Why Is Barret the only Black man in the Game?

There's more black dudes in the game. For example that guy in Don Corneo's place. I don't remember his name, though. :lol:

You also have to take into consideration how many blacks the Japanese run into daily. Barret's speech style is the perfect example of just how little contact the Japanese have with a regular black person, that they resorted to using a stereotypical speech style for Barret's character.

Actually Lynn... even if the character is Russian, English, an Underground Reptile or a Person From Outer Space, all speak perfect Japanese with the correct accent and inflection. ^^

Oh! *headdesks* I was referring to Barret's speech style in the English version, which seemed to perpetuate the stereotype that all blacks speak in ebonics. Which I would attribute to the writers not having a lot of exposure to blacks...

Hmm. Was SE the one who translated FFVII into English? I seem to remember a lot of complaints about the translation being butchered because they didn't do it themselves.
