Every once in a while, my computer does stuff to annoy me with the smallest problems. I would appreciate any help anyone could offer me... you'll probably get a good laugh at me and my computer illteracy out of it in return. xD;

- I use Windows XP Professional. When I started the computer one day, and visited the "My Computer" panel, the sidebar containing the usual quick links to My Documents, etc. disappeared. :blink: I've restarted the computer several times since then, but the sidebar never reappeared again. Any way to get it to return?

I'm sure most of you know what I mean, but here's a screenshot just in case:

[EDIT] Okay, fixed the missing desktop problem. Ended up restarting the computer anyway. But there's still that teeny problem above.

Mine does that sometimes, but it eventually comes back. Does yours not come back at all after a few seconds?

Hiya SN, sorry for the late reply. :( But it did finally return, yesterday. Can you believe it?! It's never taken this long before to return! *dies*

And I swear my computer LIVES to torture me. Now another problem has cropped up, this time to do with a XviD codec installed in my comp. It's somehow causing the Videos section of my Windows Explorer to crash, so that I can't access the folders long enough before the window forcibly closes itself.

This never happened before, and I'd merely uninstalled and reinstalled the exact same codec pack, when it started happening a few days later.

Perusing the XviD forum to see what I can do about it right now, but honestly... if it weren't the threat of all my anime and mp3s being wiped out, I'd be opting for a complete reformat of this computer to remove god-knows-what that's crapped it up. <_<

[EDIT] Woo hoo, problem solved! All I had to do was uninstall the old K-lite Codec Pack and install the newer version. I was having K-lite Codec Pack (Standard) 2.50 before this, but the 2.64 version works like a charm!
