'm a cleris, but nothing happens by coincidence. I live by that belief. everything happens for a reason.
BTW, Aeris Gainsburough, i love your avatar. XD

You can say that again! :D
I'm sure it was fate.

umm :ermm: This was just a thought.. If another FF game were to come out and be like a part 2 to FFVII, do you think Fate would want bring Aeris back -for the Cleris fans, or would Fate go with Nomura and just let her stay dead-for the Cloti fans?

The problem that always arises with Aerith being brought back, in my opinion, is that, she died to save the Planet. It would be strange and ultimately cheesy to have her come back just because the fans want her to. SE would have to have a VERY well thought out plan and reason to have her revived.
Aerith's death was incredibly shocking which is why FFVII had such a huge emotional appeal. On the TV show Filter, I believe that Aerith's death was voted the most shocking moment in the Final Fantasy series, or something to that effect, I'm not sure. Regardless, one of the people who were interviewed explained it well that the reason why FFVII was so amazing was BECAUSE Aerith was killed and we as players, going by the cliche that's been repeated over and over again, expected Aerith to come back.
What was so amazing is that she never did.
The wonderful thing about it is that we're shown that Cloud and Aerith are still connected and in love despite the barrier of death. I suppose that having Aerith remain dead would please the Clotis, in AC, we as Cleris fans were shown that despite her death, Aerith remains with Cloud, he is always thinking of her, he wants to be with her and that he CAN meet her. They are still connected despite death and THIS is what refutes any of the 'evidence' that Clotis throw at us. Fate and love keep Cloud and Aerith together, even if they're not together physically.
I believe that their life together is fated, that they were destined to find one another and fall in love. They were fated to be torn apart but their fated to find one another again in the Promised Land. Their love is fated to be everlasting
Er, I digress. I DO believe that it's fate. :cleris:
Vanessa Strife-Gainsborough - January 17, 2006 12:31 AM (GMT)
Well thanks for answering that for me anyway :huggle:. i may have more questions later.....

Why would Aerith staying dead mean an automatic win for the Cloti fans? Some Clotis thought that way after FFVII, but it was proven in AC that, despite two years after her death, Cloud has made no move to get on with his life and get together with Tifa.
It's one thing if we know that he's had constant contact with Aerith during those past two years. But imagine if he hadn't, and despite living under the same roof with his childhood friend who obviously still has a thing for him, never got together with Tifa...
Ultimately, whether Aerith is dead or alive, matters little in the Cleris relationship. :cleris:
Oh, and what Difinity said.
[EDIT] And to answer the topic, I think fate is simply another way-- a prettier, more ethereal way-- to refer to a coincidence. That said, I think everything that happened in FFVII is fate. ^^ Such as how, out of eight sectors in Midgar, a delirious Cloud just HAD to end up in the same sector that his childhood friend of seven years ago was living in.
And of course, to fall through the church roof of a girl who has ancient ties with the man who destroyed his hometown AND once dated his best friend.

Advent Children is part 2 to VII.
And Aerith will never come back as SE have stated many times that they wanted to avoid the cliche revial of a character. It makes her death more powerful and tragic that way.
Fate, I don't believe in that. I say coincidence like what Lynn said as it along with others it just another way of saying it.
Zuea - January 18, 2006 02:54 PM (GMT)
wait. just another theory to support that it is indeed fate.
in greek mythology, the GODDESS of STRIFE is named ERIS. XD
how's that for coincidence? XD
Ally McBeal - January 18, 2006 03:07 PM (GMT)
nothing happens per coincidence.. i don't believe in coincidence..it's all fate!
Vanessa Strife-Gainsborough - January 18, 2006 05:18 PM (GMT)
I think its fate, though conincidence sounds like a good reason too.....:dunno:
Aerith-Cetra - May 30, 2006 07:39 AM (GMT)
Definatly fate.
I believe in it fully.
Simply put cloud has felt rejected his whole life. That might be why he chose to not show others his emotions. Tifa has acted possesive of cloud since they were kids. Kinda in a clingy way.
My BF is a lot like cloud, what he does in situations where he is dealing with a naggy small talker is to say "yeah" and just look away. He says the words with no emotions, because he's trying to hide them.
He even tried to hide them from me, like cloud does to Aerith, only thing is
:aeris: Aerith could read peoples emotions, it was her gift as a Cetra (or medium). She knew based on what she saw, what to say, in as short a sentence as possible. And cloud liked that. He would open up to her a bit and respond.
:cleris: Share a momment like that in KH2 Where he wont say it but she peers in at him for a bit, stops to think, and then says what she need to, and it is enough.
If they had more time I'm sure Aerith could have broken his shell and freed him.
Someone who can't read emotions will take that silent act or short responce as an insult (believe me I witness it every time with my :cloud: ). Thing is Tifa wont back down she is determined to own cloud. I hope for her sanity she can find away to accept that he will be there to help her but nothing more. She wont be able to have a relationship with him. Its a personality clash.
I fell as though cloud's best dialog momments were between the two of them esp. when they could talk alone.
"[/QUOTE]I believe that their life together is fated, that they were destined to find one another and fall in love. They were fated to be torn apart but their fated to find one another again in the Promised Land. Their love is fated to be everlasting"
Cloudn't of said that better myself :cleris: They will find each other again. Cloud just has more he has to do yet, like help Vincent with his on going struggle.
Resha - May 30, 2006 09:06 AM (GMT)
I'll pick whatever i point, what only matters to me is Cloud loves Aerith and vice versa, I'm not going to bother to know if it's fate or coincidence, but mostly what i noticed on animes and mangas, the canon couple are met up by fate, and i believe on fate.
Fall down to a church and meet up with a flower girl who happens to be the Last Cetra, it's fate...?
bump on a hot guy on the street then suddenly it turns out to be your unknown fiance' it's fate...i think... :P
I'm all for jokes, but fate sounds good. Argh! Whatever Vanessa Strife-Gainsborough pick, i'll go for that. CXA forever!
:cleris:
Amen.
Artec - May 30, 2006 11:30 AM (GMT)
Well... if Cloud fell from a 10,000 foot plate above a huge city, and out of all the houses, buildings, alleys, streets, dumpsters, etc.. He could've on fallen onto, He just happened to fall right onto a soft patch of flowers.. The only flowers in Midgar.. and on that same day at the same time the only Cetra on the Planet was visiting this abandoned Church Cloud fell into, that just happened to date Cloud's best friend in the past... that would someday save the world.
Coincidence? Doubt it.
goddess_in_pink07 - May 30, 2006 01:43 PM (GMT)
Definately fate.... they were meant to be together dammit!

i'll take back what i said! it is fate i just realized it...today! haha! well, it's not everyday for a soldier to fell down to a bed of flowers then meets up with a flower girl, that's very unique, since fate is so weird, it has to be fate, they met, they started to know each other and they fell in love...look at the pattern:
Meet-Know You-In Love
that's what i see in most mangas and animes in romance, once you know the person very well, deep in his/her soul, you're going to fall in love.
*pats goddess_in_pink07* don't worry, i now think it is fate too!
Hades' Daughter - May 30, 2006 02:02 PM (GMT)
Fate definitely has a hand in this. Nojima said this when referring to FFVII/AC and "life": "I don't just meet people. I'm part of a bigger flow that leads me to meet certain people."
Sadhana - May 30, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)
Coincidence is only the human failure to make the connection! Their meeting was pure, lovely, unavoidable fate.
In AC, Rufus and Kadaj talk about why the flow of the Lifestream will make the repetion of history inevidable. Jenova and Sephiroth (or maybe just threats to the planet in general) are destined to resurface and are destined to be stopped by heroes. So isn't it reasonable to say that the Lifestream brought Cloud crashing through a church roof onto Aerith, the flower girl whose death would motivate him to keep fighting? Seriously, after Aerith dies, Cloud says the he should quit the journey because of what Sephiroth might make him do. But he knows that he must continue in honor of Aerith's sacrifice. Would Cloud have quit if it he hadn't fallen in love with Aerith and then be forced to watch her death? Seems like fate had a hand to play in it all.
Besides, have you ever seen a couple more perfect for each other personality wise?
cloud_n_aerith_strife - May 31, 2006 01:08 AM (GMT)
I for one believe in fate. I certainly think that Cloud and Aerith's meeting were fate and not just some coincidence. I mean come on what are the odds of somebody falling in a church where the last cetra was on that very day.....
