Title: Hana-kimi
Description: Anyone?

I've just gotten through reading the entire 23 volumes of Hana-Kimi, and it was amazing! Since I like to make reviews of the manga that I'm currently obsessing, please bear with me here.

Story:
Mizuki is just your average Japanese heroine. The only weird thing is that she has just enrolled into Ousaka Gakuen, an only-boys school. She is determined to become friends with her idol, Izumi Sano, who happens to be the star high-jumper in the school, and will do what it takes to get close to him. Even if it means that she must hide her identity and pretend to be boy on the outside.

Problem #1: Ousaka Gakuen also happens to be a boarding school, and she must live in the dorms. With guys.

Problem #2: She is placed into the same room as her idol, Izumi Sano.

Mizuki tries really hard to conceal her 'feminity' from Sano, but it's all to waste. Sano has already found out. For some reason, he keeps it a secret from Mizuki and everyone (to keep her out of trouble and maybe because he wants her all for himself... ), and so, hilarity and chaos ensues.

That's not all. As in typical shoujo, there must be hurdles and problems to overcome, especially when it involves Mizuki's newly-found bunch of guy friends in Ousaka Gakuen.

Characters:

Mizuki:
She passes off as a boy in a all-boys boarding school to get close to Izumi Sano, her idol. Little did she know that she would end up in the same class as him, much less the same room! She is quite petite and boyish-looking. She wears a vest under her shirts to conceal her... er, feminity.

Sano:
He's very aloof, calm and... hot XDDD By the time Mizuki enrols herself into Ousaka Gakuen, Sano has already stopped high-jumping (Mizuki was devastated). He found out about Mizuki's true identity when he picked her up after she fainted in a football match. He later falls in love with her, but doesn't tell her he knows that she's a girl. Misconceptions, anyone? :P

Nakutsu:
Sano's rival for Mizuki's affections. The only problem is, that Nakutsu doesn't know that Mizuki is a girl, which is funny. He likes girls but is confused about his feelings for Mizuki. Haha. Poor guy.

Umeda:
He is the school's doctor. And he's hot too :fangirl: He knows about Mizuki's secret but unlike Sano, he confronts her about it. Umeda becomes Mizuki's confidante, the person she turns to when things get tough. Umeda is gay.

Nanba:
The head dorm of Dorm 2. He has wild-ish long hair, a sexy smile and is always surrounded by girls. Well, he enjoy the girls, too.

Nakao:
Really cute young boy who has an unhealthy obsession for Nanba, his senior. And I mean, reaaaally obsessed. Of course, his feelings for his senior is one-sided, since Nanba prefer girls. Nakao is cynical and sometimes downright rude, when he is pissed off. Though, he has his cute moments.

Kayashima
Nakutsu's roommate. He's... like the male version of Hana-chan from Fruits Basket ^^; He's quite enigmatic, and has the eerie ability to 'see' people's aura (distinguished with different colours), whether dead or alive. He and Nakutsu are very close friends.

Julia:
Mizuki's best friend from America. She (obviously) knows about Mizuki's identity as a girl. Nanba is attracted to her, but she refuses him :lmao: It's actually pretty hilarious. Personally, I support Nakutsu x Julia, but that's just me.

Okay, I think this post is getting ridiculously long. I'll stop here. But I love Hana-Kimi! If you haven't read this yet, I strongly recommend you to. (It's a fairly 'straight' manga too)

It's hilarious when Nakutsu (?) starts thinking he's gay and tries to stop himself from having thoughts of her. Hahaha. That's about the think I liked best. The begining was great, but I felt that it dragged on too long.

True... it dragged on so much that after book 10 I just skipped to 23 and read the ending.... =Þ

Nakatsu was the funniest there too.
