My boyfriend bought me a lot when he was over and Star Ocean 3 was one of the presents *^_^* We went out to the shops during the week and after buying new books from a couple of bookshops and having lunch we went to the games shop. I had set out for the day with buying an RPG in mind but I didn't really know what one I wanted. I had been holding out for Shadow Hearts Covenant but that's taking months to be released in Europe and just when I thought it'd be released it was delayed again :( So I eventually decided to get another RPG and play and replay that until SHC is released :) My boyfriend pointed out that Star Ocean 3 was on the shelves but I wanted to see if there was anything else interesting first. There wasn't and so I decided that I wanted Star Ocean 3 so he bought it for me *^_^*

We played through quite a bit of it together and we were both quite impressed by it, mainly the music and the story :) My boyfriend is away home now so I have to play it myself now but I'm going to keep an extra save for the place in the storyline we reached so that we can play it together again when he comes back :)

Both of us like Nel and I really like Cliff a lot too :lol:

Now I also like Ameena who was introduced in the storyline recently and she reminds both me and my boyfriend of Aerith :wub: My boyfriend even said " Aerith 2?" when she appeared on screen :lol:

So has anyone else here played the game, what are your thoughts on it, who are your favourite characters and has anyone else seen the Aerith similarities in this game ? :)

Maybe the people that worked on this game put a flower girl in as a tribute to Square :unsure:

I have that game and I already beat it too. ;) I really liked the game, it has an interesting story, and beautiful graphics. My favorite character will have to be Maria Traydor. I also like Nel, Cliff, and Fayt.

Heh, Square loves flower girls. :P I liked Ameena, the fact that she was a flower girl like Aeris, really interested me. Her story is sad, but I don't wanna ruin it for you if you've haven't played the game that far yet. I don't really remember if there was any Aeris or Cloud&Aeris moments in the game though. I don't think there were, but I'll have to play the game over again.

The one thing that I found the most interesting thing about the game is...

...there are multiple endings to the game. There is a Fayt&Sophia ending, Fayt&Maria ending, Fayt&Roger ending, Fayt&Nel ending, and so on. Throughout the game there will be moments to get a certain persons feelings for Fayt higher or lower. Kinda like the date system in FFVII, but it's more complicated. The first time I played, I got the Fayt&Sophia ending, which is the ending that I didn't even want. Now, I'm working on getting the Fayt&Maria ending. Heh, meh likes that pairing. ;)

I've play it too, really slow though. My level's so slow, and I die real easily. The characters are okay, well since Square DID make the game, it has to be pretty good, yeah? But Cliff, uhm his voice could be way better, I don't really like it, he sounds soo manly..

But I really like it's battle system, cool, cool, cool.

Yeah, Ameena reminded me of Aerith a lot. Do you get to meet her again later? I took forever to find her in the forest....

Is that a yaoi pairing??? XD

I like Star Ocean but the game gives me a headache. The places are always so huge and I get lost and confused real easy. But the graphics are .. wow.

And I thought Roger liked Nel. :lol:

Ooooh, Yes! I LOVE STAR OCEAN. My party is Fayt, Maria and Cliff.

Has anyone beaten the three extra bosses? Ethereal Queen, Lenneth and Freya? I have. Freya DESTROYED me. (I still beat her :lol: ) What I meant was, she made me use all my items and all the ones I created and stuff...lvl 255 and she's still a pain in the neck.

Oh oh! and how about the battle trophies? Has anyone gotten the
"Beat Luther with a Metal Pipe?"

Solo Peppita challenge
Third team - Maria, Peppita, Nel/Sophia rotated
Fourth team - Adray, Fayt, Roger on disc one now Fayt, Roger, Peppita on disc two

I love Star Ocean, especially the battle system. Me luvs action RPGs. And the story is good too. Even though it took me soooo very long to beat the game. But, I was happy when I did. Especially when this was the first game where I actually beat the whole game before my brother did. :plot: My absolute favorite character is Maria. She kicks ass! My other favorites where Nel, Fayt, Cliff(despite his lousy VA), and Albel.

What ending(s) did everyone get?? In my first game, I got the normal Fayt&Sophia ending even though I strongly wanted the Fayt&Maria ending...

It's clear though that Fayt does not feel the same. His mind is most often focused on Sophia during the game, they have more interaction together, more shots of Sophia than anyone else appear in his mind during the ending FMV, they get touchy feely stuff, they are promoted together on offical merc like other SO series couples/male/female leads like Claude and Rena. Faria is clearly a fanon couple.

It's never made clear just who Maria's real parents are. However it is made clear both from Jessie's confession and the dictionary that the Traydors are not her real parents. Jessie adopted her at Moonbase. Then after she'd left Moonbase she married Richard, and they raised Maria together.

When Ameena first came into the game me and my boyfriend were playing it and all we saw was the pink dress first and we both simlutaneously said "Aerith 2" xD Then when we found out she was a flower girl too we were like omg. Then when we found out she was ill ... we just knew what would end up happening to her :cray:

And yes we noticed that was one of the moments Fayt thinks of Sophia. Another is on the Diplo when Maria has just finished reassuring Fayt about certain events and he thanks her, but then he sits down and is all like I wonder how Sophia is :wub:

Sophia also reminds me of Aerith quite a bit. She has a gentle personality like hers, she's nice and kind, she tries her best to help others, she thinks of others before herself, and she's the best magic user just like Aerith :fangirl: She also opens the gates to the "heavens" when she does Meteor Swarm xD

As for Maria I like her in battle ( she an essential part of my MP Maulers team on 4-D with Peppita) but I'm not that much of a fan of her character wise (except chibi Maria. Chibi Maria was like omg awwwwww how cute) She could be really mean at times, example on Moonbase to Peppita "We don't need a child holding us back" Excuuse me Maria that "child" was outdamaging you in battle on Moonbase <_<

Umm, yeah you make good points but in my opinion I like Faria, okay? I didn't really need all of that, and I will respect the fact that you like Fayt and Sophia. But, just don't shove it in my face like that, okay? ^_^

Wow so this is where the Ameena Aeris thread was. Well if you ever read this fury brand, that was the first subject I talked about when I got on this site. It is under the Church with I have just joined this forum as the subject. It was fun to find this though and to officially answer the question I definately saw similarites. Here is what I pm'd to a friend of mine:

As for Ameena and Aeris they both were living in what would be considered the slums and had hardships, Ameena it was her illness and being seperated from her childhood friend and of course Aeris was always being chased by the Turks.

I believe both had lost their parents and were being watched over by someone else correct? I can't remember who the lady was who was worried about Ameena.

Both had tragic ends and both took risks even though it endangered their lives. Of course Aeris was risking her life to safe the planet and Ameena was trying to get to her friend but thought the circumstances are obviously different they risked their lives for someone or something else.

They both had heros who tried to save or protect them. Obviously Ameena's and Fayt relationship was different from Aeris and Cloud's but the hero's need to protect and or save them was a huge factor. Also the final conclusion was in the end the same. Neither Fayt or Cloud could save them from death yet ironically both seemed to be able to be at peace and happy right before they died. Aeris' prayer had been heard and she saw Cloud, and Ameena had reached her goal of seeing her friend before she died.

And of course there look is similiar, pretty, slim, even there kind dispositions are similiar. And they seemed to make people around them happier because of the way they were.

It was because of these things that made me wonder if i was done on purpose ir is it just a character type that is appealing because they are so noble?

I have to disagree with that, LadyNel xD. I would have to say the best party is Fayt, Cliff and Nel, since you start out so early with those two in the game. Plus, it's a fairly well balanced party, too.

Mehh, but I use Fayt, Cliff and Maria. So it really dosen't matter xD.

Anyways, this game was pretty alright. I enjoyed it, but it didn't make me go 'OMFGWOW. -craps pants-'. But anyways, the battle system is very noble to it's previous Star Oceans. Well, the story did kind of drag along a bit... but nonetheless I like this game a whole lot.

... I seriously hope I'm not the only one who like Fayt/Maria. (holds on to RE) But hey! I like Fayt/Sophia too!!

EDIT: I can honestly say that Freya DESTROYED me. She made me use my all my items that I took the time to create, but my point here is that it took alot of me to beat her. And yes, I did.

It was getting good til the 4th dimension space came up and right before that happened it was starting to become to obvious.

Killed it for me.

Basically everything after that was just 'We have to beat this guy and save the universe!' No real plot shattering information comes untill the end of the game, though <_<. That's why the story dragged on a bit from that point too. The first disk seemed to be crammed with everything you need to know and then the rest of the crap came in on the second disk. When they discovered Sophia had that gene in her... it proved only one purpose. Unlike Maria's and Fayt's which could be used in battle too ^_^.

Nope. It was produced by Square. Made by Tri-ace. Or Designed...accoring to Gamefaqs. I don't know, someone go check the credits after you beat the game for me? xD.

I played a little bit of Star Ocean 3 and the best part of the game has to be the battles. Real time fast paced action is a nice change from the usual turn-based fighting.

Man, it took so much effort to beat her >_< I haven't even gotten the "Defeat Freya in under 5 minutes" one!

The most boring was "120 Minutes in Battle" one. :lol:

Considering that Peppita can gain lots of levels in one fight due to the amount of EXP enemies give at Moonbase compared to the piddly amount enemies give when Cliff joins, Peppita can rapidly catch up with a levelled Cliff brought from Elicoor so I agree with Lady Nel a Fayt, Nel, Peppita team can be good too :) Haven't tried it yet but I've tried plenty of other teams with Peppita in them so yeah goodness :P

Though levels don't always mean everything anyway. When I first took Peppita, which was on Universe, on much lower levels she was soon outdamaging a L60+ Cliff taken from Elicoor (I overlevelled trying to complete an optional dungeon <_<) thanks to Power Dance's ATK boosting.

Mind telling us which of Maria's moves are Alteration Paladin's Heart? People elsewhere before have said she has them but have never given any details.

Fayt's is obvious, Ethereal Blast, the angel thing, and Sophia, who actually does have the ability to use her gene in battle btw, who has the pink aura thing round her hand and that for Meteo Swarm and Gremlins.

Cliff, Peppita and Nel is my next team, planned for SO3! :)

You mean with the gene like Ethereal Blast, right? I'm not very sure, but I think it's that one move with the huge white beam she shoots out with her gun. Energy Burst? I think that's it. I can't remember.

Really now? I never knew that, partially because I've never really used her in battle. :lol: From my experiences, her casting time was slow plus the magic damage she did was weak. But I've been reading her magic is really strong. :/
