Title: Aerith's Parasol
Description: Impossible?
Tacoma - October 24, 2005 06:34 AM (GMT)
My latest challenge has been to level up Aerith and obtain her best weapons. I got her fourth limit break, Great Gospel, long before heading to Wutai. Since then, I have been perfectly content with exploring and random battles. However, I wonder how much longer I can do this for.
Now for the big one...
I realize that the easiest of the more powerful weapons to obtain is the Princess Guard. But it sucks you can only get it in the Temple of the Ancients, the last time you get to battle with her. I've decided not to bring her there yet and as tempting as it is to progress with the game, that's not my goal this time around.
I really, really want to get her that damned Parasol. But the only way is to score 5,000 points in Speed Square. I hate Wonder Square, it sucks all my gil and I hardly get enough GP from those cheesy games. The Speed Square mini-game is extremely difficult. My highest score was just a little over 2,000.
So, might anyone know of how I can finally get the GP guy to appear at the save point outside Gold Saucer? I've run in and out dozens of times and I can never find him. Have any of you been fortunate enough to obtain her Parasol? How on earth did you do it?

I think you have to rech a limit of GP earned, and he'll appear.

I got 4906 before, I was so extremely IRKED OFF! I've never gotten her parasol yet, I haven't played in awhile though, I'll have to soon. :P

I got the parasol....but the Aurora rod is stronger......why don't you get thaT one instead?

Beat the Mog game and the guy behind will give you 50 GP :)

I couldn't get GP, no matter how many times I ran in and out of the GS. <_< I had to come in after the Gold Saucer had actually closed and then reopened. <_< don't know how else you can get GP, except what Leon Geeste said. ^_^I got pretty good at the Basketball game in the Wonder Square, but you would have to have alot of gil to actually make your time worth it. -_-

The best way to get GP is entering your Chocobos in the races and winning them, you can pick the prize of the GP, but Aerith is dead after that :(

That Parasol is too hard to get! I didn't even get close to the number of points you were supposed to have! I did want to find out if it really was an umbrella though.
~Fury Brand~ - October 30, 2005 08:15 PM (GMT)
The Aurora Rod is not stronger Cetra_Aerith  It's benefit over the Umbrella is that it has materia slots. But if going for Strong ATK! Aerith materia isn't really needed anyway as it lowers strength :P
Umbrella is her best disc one weapon bar Princess Guard. If gotten as early as possible ( first visit to Gold Saucer) she'll have the strongest weapon out of everyone in the inventory  Plus the Umbrella has a high critical hit rate so Aerith has the chance of doing even more damage
Tacoma did you hit the flying saucer? Try to get it every time as it racks up 1000 points. Also watch out for a gold rock on top of a cliff in the Grand Canyon area, it gives 200 points I think. Balloons are excellent to rack up points, there's so many of them and they are amongst the easiest things to hit :D Helicoptors give good points if I recall correctly. The lights at the end of the ride give 200 points as well I think.
Also it's said if you hit the paddle wheel of the zeppelin aircraft you can break the points meter and it causes your points to shoot all the way up  I don't know though, I've never managed to hit it :P

isn't it just 30?
and oh well I never really used the parasol...it made nodifference really since I kiled all enemies w/Aerith in 1 blow anyway
OH!!!
and to get more points in the rollercoaster shoot & destroy that huge UFO at the end of the ride it gives you 1000 points and there's a sidelight that can B shot too... it's on the right side of the cart it gives you 300 points ;)

Me neither! I shot and shot and shot that thing!
cloudnine - October 31, 2005 10:43 AM (GMT)
Really? I've destroyed it loads of times. All you do is tap lightly on the button so your beam thingy is always full power and when it moves back into the shadows you continue to follow it and shoot it. It's really easy once you get the technique right :D
Ashe - October 31, 2005 11:43 AM (GMT)
Apparently if you have the PC version you can set your joystick so it shoots lots of powerful tiny beams all the time and just shoot away.
I have both PC and PS versions but I'm missing disc one of my PC version >:\ and I don't have a joystick XD
Cetra_Aerith - November 16, 2005 02:50 AM (GMT)
lol you have it easy then :lmao:
pretty much what Cloudnine said is all you need to get that big ol'thing....
oh and try to get the small ufo's as well...they count for a LOT too..and those red things that come outta the fire too....well I gotta let you do your thing  ^_^
