We know why Cloud needs Aeris, but I want to hear your toughts of this:

I have to agree with SweetJanie... it's not so much that Aerith needs him. It's more that she desires to be with him because she loves him.

Being separated from the one you love against your will isn't easy. Aerith made a choice for the Planet, and it cost them to be separated. Yet, was there any other choice she could have made? As far as they knew, Sephiroth would destroy the Planet if she didn't sacrifice herself.

If it weren't for the circumstances, Aerith's choice would have been to be with Cloud. The choice and opportunity to be with the one she loves was taken from her. Her desire to be with him wouldn't be less because of the choice she was forced to make.

Couldn't have said it better :D but she kinda had no choice cause if she had chosen to stay alive the Planet would be destroyed and they would still not be together. At least like this they may be together in the Lifestream, right? :blink:

Because Cloud seems to be the most deserving guy to be her "knight in shining armor". :P Just think; if it was Sephiroth, he'd most probably won't give a rat's ass whether she's harmed or not... and if it's Rufus, he'll just send the Turks to surround her in case danger arises... and if it's Vincent... well, he might pass, but he seems too preoccupied with Lucrecia. If it's Zack, well... I don't think they really clicked together as a couple because Aerith, in my opinion, doesn't need a guy who's a ladies' man (I believe some people see Zack as this one)...

Aerith needs a faithful lover, as faithful as she is. Someone she can inspire more... and guess what, I think it's Cloud! :P

awww of course she loves him!!! Any idiot (Clotis excluded) could tell that just by playing the game. It's why she's been watching over him, why she touches his arm. :D She needs someone she can be safe with, she needs Cloud

I just think that Aeris - being the ever-loving person that she is - loves Cloud so much she wishes to help him and be with him. She doesn't want anything else from Cloud except for his love.

She is pretty stable herself. Despite what she's been through, she can still be optimistic. Doesn't Cloud need someone like her? ^_^

I agree. Aerith never asked for anything and even if she did, it was something pure and simple. She helps others and doesn't mind if she doesn't gain anything from it.

But their desires are quite similar, Cloud wanted someone to notice him for what he was and Aerith wanted to live a life with someone she loves (or something like it).

Even Cloud's mother could see that Cloud needed someone who could take care of him. Aerith is good at doing that and Aerith needs someone to protect her, Cloud could do that. Like I said, they both gain. :)

I'll have to "slighty" disgree with what has been said here. Surely, she has never asked anything for being with him or even requested support, other than the bodyguard thing. However, from what I could tell, she was looking for something in him: someone that could understand her. As I see her, she couldn't even understand herself right, being a Cetra and all.

Looking into Cloud's personality, we can say he was a great person to perform this job, since he was involved with Sephiroth (thus, making him involved with all the mess of the "so called" Promised Land, a thing that was part of her, but could never understand).

Also, in the same way she's very talkative, she needs someone that can actually listen to her. It's not that the others didn't listen, but having someone that is quiet and is a good "listener" is important; more than being a good talker. Many can talk a lot, but few can listen as well. While Aerith is talkative, Cloud was quiet and listening. And when you listen to the other, you understand more about them, and that's what Aerith wanted.

It wasn't confusing at all, I understood it completly and I have to agree with you. I never thought of it that way, but it just seems so right!! :lol:

yeh, wat shadow spirit said lol hes very quiet and shes quite talkative, two halves of a whole!! two pieces of a puzzzle that fit!! probably why it never wouldve worked otu between tifa and him, shes to quiet as well, where would the relationship go??

I don't think that Cloud's relationship will go very far, as much as some may think, as Cloud was said to be mourning, right?
Usually in this sort of cases, some relationships don't work out. But who knows, I maybe wrong with my assumption.

Aeris needs Cloud's love. Her heart was already broken once, with Zack. Not that it was serious. If you think about it, isn't Aeris kind of alone? With out Cloud, she's lonely. Her real mother died, no siblings, and she's constantly on the move to get away from the Turks. She doesn't have time to settle down and make friends.

Also, Aeris' heart is pure, and kind. She needs to help someone, like we need oxygen. Who better to help, than Cloud? She feels secure with him, and she wants to be with him, to guide him, I think anyway. :)

Beautifully put, Aeris. People often neglect the fact that while both Cloud and Tifa are alone and need love, so does Aeris. She just works so hards to make the people around her happy all the time that you wouldn't notice it. Just because she doesn't "act" lonely like Tifa, doesn't mean she's never sad and depressed. It's that she cares for all of her friends so much that she doesn't want them to see her that way. Cloud is the only one she can express those feelings of loneliness to.

Aeris needs Cloud as much as he needs her. :(

I understand what everyone is saying, but I'm not sure if I want to agree with it all. I love Aeris x Cloud, but I don't think Aeris NEEDS Cloud, persay.

Everyone says she's independent and can take care of herself. That's very true, as we've seen. She's capable of making her own decisions and sacrifices for those she loves and cares for. I think Cloud needs her more than she will ever need him. If Cloud, during her time of life, were to move on with another for some ODD reason, she wouldn't waste away, but move on. If he were to die, she would move on after her time of mourning. She's a strong person and understands the pro and cons to life and love and accepts them. She never lived in the past, but thought of and soared on toward the future. It's not a case of NEEDING Cloud, it's more of a case of loving and wanting him instead.

Isn't that what love is all about, my dear? No one truly needs someone else but when you love someone very much you desire to be with that person and everything else seems somewhat irrelevant.
Of course Aerith could move on if Cloud would decide to be with someone else, but it's hard to say if she could ever be happy again were that to happen. She's still just a young woman who would only like to live happily ever after with the person she loves. ^_^
But unfortunately she has to carry the whole world on her shoulders which makes things bit more complicated...

But the question is why does Aeris need Cloud. I was just clearing up the difference the way I see it.

Hmm... From what has been said so far and from what I've seen in the game, she needs him as for one thing, he is her bodyguard and he somewhat promised to protect her. Besides that, I think she just wants someone to love and someone who really cares for her. Ever since Zack went missing and she met Cloud, the one who really cared for her was Cloud.
She may say that she doesn't need any protection and that she can't fend for herself, but to me, I think that she's just trying not to show any weaknesses. But deep down, I'm sure she was glad to have Cloud as her bodyguard whom protects and saves her .
Maybe that's why she needs him unless it's deeper case of something else. :unsure: :ph43r:

Why Aerith needs Cloud? hmmm... Well I think because Cloud makes her feel special, you know that part when she made Cloud laugh and after she meets with the rest of the group I think she notice that nobody else seem to make Cloud happy like she does ;) .

Here is why I think Aeris and Cloud make a great couple, and why Aeris needs Cloud. I wrote this in another forum but I think that Cloud brings happiness into Aeris's life. Before she met him she had no real friends and the only person who she said really knew her was Tseng, and she was lonely because she was always been chased by the Shinra. When she takes Cloud around town, she shows him the town, but it shows how while she knew people in town, she never had any friends before she met Cloud. She had felt lonely and when Cloud came into her life he helped make her happy. He was someone who she could help take care of, help cheer up. Someone she enjoyed being with. She found true love with Cloud. Her true love was Cloud, not Zack. Cloud shared a special bond with her, he was also lonely in his past. She met someone who, even though they were opposites, shared a special bond with her. They had both been lonely, but now they finally found someone to love them and be loved in return.

well, i think aeris need cloud because she loves him, but cloud need her because its only with her when he can be himself...aeris doesnt need really cloud, she can take care of herself, but she always helped him, she likes to make him happy...without her, Cloud felt he was useless, he was nothing..but when he was with aeris it was so diferent..

there is a thing that bother me:

clotis said that tifa and cloud were childhood friends, they cared about each other....they have always been in love, ..aeris wanted to still cloud from tifa and she didnt loved cloud because it was cloud, she liked him because he was like zack.

Tifa and Cloud NEVER played togueter, its true they were neighybours but they dindt talked to each other. Tifa always was with her friends and the poor cloud was invisible for her.
it was at age of 13, cloud was 14, when they began to talk, and it was at age of 13 and cloud was 14, when him, left nibelheim, so they talked not even a year, because it was with 14 when he began to talk to her and it was with 14 when he left.
When tifa was 20 she meet him again,,,, ¡ 7 years later! ¡ 7 years, because its true cloud saw her when she was 15 but she didnt reconocied him so.. that is eternal love??
She began to talk to him at 13, ( not even a year) and then , 7 years later, she meet him again..and that is love??

Well, lets go with aeris. its true at first she was atracted to him because she reminded him of zack but cloud knew it! she say to him, she say to him the true! so, cloud knew that aeris at firs liked him because of zack, she LIKED him, she didnt LOVE D him....but, then...she began to fell in love with him, knowing he was not zack, he has cloud..and thats why she liked him....

Aeris always was cheerful with him, with her he laughed, at wall market they were happy, togueter...and tifa?? with tifa cloud couldnt be cloud....with tifa cloud felt as " the hero that i could never be", with aeris it was diferent ..she knew how it was and she loved him anyway.

Hum, I think Cloud needs Aeris and Aeris needs Cloud, but it´s more than a special bond that they have and the love/like/whatever it´s that they share.
Cloud is a person physically strong but emotionally weak (well, more and less ^^U), and Aeris is a person emotionally strong and physically...well, she doesn´t like the fight, because she needs a bodyguard. They complemented each other. Tifa, on the other hand, is a person emotionally weak (Clotis can say that they want, but Tifa is weaker than Aeris in this, and it´s obvious ¬¬), but physically strong. Cloud and she don´t complemented each other. An example is in the game, when in CD2 Cloud discovers his true past and he is confuse... What does Tifa do?? She starts crying!! O.O.... You can´t help a person if this person sees you crying ¬¬... But Aeris, in CD1, when Cloud gives Black Materia to Sephiroth and he´s confuse, too, Aeris says him "Don´t worry, Cloud, it isn´t your fault..." (it was something like that, I don´t remember the exact sentence, sorry ^^U)... Aeris helps Cloud, and Cloud protects Aeris. They need each other :rolleyes:
