Title: I Can't Help But Cry!
cloudnine - October 27, 2005 06:40 PM (GMT)
You know when Aerith is killed? Has anyone else noticed that Cloud pulls her body towards him as much as possible while he's talking... and the music on top of that and the whole death thing makes me cry so badly
I just needed to say that...
afterglow - October 28, 2005 07:40 AM (GMT)
well...erm...i guess everyone here feels the same way.
Toxo - October 28, 2005 07:46 AM (GMT)
Yeah, it's sad. :cray: It's a shame that when Sephiroth's sword went trough Aeris there weren't any blood.

I'm glad there wasn't any blood. If there were I wouldn't have been able to stand it! Just seeing her eyes shut was heartbreaking enough.

The blood would have been a dramatic effect, but to me, I think it would've ruined Aerith's "perfect" symbolization. I know she's not perfect, but... it would've tainted her in a way. ^_^" Meh... I don't know how to put it...
But yes, everything was so beautiful it made me cry. And the other times I watched it.
shleedo - October 30, 2005 01:59 PM (GMT)
well the sword did go quite fast and blood cudda rubbed off by her dress.
but blod may of made it more upsetting, unless square-enix (formerly squaresoft at the time) forgot to put it on.
Sefie - October 30, 2005 05:35 PM (GMT)
But Square convinently remembered to make Sephiroth bleed from Cloud's Omnislash ;)
I think that the lack of blood for Aeris was because of the myth of the masamune. It's said to be a holy weapon, and that if it were thrown into a lake with a layer of leaves on top, it would slide in peacefully and the leaves wouldn't be ruffled.
Cetra_Aerith - October 30, 2005 05:42 PM (GMT)
well.....
I agree with Hopeful Angel.... the blood would have ruined her symbolization of purity, innocence and perfection....and how on this world this emotions die easily because they're so fragile and delicate....*sigh* yeah Aerith represented what the nowadays world needs .....*sniff* I still cry when I see her die
Daga15 - October 7, 2006 05:23 PM (GMT)
i didnt cry.
No. When sephiroth killed aeris i was so shocked that i only thought:
It cant be real. Is not true. Aeris has not die, she only is injuried, she will open her eyes very son and cloud will be so happy...
But no. I waited, smiling, when cloud cried saying:
Aeris will no lo noger laugh..
I thought:
Aeris, i think is time for you to open your eyes!
But then...i realized she was taking so much to open her eyes.
And then, when cloud is in the lake with aeris in his arms, then i finally realized it.
Aeris was dead.
And so...i began to cry.
I saw aeris underwater, and i was soooooooo sad!!!
it was not a joke, aeris was really dead, it couldnt be!
Crying, i went to bed. Very angry.
Yasu - October 17, 2006 06:29 PM (GMT)
All I got was tingling, lots of it - I hated it when Cloud shook her in anger in his arms.
But the river really started to pour when he let her go and she just sank... her hair floating out behind her.
;___;
Aerith white feather - October 17, 2006 07:57 PM (GMT)
I don't even wanna remember it. :(
Also, there was no blood, cuz Square removed it for the children, who might be playing the game. There was blood in AC, but not so much.

The bullets that shot Tidus/Shuyin and Yuna/Lenne in X-2 must have been made out of the masamune then.
The reason for there not being blood when Aeris bied is because it would raise the ESRB rating.
Any sort of blood during an attack, gushing out, pouring out, spraying out can raise it to Mature. I this case Aeris was stabbed from the back. Blood should have been gushing out, but it didn't because it would raise the game to Mature and thus lesser sales. The end when Sephiroth bled was borderlining it. But they didn't show Cloud cutting him up and with blood spraying everywhere. They showed Clouds limit and then showed Sephiroth bleeding after that.
>_>
Gtg... brb.
Sefie - October 18, 2006 12:30 AM (GMT)
Mista- Mm, good point about the bullets, but would there have really been time to show the blood? *Thinks* I can't remember...

I think blood is removed because of the romantic sense in the scenes, even though Aerith is killed I find her death a scene filled with hate, sadness, grief but also love. Its the same with Lenne and Shuyin, he was trying to reach for his lover as she had been injured, he was trying to save her.
Blood would have taken out the romantic sense completely.

While this does make some sort of sense, I still believe the ESRB rating was a bigger factor in there being no blood.
Since I'm bringing up a comletely non-FF subject up about the ESRB, let's stray from Final Fantasy for a moment. Think about any videogame with a Teen ESRB rating like Final Fantasy VII that had any sort of sword violence with animated blood gushing, pouring, or spraying out. You won't find it anywhere. The most you'll ever get is blood just there, not moving, or fighting game animation blood that you can't really call blood.(I have Tekken 3 in mind)
I don't know how I really know this kind of stuff... I think I got into a similar debate about censoring parts of animes and such a little while ago in another forum... Ah well.
Hades' Daughter - October 18, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
The thing is, they didn't have to portray blood spraying or even gushing out. They could have simply had some blood on the sword when Sephiroth pulled it out or something. I don't think it would have made that much of a difference to the rating at all. I mean, they were perfectly okay with throwing blood all over Sephiroth.

If I had to make a guess, I'd go with what you're saying here.

I didn't cry when she was killed because I was completely shocked. The part where I did cry was at the end of the game right after you defeat Sephiroth and Cloud and Aeris are reaching towards each other. The expression on Cloud's face is priceless.
When I replay the game, I do feel very sad at that scene, but the scene that always makes me cry is the one I mentioned above.
BusterBlader - November 3, 2006 02:47 AM (GMT)
I was hit really hard when Aeris died. I started crying on the inside and wanted to cuss out Sephiroth for killing Aeris. Aeris, in my opinion was very important and I think that Aeris should've waited and sacrifice herself at the end that way Cloud could discover more of himself through the guidance of Aeris. I also think that if Aeris died, cloud would go down with her so they would be together in the Lifestream *whew*
eilie504 - December 24, 2006 07:59 AM (GMT)
Worse part of the game....
I always used her in battle , she was very usefull to me.
And I cried when she died ! Which is soooooo weird cuz I was in a room full of people!
tifa hater - January 12, 2007 11:28 AM (GMT)
