Title: When Making Fmv's...

When making them, how do you get the noise out of the background? Like I just made an Aerith Tribute (which I think sucks, but okay) and you can still hear the music from the game. I was just wondering how you get rid of the music.

The method that I used for my CxA video was to put the scenes together in Nero Vision Express. For each scene, there's a Properties window where you can choose how loud the volume for the clip will be. I turned the volume of each scene down to zero and the final product had none of the original audio.

That's probably not the "correct" way to do it, but hey, it worked for me. :P

Another way I found was to use VirtualDub to cut out the scene I want. Under the "Audio" tab, I chose "No audio". Then I saved the part as an AVI, and there's absolutely no sound.

Figures that I'd only figure that out AFTER finishing my CxA video.

Hope that helps!

I don't want to download another program, but I use Windows Movie Maker. If you watch my vid and listen VERY carefully, you can hear the bg music. Thanks for the help though Lynn. If you know something that'll help me with WMM, please, let me know :huggle:

Sadly, I don't use WMM so I wouldn't know how to remove audio using that. There must be a method, though. Perhaps check a forum or its help files?

I usually highly recommened VirtualDub because it's a well-known, popular program... and most importantly, it's free! :D So if you're worried about viruses and the like, just download the program off the official site and there should be no problem.

Not sure if you still need help or not, but I'm currently practicing to make a Cleris video with my windows movie maker. At the bottom where you see "transition", "Audio", Audio/Music", and "Tittle overlay", you have to right click on "audio" and go to mute. That should mute the bg music and sounds. However, I think you have have to do this for each of the separate clips that you add on. Hope that helps a bit.

Lynn, regarding VirtualDub, is it a program to make videos, or it just helps to capture scenes so that you can use these scenes in a video maker program?

You can use VirtualDub to splice videos and join separate ones together. I've heard that you can also replace the original audio with a new one using it. And there's supposedly a whole lot more you can do, but I'm not too sure since I've just been using it to capture small movies before this.

But I don't think it has things like scene transitions that you would find in Window Movie Maker, Nero Vision Express, Adobe Premier etc. So I wouldn't think of it as the program to make music videos with.

Oh okie thanks! I am having problems opening the AC video with WMM, so was just wondering if there are other programs that could open it and splice scenes from it..i'll give VD a try! :huggle:

VirtualDub doesn't seem to like my AVI version of AC, and I think it just did something to it that's causing it to lag a bit. :/ Better get to downloading a new copy...

[EDIT] Tested it with another video, and it also lags. Hmm, maybe it's a computer problem instead...

What I usually do is cut out the general scene I want using River Past Video Slice, then edit it down to the second using VirtualDub. Something tells me this is all unnecesary extra work, but oh well. Anything for AC. :P

But for the most part, VirtualDub opens all AVI files. Just go to its forums if you need help. They're quite thorough with any problems you may encounter.

Thanks, I'll try that and I'll get back to you ^_^
