Whether any fans like it or not, Tifa and Aeris are friends. This is for people who browze through these forums, and don't believe their friendship.

Aeris willingly leads Cloud to Wall Market, puts herself in danger, just to get in the Mansion and save Tifa.

Aeris cheers on Tifa, telling her not to give up hope, while they are in the sewer and Tifa doesn't think she'll get to Sector 7 in time.

Tifa asks Aeris to take Marlene somewhere safe, and Aeris does it.

Tifa is worried for Aeris, when Cloud, Tifa, and Barret are on the plate, and Aeris is in the helicoptor.

Tifa willingly goes to the Shinra Building with Cloud and Barret to save Aeris.

After they kill the monster in the shinra bulding, with Red XIII, Tifa says, "Cloud, nows your chance to get Aeris!" If she hated Aeris so much, why would she cheer on cloud to save her?

At the Temple of the Ancients, Tifa supports Aeris, if she's in your party.

Tifa cries at Aeris' death.

Whenever the party splits up to talk to each other, Tifa and Aeris start gossipping off to the side.

Yes, they are very good friends. Tifa's wearing a pink ribbon on her arm in remembrance of Aerith, and Nomura said that Aerith lives on in both Cloud and Tifa's hearts. It's rather ironic that so many Tifa and Cloti fans hate Aerith so much - calling her a slut, etc. - when Tifa didn't hate Aerith at all.

Ahh, but of course they are, sweetie. I think most here acknowledge that. It has been said before that just because some of the fans of Tifa hate Aerith fans and vice versa, doesn't mean the characters are like their fans. Thank god for that. :rolleyes:

Aerith loved Tifa like she would love a true friend and Tifa loved Aerith as much. They connected the first they met in Corneos dungeon/basement and had nice time teasing poor Cloud who was still in a dress. :D

Sure, Tifa had her few jealous moments but they didn't change anything in their relationship. :)

Awwww, I thought they were the sweetest of friends. Right when they met there were finishing each other's senteces. Tifa had the second biggest(after Cloud's)reaction to her death, and whenever the party split up they went together. If Tifa was a man they'd make a perfect couple! :D

Anyway, I think they're friends because... they don't bitch each other off even when they're aware that they're after the same guy... and I believe Tifa is willing to give up Cloud for Aerith.

Y'know, I wonder. Did Aeris know how Tifa felt about Cloud? Look at it this way, Tifa's super shy, would she tell Aeris how she felt knowing obviously how Aeris felt? And, I think if Aeris knew how Tifa felt for Cloud, she wouldn't flirt with him so much in front of her. I really think Aeris didn't know

I really saw how deeply Tifa felt for Aeris as a friend when she died. Her reaction just really brought it out for me. It was when she knelt by Aeris's body and touched her face and then ran off crying. So sad... You can really see how they were true friends.

<_< Well I think they knew somehow. Exact words aren't the only ways to know what another person feels or thinks of. I think it's noticeable in the way they talk (like hidden meanings) about Cloud or how they refer to Cloud.
Just put yourself in either of the girl's situation. If you liked someone and there's another girl involved, even if she's not telling you anything, I think you would somehow feel that she really has the same feelings for him. It's a girl thing. <_<

I mean, it quite obvious that Tifa and Aeris are friends. Good friends in fact. You never have the idea that they disliked each other or anything. I've always noted how they like to gossip in a corner ^_^ (as mentioned before) it was so cute! and i remember in Junon, both of them made cloud climb up to upper junon.

LOL.... It was so funny... and afterwards, if cloud tries to talk to either Aeris or Tifa, they'll ignore cloud and say (to each other)

Aeris and Tifa sit at a table in Cosmo Canyon and choose to talk to each other when the party splits up. In Junon they talk to each other too. I don't know why people portray them as trying to kill each other in stories. They seemed like very close friends.

Yeah, without a doubt Aeris and Tifa are friends. There's the whole 'who's going to get Cloud' thing, but them being enemies is completely imagined. I read something about Tifa being jealous and insincere someplace, but no way it's true.

They are friends, I just hate Tifa. I guess if Cloud was not in the picture I would not hate her so much, but I know they are the best of friends even though for my amuzment I protray them as enemies. :P

And during the whole "Beugenhagen joins them to the Forgotten Capital", Tifa gave insight on Aerith.

"Although she never said it, Aerith led a hard life. She always talked about the future than the rest of us. She must have had many dreams." as well as her thoughts that she was under the impression Aerith never thought she might get killed when she left them back then.

In the beginning, Tifa didn't seem to accept Aerith easily, I think that's where people thought they were enemies and blah. I used to think badly of Tifa because of the way she was with Aerith at first, like when they were caught by SHINRA and put into prison, Tifa acted jealous and stuff. But if you put yourself in her situation, I don' t think it'd be any different. She likes Cloud, and since most girls are extremely sensetive, she got jealous. = HUMAN.
But later in the game, there was nothing that showed the girls hating each other. Yeah I also think Aerith didn't know that Tifa liked Cloud. She's not the type of girl who'll jump on anything that moves, the only guy she flirted with in the game was Cloud. Also, Aerith thinks of other people's happiness above her own, if she knew Tifa liked him, she'll probably wish Tifa good luck and play match maker for Cloud and Tifa, being the sweet girl she is .. =D

The way Tifa reacted at Aerith's death is enough proof to me that they're friends.

Aerith asked Tifa if she and Cloud had a 'thing' and Tifa said something like"No, you misunderstand. Cloud and I were childhood friends, nothing more" That seems to indicate that Aerith never knew Tifa liked Cloud. But later on in the prison, when Aerith learns that Tifa is in the same cell with Cloud, she says "Tifa?! Tifa, you're there too?" Was she jealous or just surprised that they were together?
But then Aerith doesn't seem like the jealous type :unsure:

Aerith didn't actually ask if Tifa had a thing for Cloud, but Tifa did tell Aerith that she didn't have a thing for Cloud:

Tifa "...And you are?" "Hey you're the one with Cloud in the park..."
Aerith "Right, with Cloud."
Tifa "Oh....."
Aerith "Don't worry. We just met. It's nothing."
Tifa "What do you mean, 'Don't worry'... about what?" "No, don't misunderstand." "Cloud and I grew up together. Nothing more."

If anyone sounds jealous in that passage, it's Tifa. :lol: Aerith seems to catch on in that scene that Tifa had a thing for Cloud, but nothing was said about it later in the game... so we can't be sure that Aerith knew.

I think she was just surprised. She wasn't even sure that Cloud was in the next cell. She just called out wondering if Cloud could hear her. Of course, I guess she may have sensed him, too. Aerith and Cloud always seemed to have that kind of connection to me.

A lot of Clotis have the notion that Aerith did know but because Tifa was shy and never said anything, Aerith "took advantage of the situation and started hitting mercilessly on Cloud while poor Tifa looked on" I just hate it when they morph Tifa into some kind of tragic heroine who "suffered" from seeing Aerith and Cloud's chemistry. :/

Y'know, I just thought of something. In this scene, both women deny any romantic attachment with Cloud. But the context in which they say it is really different. Aerith hastily assured Tifa that her being in the park with Cloud was 'nothing' because they just met. But Tifa denied that she and Cloud had something going on although she does mention that they were childhood friends(even if they weren't)
So they severed any possibility of being 'attached' to Cloud...but not the possibility of being attracted to him in the future. I'm guessing this is where the subtle contest began to win Cloud's affection. Oh wait, what am I saying? There was no contest, it's up to the player ^_^

I've never had any doubt that Tifa and Aerith were friends during the game - especially with her reaction to Aerith's death, as Kusari pointed out. The fact that they were always seeming to pair off and chat with each other was another big fact for me.

I love when clotis accuse Aeris of being a bitch because she asked Cait Sith to find out how compatable she and Cloud were. Aeris says it regardless of whether Tifa's there or not. Tifa acts irritated while it's happening, but really, Aeris can't win either way. If Aeris asked in front of everyone EXCEPT Tifa, then the CloudxTifa fans would accuse her of sneaking around behind Tifa's back. <_<

to me, Tifa did act jealous in the cell, really.. I don't know why. I've played that part a few times, and it seemed that way.

Well, IF Aerith asked Cait Sith about their compability, and Cait Sith said like "OHMYGOD your stars don't match, sorry!", then I think the CloTis woudn't have minded.-- some CloTis even add stuff like, Aerith was FORCING Cait Sith to tell, they said she was being all "desperate" and "begging". Gah, whatever laaah. well at some point I feel Tifa DOES get jealous in the game, but she's usually quiet or maybe a little sarcastic about it. This however, doesn't really affect her relationship with Aerith, there's no "Ur my love rival-I must defeat you!!" thing going on. If I hated someone, I'd avoid them. Tifa and Aerith don't avoid each other, they talk to each other, and give almost everyone the impression that they were close friends. In the party, the only other girl was Yuffie and I guess Yuffie's immature ness didn't exactly fit well with Tifa and Aerith's. Yuffie's with Red, Tifa with Aerith. Plus Tifa seems to understand Aerith really well, maybe even more than anyone else in the party did.

You're a girl. A very extroverted girl. Your friend, whose very introverted, likes the same guy as you do...but she never does anything about it. What, are you supposed to withold your feelings for the guy just because your friend is doing the same thing? The Clotis seem to think that Aerith was oblivious to Tifa's feelings but flirted with Cloud anyway even if she knew she was hurting Tifa. The point is, Aerith knew Cloud was special. I believe she was developing real feelings for him, not just some silly fangirl crush---and that showed in her actions, they were her way of letting him know how she felt. She said it herself "I want to meet you". Would she say that if her feelings for Cloud were just trivial and silly? I don't think so. If Aerith knew that Tifa liked Cloud, does that make her a bad person for showing Cloud how she felt because she liked him too? Nope. Tifa concealed her growing feelings, Aerith let them show through her actions. If anything, it shows how different their characters are, although Clotis keep saying it just shows Aerith's bitchiness.
Oh well...

I definitely think Tifa and Aerith were great friends, they always seemed to get along well and enjoy each others company (you know, how they always pair off together. ;) ) Of course they both liked Cloud, but they didn't let that get in the way of their friendship, I felt if either girl 'won' the other would be upset but they wouldn't be like 'OMIGOSH!@!1! I H8TE J001!!1!'. I thought it was cool that each of them had another girl to talk to through the game. I thought at first Tifa felt confused and maybe 'threatened' by Aerith's presence, that's why she treated her like that in the beginning, but it's not like Tifa to tell this complete stranger whether she's in love with Cloud or not, Tifa's too shy. And Aerith knew Cloud was there, so she didn't say anything. And Tifa acted the way she did in the jail cell because, well, if you really liked a guy, then this girl who you didn't meet too long ago talked about going on a 'date' with him, what would you do? (Having Tifa in the Temple of the Ancients is optional, so feh. :P). I think she had to tell Aerith of her presence in the jail cell, and Aerith didn't know, I think Aerith was suprised, not jealous. ;)

I think it's silly how some Clotis have a Tifa-hates-Aerith complex and use it to support their ship. Even if Tifa did hate Aerith, how would that prove that Cloud loves Tifa?*coughThroughTifa'sEyescough*

Well the problem is, the CloTis don't understand Aerith's character at all. They're reasons are :; Aerith's annoying, flirty, a boyfriend stealer, stupid and blind coz she's unable to see that Cloud really loves Tifa!!!, evil and bitchy because she doesn't care about Tifa's feelings, blah blah and blah!!! Well, it's actually really sad for them CloTis, because Tifa doesn't hate Aerith and vice versa. When Aerith died, did Tifa just cry in tears of happiness!?!! She didn't, she+Yuffie broke down and cried for her, and if people could believe that Yuffie cared for Aerith, why can't they believe Tifa did too? Aerith, she's sweet. How could she hate anyone who doesn't threaten people or wanna kill/destroy things? They both have no reasons to dislike each other, it's totally uncharacteristic of them to//

The CloTis find Aerith to be flirty and childish with Cloud. But yeah, I agree. Aerith does act mature , I mean if you look deep, what she says have hidden meanings and it's not like goes all "Cloud, you're so cute. Be my boyfriend. I love you. " ISH. Sure there are moments where she can be a little childish, but there are also times where she's REALLY serious and you think she's a complete different person from what you thought of her at first. But of course the 'Aerith loves Cloud coz he'z Zack!" theory's worse. That's a different topic already. :whistle:

Aerith and Tifa aren't able to hate each other because they both care for each other, PLUS Cloud. They'll want their friend and love interest to be happy, the girls are humans with a heart, not evil witches.

That's how I felt their relationship was too, they weren't the type to hate each other over love, sure they both love Cloud a lot, but they're also friends. ;)

Well, from my perspective, I think Aeris and Tifa were friends/companions who got along really well. I didn't really get the sense, though, that they were super close or really had that special friendship bond. Tifa did cry when Aeris passed away, but I think it was more due to the fact that the flower girl was such a kind and caring companion. I mean, after having journeyed with someone for months, wouldn't you grow attached to them, especially if you never hated them to begin with? Even the rest of the companions were upset, and I'm sure Aeris wasn't super close to all of them, right?

Considering the fact that other than Yuffie, they were the only girls in the group and both had romantic feelings for the same guy, I'm sure they did understand each other most. I agree with you guys that, at first, Tifa had seemed a little jealous...but later on, that jealousy really didn't play a part at all. What I don't believe in is that they had hated each other. It's ridiculous that some fans portray them as having been enemies who'd been ready to jump on each other's throat over Cloud.

Now, I'm not exactly sure that they were such good friends that they would have played matchmaker for one another concerning Cloud, but what I do know is that they both happen to care very deeply for him, and had been willing to let him choose who he loves as long as he's happy. It's exactly how I saw the ending when Tifa willingly accepted Cloud's choice to go meet Aeris in the Promised Land.
