I was playing the game last night and he said that he could hear the cry of the planet. Does that make him and Acient? I was just wondering becuase I know that Aerith said that she could and she thought it was because she was an Acient. Someone please answer this for me.

Wow!Never thought of that.Is it because of all the machines he has?Are they hearing the cries?

There was a scene in the game that everyone in the Highwind bridge heard the noise as well.

I guess the Planet literally complains time to time.

Yep. Tifa and Cloud also heard the Planet's cries near the end of the Lifestream Event.

Bugenhagen says this in the Forgotten City in Disk Two:

Bugenhagen "I'm not an Ancient. I can't read this thing!"

So no... he's not an Ancient. However, Bugenhagen understands the consciousness of the Ancients as they explain the use of Holy to him in Disk Two while they're in the Forgotten City, like Aerith did in the Temple of Ancients. It must be due to his knowledge.

And the fact the Cosmo Canyon has a lot of information regarding Planet Life and the Cetra (it was implied Gast used to hang out in that place as well) for Bugenhagen to look into.
