I started playing a few weeks ago and got hooked. Anyway, I'm on the Broa server (Scanea is seriously overpopulated) and currently have a level 30 ice/lightning wizard. Training is a huge pain; I can't tell you how sick I am of fighting mushrooms and pigs. <_< Maple Story's an addicting game though.

Hiya TidusBlankety, I'm glad to see you found the game! I'm sorry that I completely missed out on your request for a link in the MMORPG thread. >_<
I don't know how much has changed between now and when I played, but from what I remember, you shouldn't leave the initial island until you're sure you're finished with it. When I played the game, once you left that island, you could never return! It was quite annoying to realise that only AFTER I'd left the island early.

My brother plays this game. I was thinking of downloading and checking it out for myself but do you do anything else besides fighting and leveling up?

Umm... That's pretty much it, I guess. :ermm: But if you like bargain hunting, the market is a good place to hang out. The whole Maple experience was supposed to be about meeting new people and doing party quests, so you could do that as well. But that's all there is to it, I think.

Nope, that's pretty much the staple MMORPG experience. They try to innovate things by making you do party quests and such stuff, but you'll spend some time levelling up as well. About the only aim you could have in a MMORPG is to reach the maximum level, and get all the nifty-uber-godly items to dress your character up with.

I see, I thought maybe you could do missions or buy a shop or house of your own, marry some random villager even. They should at least had fishing or digging, take time off from all that fighting! :P

They have fishing and mining in World of Warcraft. ;) Although they're not very advanced. If you've played Breath of Fire III, the fishing in WoW is certainly nowhere near BoFIII's level.
Those sound like awesome ideas, though (the idea of buying a house and marrying a random villager appeals to me greatly... which is hardly a surprise, considering I'm a Harvest Moon fan :P). When I first played Ragnarok Online, I'd thought that merchant characters had to buy vending space in the empty houses to sell their wares. Who knew they just sold them on the streets!
You should send them to those MMORPG developers, Marionette! Give them something new to add to the system!
The party quests are like missions, though. Except you can never really fail them. If you do screw up, they always give you a chance to redo it. ^_^

I'm sure I wasn't the first to come up with those ideas.
So, I caved in and started playing. My name is Mirdala in the Broa server I'm a swordsman and already at level 17. It's an addictive game.
