FF_Goddess - October 24, 2005 05:32 PM (GMT)
I think "Aerith" is the correct one. After all, they did change it from "Aeris" to "Aerith" in AC and used "Aerith" in the later subsequent games that she appeared in (like the three KH games and IS). However, it doesn't bother me if people use "Aeris". They are both beautiful names. I used "Aerith" because I think it is the most correct, but I actually think "Aeris" is prettier (it sounds like "heiress"). :aeris:
Cetra_Aerith - October 24, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
I don't really mind...they're both beautiful...and besides....Aerith is prettier written...while Aeris sounds better when said :winner: :aeris:
Holy_Aeris - October 24, 2005 07:19 PM (GMT)
I don't actually mind, both of them sound good. Although if you asked me about 3 years ago, i would of said Aeris, becuse i've grown on saying Aeris a lot, but now i say whatever one i fee like saying!
cloudnine - October 24, 2005 07:36 PM (GMT)
I've always said 'Aeris' but I personally don't mind. And I agree with Cetra_Aerith that 'Aerith' looks prettier written than 'Aeris' does. ^_^
Azumi - October 24, 2005 07:56 PM (GMT)
I perfer Aerith, like FFG I think it's the most correct seeing how it only became Aeris in the NA version of FFVII but like everyone else, I don't mind both names are very pretty.
Real_Emotion - October 24, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
I don't really care. Aeris and Aerith are both pretty to me. But, I use Aeris cause I'm way too lazy to type out the 'th'. :P
Pyra Kurai Akaidra - October 25, 2005 11:40 AM (GMT)
I dun really mind, though I use Aerith more since I saw that name first in KH before FF7.
Anastar - October 25, 2005 01:52 PM (GMT)
I don't really mind, coz both names are pretty. I use "Aerith" because I like it more, but it's fine with me when people say "Aeris". I also agree that "Aerith" looks prettier in writing.
Clorith - October 25, 2005 02:00 PM (GMT)
I really don't know. I like to type "Aerith", but my friends and I say "Aeris", so we're just a confused bunch. :lmao: And I think we'll go on like this until they offically call her by her name in KHII.
*practises saying "Aerith"* :aeris:
Scott - October 25, 2005 04:58 PM (GMT)
Now, don't yell at me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure of this.
There are 3 variations of the name "Aerith".
1 is "Aerith"
2 is "Aeris"
3 is "Earith"
In Japenese, the "th" at the end of "Aerith" and "Earith" are pronounced "s".
So really, they are all the same.
I personally prefer "Aeris".It's just the way I'm used to it.

WOW!!! what a debate 22 votes. this forum is Xtremely active!!!!
Nina - October 25, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
Since I ever played FFVII, and I have learned Aeris's name and was first introduced her that way, I say that I like Aeris more. ^_^ I agree that Aerith looks prettier written and Aeris is better when said. I actually like both names, so I use either one when I feel like it. :3
Oya, and at first when I played KH, when I saw Aerith's name I'm like... WTF? Because I thought her name was awkward. But I don't know what I was thinking that time because now I think it sounds byootiful. :fangirl:
*Aeris*&*Cloud* - October 26, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
Aeris is the correct way 4 me.....
Cetra_Aerith - October 26, 2005 02:14 PM (GMT)
I was looking 4 pics and I saw Aerith...and I was like
but I got used to typing Aerith but I still say Aeris :)
Meggie - December 26, 2005 10:16 PM (GMT)
Aerith is better than Aeris...i vote Aerith!
012607 - December 26, 2005 10:23 PM (GMT)
Aerith, for sure.
It looks nicer, and in writing deciding between Aeris' and Aeris's is just too troublesome.
Toxo - December 26, 2005 10:25 PM (GMT)
I speak of 'Aeris' when I talk of the FFVII or AC, but if I speak of KH I'll say 'Aerith'. :aeris:
Luna-Nayru - December 26, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
I don't know... I like both a lot. I typically say "Aerith" when talking about KH or AC, and "Aeris" when I'm talking about FF7. Both are pretty and fun to say, though. :aeris:
Alan Bates - December 26, 2005 11:24 PM (GMT)
Aeris. Whenever I hear anybody say Aerith, it sounds like they've got a lisp.
Schala - December 27, 2005 12:38 AM (GMT)
I don't mind either way. I think Aeris sounds nicer just because I'm used to it, but then again Aerith looks better...
daydreamer198 - December 27, 2005 01:07 AM (GMT)
Aren't they both pronounced the same? I vote Aerith.
FinalfantasyForeverx3 - December 27, 2005 02:55 AM (GMT)
I think Aeris is more correct because her name is erisu(sp) right?
Materia Thief - December 27, 2005 03:41 AM (GMT)
It never really mattered to me, I always found it more of a cosmetic difference than anything. XD
Anastar - December 27, 2005 04:03 AM (GMT)
Since SE has used both names, I think both names are correct. Her name is Aerith in Kingdom Hearts I and II, for example. They've obviously used the name Aeris, too.
I just use "Aerith" all the time because I think it's prettier, but I don't think one name is more "correct" than the other.
AmayaSaria - December 27, 2005 05:09 AM (GMT)
I agree with Anastar.
Both are pretty names, so it doesn't really matter as much to me. Aeris for FF-related (AC too) and Aerith KHs related.
Aerith and Aeris are just pretty names! ^__^ And she's still a great character!
:aeris:
-Testament- - December 27, 2005 09:46 AM (GMT)
I prefer both spellings, when I talk about FF7 I say Aeris, but when I talk about KH I say Aerith.
ribbon - December 27, 2005 02:20 PM (GMT)
I always call her Aeris. :D

They're actually both pronounced the same, seeing as "th" in Japanese tends to be pronounced as an "s" anyway. Also, if you listen to AC and/or One-Winged Angel Sephiroth is often pronounced "Sephiross". >D
But I know what you mean. I tend to read it as "Aerith" in my head.
Love Blossom - December 27, 2005 02:59 PM (GMT)
Personally I don't really mind. I say both, but I started off saying 'Aeris'. ^_^

I second that! ^_^ It really doesn't matter to me... I think they're both beautiful names! Hearing it and seeing it. I have a friend named Heiress and it's pronounced the same way! Very pretty name.
PinkRibbon - December 28, 2005 02:17 PM (GMT)
Aerith looks more prettier than Aeris, but they're both pretty, and either way, pronounced the same way. But yeah, to me, Aerith looks more unique than Aeris.
Key - December 28, 2005 11:42 PM (GMT)
I think both variations of Aerith-chan's name are beautiful. "Aeris" slides off the tongue easier but I agree that "Aerith" looks better in written format. I see where the lisp complaint comes from, but I think it sounds lovely said aloud too. Almost like an elfin name. ^^
DeathGigas - December 29, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
lollz lets just combine the two names, which = Aeristh. :fanboy: :fangirl: :aeris:
Sora-kun - December 29, 2005 10:07 PM (GMT)
I don't mind i think the names are really cute nice and pretty in Europe she is normally called Aeris but somewhere else don't know where they call her Aerith =D
GothQueen13 - December 31, 2005 01:28 AM (GMT)
ive always thought of her as aerith, in kh, and ff7:ac, they are they use the same name, and in ff7 they use aeris, what up with that?...
Maiden - January 2, 2006 02:03 AM (GMT)
dont mind really i like both now
cause i used to like aerith cause aeris is a boys name in my country lol or state i should say lol
but it dont bother me they're both pretty :fangirl:
Vanessa Strife-Gainsborough - January 21, 2006 12:47 AM (GMT)
I really don't care what the name is! I just want my favorite character to have a name that Cloud will never forget!!! :lmao:
goddess_in_pink07 - February 8, 2006 08:32 PM (GMT)
It really doesn't matter to me. Aeris or Aerith. She's still the same caring person either way. :D
Kuraudo Sutoraifu - February 9, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
Ive always known her as エアリス.
Or Earisu Geinzubūru, too you guys.
But in your re-make she was Aerith, and then aeris.
Perhaps a mis-translation, or a deliberate change by sony.
But it all comes form hebrew. "Erith" means 'flower'.
And yeh, Aeris is better said, Aerith better writen.
