Title: Who Is Aerith Talking To?
Clorith - October 26, 2005 12:30 PM (GMT)
"He was like a white cloud drifting through azure skies. As we peered skyward through the rafters of a heavenless Midgar--we made a promise. And that was the last time we spoke."
Aerith talks about Zack as the clouds roll by in the heavens, a stark contrast to the action scenes that follow soon after. What I'm wondering, though, is who exactly is she talking to? It feels as if the person is either someone who knows Zack really well, or someone who doesn't know him at all. I'm leaning towards the former at the moment. Any thoughts on this?
"A story of three young men and one young woman bound for destiny's core."
Clerith-son - October 26, 2005 04:08 PM (GMT)
Maybe, she's just talking to the player. I mean, Aerith saying that, might only be just commercial words. As some stuff, seen on the AC trailers, but never seen in the movie.
Clorith - October 27, 2005 02:17 AM (GMT)
The old footage in the AC trailers was editted, but they kept the dialogue all the way till the actual thing. This is the opening of the very first Crisis Core trailer, I don't think it's meaningless...
Hmm... Time for wild guesses. Nomura and Kitase have both said that Crisis Core will give us a new look at the Compilation, and I remember reading an old interview where they said it'll tie up the whole thing. It feels to me like a look back at what has come to pass, and what happened in the background that we weren't shown before. I guess that's why I think it might be about the afterlife, but then again I might be very wrong.
Now, provided I'm somewhat right, the tone of that part of the trailer, with Aerith looking to the skies, keeps making me think of "Reminiscence", that part at the end in the flower field. And here my very "foolish romanticist" of a Cleris side is rooting for CC to begin with Cloud and Aerith sitting in the flower field, reflecting on what happened to each of the 4 of them. Or at the very least, what happened to Zack.
I know, it's a long shot. But a girl can dream. And at least, we'll know that although Aerith can't be physically there with Cloud, the two of them will always be together. :cleris:
I wonder what Nomura and Kitase meant by CC changing our perception of things. Our perception of... what?
Anyways, any other wild guesses?
Clerith-son - October 27, 2005 02:50 AM (GMT)
Perhaps, it'll just explain some loose points, such as the whole "Cloud being a Sephiroth/JENOVA clone" thing, Zack and Aerith's relationship, and mostly of all, Zack and Cloud's relationship.
Marionette - October 27, 2005 08:02 AM (GMT)
I always assumed that she was talking to herself thinking about that special moment she and Zack shared and reliving it, so to speak.
...But I must say I do prefer your version Clorith!
Clorith - October 29, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
Because my version is full of Cleris bias. :lmao:
I was just thinking she was talking to someone else the other day, coz they keep saying Zack's the main character. If we were playing as him, wouldn't he be the one narrating...?
Lynn - October 29, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
I'm rooting for your version too, Clorith! :yahoo:
I'm thinking this is similar to how Tidus narrates in FFX-- it's to nobody in particular, except to the player. Although you make a good point that it's usually done by the main character, and I can't think of any examples yet where the narration is not done by the main character.
But I'm sure there are! Somewhere. >.<
Although you could consider Aerith one of the main characters, since the game is about three men and a woman...
But that is SO boring now, compared to your version. *dreams along wif you*

:o
Nomura has to read that. They have to do it. Clorith, I would pay a trillion dollars to have you work as the writer in Square-Enix. I want that version!!!! :lmao: :lmao:
*coughbacktoseriousmodecough*
Somehow that part of the trailer always thought it was young Aerith just reminiscing to herself as she looked up through Midgar, since I don't think you can see the sky from Midgar. It reminds me of Reeve narrating in LO, only now it's Aerith. It would make sense for her to narrate as she is the main heroine after all, like how Yuna was narrating in X-2.
But but...I want Clorith's version... :cray:

:lmao: I want my version, too!

But you make a point right there! Aerith never leaves Midgar from the age of 17-22, so why would she be able to see the sky?
So right now we have either:
1) Aerith has gone slightly crazy and is now talking to herself
2) Aerith will be playable in CC! :fangirl:
Paksenarrion - November 1, 2005 06:23 AM (GMT)
And if she's playable in CC... Maybe it will be from a point after her death. She'll run around shooting Lifestream beams out of her fingers.
I'm also gonna jump on the "Clorith Version" bandwagon.
Clorith - November 1, 2005 08:05 AM (GMT)
:lmao: Yeah! And she can train up until she can do that massive Great Gospel for AC!! :lmao:
Oh please have Aerith talking to Cloud in the flower fields, I hope I pray! It'll be so much like what she said to him in the Temple of the Ancients, "Someday we'll look back on these hard times and laugh."
:fangirl:
Such foolish romanticists, all of us.
Clerith-son - November 2, 2005 04:39 AM (GMT)
I'm still digging in the game's name: Crisis Core. It sounds as if it will occur at the verge of the crisis, but: What crisis? It can't be JENOVA's fall, because BC happens a lot after it, and it is supposed that the characters in it (CC) will be already known character. So, I'll rise my question again: What Crisis? Nibelheim even again? SE, please, noooooo...!!!
Lynn - November 2, 2005 08:44 AM (GMT)
Nooo, no more Nibelheim, please!
If there's ANY reason for me to fangirl over Sephiroth, it would be after he burns the memory of that town to dust. <_<
Does anyone think it might deal with Cloud and Zack's travels together? It's said that they escaped about a year prior to FFVII's beginning, so that's plenty of time to get a little sidestories in... Although that feels more like a anime plot to me than a game's.

Perfect! :lmao: And you'll have Jessie, Biggs and Wedge as her back-ups! Press the O button correctly and Jessie will appear with a flaming bazooka!

AHAHAHAHAHAHHAA. That made me laugh so bad I almost died. Paksenarrion, I worship thee!!!
I would be the first to pay a million dollars to be able to use Aerith like that. :lmao: :lmao: THAT'S AWESOME. :lmao:
Clorith - November 2, 2005 06:10 PM (GMT)
*at what everyone's said above* :lmao:
Yeah, that's my option B! It's either about the afterlife, or Cloud and Zack escaping. But what I'd really like would be everything told from the afterlife *coughsintheflowerfieldcoughs*, including Cloud and Zack escaping. :lmao: Greedy, I know. :P
The reason is that I really can't see how Sephiroth is going to fit into this, if it's about Cloud and Zack running away from ShinRa. Sephiroth at that point of time was floating around somewhere in the Lifestream, what's there to tell?! :lmao: "'Oooh... Pretty green lights,' Sephiroth said with glee." :lmao:
If it's about the afterlife, though, we might just find out how Sephiroth was controlling Geostigma! :woot:
Greed is a very deadly sin. :P

I have an example of narration done by a character other than the lead. In Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, Kaileena narrates not the prince. So it is highly possible that Aerith tells the story all the way and not just the trailer. :aeris:
¤lonewolf¤ - December 10, 2006 03:57 AM (GMT)
It seems more like a narration. Aeris lived alone with her mother for most of the time due to the fact that she was chased constantly. I don't imagine her being that open with anyone about her relationship with Zack.
I think Clorith's version wouldn't be completely impossible. In fact, I can only narrow this down to two people. Aeris is either talking to the player (or narrating/reminiscing) or Cloud.
Another choice woud be Ifalna, but I am hesitant because she seemed against the relationship.

I doubt that very much. There are so many things Aeris would not know about the inner workings of Soldier, Project Genesis and even Sephiroth himself. Especially the Nibelheim incident. Zack can be the only narrator. Unless CC starts at present time (Aeris in the Lifestream) and goes back in a flashback of sorts (I imagine Aeris found out most of what happened at Nibelheim when Cloud fell in the Lifestream). But even then, it would be illogical to have her narrate when Zack would be a much better choice concerning the Shinra/Soldier/Genesis stuff. :ermm:
