Title: The Saddest Movies You've Ever Seen
Description: What was the saddest?
Nevi - October 24, 2005 04:25 AM (GMT)
These were the biggest tear jerkers ever.
Imitation Of Life
I'll Be Seeing You
The Way We Were
Little Princess (The remake)
Cheaper By The Dozen (the original)
Life is Beautiful
Millennium Actress
The Barkleys Of Broadway
I cried in these. They were so good. Most of them are older movies.
What about you guys? What ones made you cry?
mallorn - October 24, 2005 08:10 AM (GMT)
Okay, it takes a really powerful movie for me to cry in the theaters, one of the recent movies that did so, (and which I HIGHLY recommend) is Whale Rider, with Keisha Castle-Hughes. Watch it! It's impossible not to be moved by this.
Raist - October 24, 2005 12:52 PM (GMT)
Ok I've cried in 4 movies. Well kind of 5 but one is an anime and it slightly doesn't count.
Titanic - I know it's somewhat cliche, but I LOVE Kate Winslet, and I just couldn't help it...
The Notebook - I saw this for the first time recently and it really hit home. I'm a hopeless romantic and it seems I'm a sucker for these soppy movies. And as above, I love the leading female role, Rachel McAdams.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - The two seperate movies were Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion. This was the first movie I ever cried in. It has my favourite classical music, some of the most heart wrenching scenes and the last half an hour of the movie is the most mind shattering and heart tearing thing I have ever seen.
Lastly, and somewhat obviously considering my current signature and avatar:
The Phantom of the Opera - This is my favourite movie to date. There is just something about the music, characters and actors of this film that pulls at my heart strings. I love it.
slowerthanaverage - October 24, 2005 01:30 PM (GMT)
Well, I'm a hopeless romantic too, and I tear very easily.
Offhand, 2 shows that made me cry like a baby
1) Titanic - yups, despite the criticism, I thought that Leonardo and Kate portrayed the couple beautifully, and their love was so tragic, yet eternally beautiful (Often how I envisioned Cleris you know, Cloud will live a happy and fulfilling life, because he knows that Aerith would want him to...and at the end of his days, he will reunite with her in the promised land :cray: )
2) Finding Neverland - Can I say I love Depp? Love Depp love Depp love Depp... and Kate Winslet again.. she portrayed the widow beautifully... It's overall very heart-wrenching :cray:
Kusari Yarou - October 25, 2005 04:44 AM (GMT)
1. My Girl- I always cry when cute little Macaulay Culkin dies
2. Grave of the Fireflies- it's just sooooo sad from beginning to end
Enima - October 25, 2005 05:04 AM (GMT)
There are so many till I dunno where to start.
1. Final Fantasy VII Advent Children = I have no idea why it makes me cry honestly  .
2. Edward Scissorshand - Well this one I think it made me cry because he was to be alone in the end and the girl never went back to him.
3. Ghost - This one made me cry because the scene of the two lovers parting in the end was very touching, even when Patrck Swayze cried I cried  .
4. Final Fantasy : The Spirits Within - This one was quite sad as Aki had to lose Gray in the end, after the revived their love for each other.
5. Interstellar 5555 - It was all music, but the storyline was sweet and yet sad . The artist and Daft Punk really brought life into the whole Anime  .
There are so many which I cried in, but can't remember all right now .
Kusari Yarou - October 25, 2005 05:23 AM (GMT)
Oh! I remember, I cry during Hook and Peter Pan whenever Peter leaves Wendy. Despite the magical factors, it's a very sad story really...
Bloodbath - October 25, 2005 02:35 PM (GMT)
Armageddon... GOD! I just watched it a few days ago, and I feel like crying, especially since my dad wasn't with me then. I haven't watched some of those movies mentioned, but this is the last movie I remember crying in:
A.I (Artificial Intelligence) ---> The ending made my cry so hard, especially with the "Fairy Godmother" theme, and with his mother. It didn't help that I watched it with my parents.
Anti-R - October 26, 2005 02:55 AM (GMT)
Schindler's List: Enough said. Anyone who've seen the movie should know why. Schindler crying "I didn't save enough" when all those hundreds of people are thanking him for taking care of them was so heart wrenching.
Kill Bill: Believe it or not. I emphatize a lot with Bill. He was simply acting upon human instincts and regretted it. You could still see he still loves the Bride, and that he was sorry for what he had done. He took his end like a man too.
Sense and Sensibility: When Elinor was waiting at Marianne's bedside, when the younger sister was sick and dying. The older one who never lets her emotions gets the better of her, broke down and cried "I tried my best to be strong. Dearest, don't leave me all alone".
The Godfather: When Michael Corleone joined the dark side, so to speak, because he love his father and wants to protect him from his enemies. Even if he knows he'll never go back ever again.
Little Women: When Beth died. "I know I shall be homesick for you. Even when I'm in heaven." And considering she was Jo's friend and confidante, it was so sad.
pink_fl0wers - October 26, 2005 05:36 PM (GMT)
Hmm... for me, Titanic always made me cry, because those two had only each other, and then Jack dies!
Then A Walk to Remember, because they are just all happy together and then she's like, I have Cancer. I felt so bad for him!

Tosca is an opera by the great Puccini! If you liked the music in Phantom Of The Opera, wait until your ears get a load of Recondita Armonia! Spectacular!
Raist - October 28, 2005 12:06 AM (GMT)
^ Torrent is currently downloading. I'm looking forward to this. Actually this reminds me of Russian Opera, I need to look into that...
Nina - October 28, 2005 08:18 AM (GMT)
I know I cried in many movies but these are the unforgettables:
The Phantom of the Opera: the ending was so... sad... I just don't want to spoil the ending  *gets reminded with Raist's awesome set*
The Notebook: it was so sweet. Omg. So sweet. I cried dramatically in this one... ;__; I loved it so much.. every moment the couple spent with eachother was so cute and romantic and when there was a twist and turn I really cried, especially when they were seperating.. and many, many other parts.. Also the way they reunited was so nice and the ending was so sweet that now... I am starting to cry again just remembering the ending scene :cray: So SHWEEET!!
Corpse Bride: I really loved Emily. She was awesome... but when Victor said, "of course I don't want to marry you" I could tell she was very hurt and I cried for her that moment. And also in the end... she was so cool... why...
Million Dollar Baby: I loved the father/daughter relationship of the boxer girl and the coach (sorry, I forget their names... it has been so long since I last watched it >_<). What happened from beginning to end was very interesting and I loved how their relationship developed. They started caring more and more for eachother each step of the way and had cute father/daughter bonds.. but the ending was oh so heartbreaking. ;__; I would say that the coach knew her and loved her best..
FFVII: AC: Everything Aeris did and the ending... I hope some people would know where I'm going with this :P
i pRomiSe** - October 28, 2005 11:32 AM (GMT)
I forgot about Phantom of the Opera! :o I cried at that one too.
And the Corpse Bride. Exact reason you cried, Trisha. D:
And ermm...that's it. xD So far.
Raist - October 28, 2005 04:19 PM (GMT)
I forgot about Phantom of the Opera!
The Phantom of the Opera: the ending was so... sad...
God I LOVE THAT MOVIE!
I'm going to watch it right now. :D
FF_Goddess - October 28, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)
What Dreams May Come and Titanic made me cry so bad. :cray:
Yukari - October 28, 2005 10:47 PM (GMT)
Titanic made me cry every time. And Advent Children gets me, especially the Kadaj bit and the Aerith bits.
I tend to cry at anime a lot too. I cried during the Fruits Basket anime when Hatori dreamed of his past with Kana, and how she said 'It would have been better if we had never met' after his eye was hurt, and also when Momiji's mother rejected him. I also cried at the episode of Trigun, called Paradise. If you've watched it, you'll know why. :cray:
Oddishness - October 28, 2005 10:50 PM (GMT)
The Lion King  Laugh all you like, but that was a truly touching movie...
Brother Bear I'm a sucker for these Disney movies.
Wolf's Rain Such a beautiful ending!!
Nina - October 29, 2005 07:16 PM (GMT)
I agree with the Wolf's Rain one, Oddishness!! And yeah, Disney movies are pretty touching... :cray:
Yeah, I cried at the same episode Madame Batolli... I LOVE MY NICHOLAS WOLFWOOD!!!   I forgot another movie: Nasaan Ka Man (tagalog movie).. it was about these two lovers but then the fiancee died and they didn't realize it until the end.. but you see when the girl is taking care of the baby, she feels her dead fiancee's presence around her and tries to look for him near these pretty trees.. and then he whispers in her ear but she still can't hear.. and then he gives her one good glance and walks away, while the girl can't see him but has cries some teardrops...
Difinity - October 29, 2005 09:33 PM (GMT)
Hmmm, let's see, I've cried during:
Titanic -- I know, I know. It's so cliched that a girl would cry during Titanic, but it's just so SAD at the end. And their love story was so beautiful!! According to my cousin who lives in Mexico, when they were playing Titanic in theaters over there, the theater employees were handing out little packets of tissues that said, "Para las mujeres" which means "For the women"! XD
Schindler's List -- It's just to heartbreaking and what makes it worse is that it's all TRUE; it all really happened. The ending is what really gets me though, when Oskar breaks down and cries in front of all of his people, claiming he didn't save enough. It hurts to watch because you know he saved so many but he still doesn't believe he did enough. That's just so heartwrenching for me. I wrote a research report on him and found out that he wanted to be buried in Jerusalem with the Jewish; he always thought of the Jews he saved as his children, and when he was asked why he wanted to be buried in Jerusalem he said, "My children are here."
The Green Mile -- Oh my GAWD. Every time I see this movie it's like I'm watching it for the first time. I always cry more than I did the previous time. It's just so sad, the ending especially. Watching the execution and then all of the guards' reactions hits me right in the heart! :cray:
Big Fish -- I LOVE Ewan McGregor. The movie...it was just beautiful. The ending was too beautiful. I couldn't help it.
Ghost -- Just saw it again recently. Waterworks galore. It's a lovely love story and it has Cleris written all over it. :cleris:
Humm...those are the only ones I can think of right now. But I'd highly recommend these movies ^^

I loved Big Fish I cried too! I really thought the movie was going to suck, but it didn't! I blew me off my feet!
And of of the best tear jerkers of all time is defiantly "Since You Went Away."
FinalFantasyPrincess - November 1, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
Umm let's see...
The Green Mile
Finding Neverland
Schlinder's List
Million Dollar Baby
I think there is more. I'll add explanations later.
Melster - November 1, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
The only movie I can think of right now is a korean movie. My sister, brother and I watched it together. It's called Taeguki. It's about two brothers who have to go to war. It was such a great movie.
Nevi - November 2, 2005 04:47 AM (GMT)
You know, they don't make movies as sad as they used to. Movies like "Since You Went Away" and "Imitation Of Life" make you cry your eyes out but I haven't seen any movies lately that move me to tears.
Another good tear jerker was "Legends Of Fall." I cried a lot.
FinalfantasyForeverx3 - January 22, 2006 10:36 PM (GMT)
Some movie called "cocoon" It's a scifi movie about living forever (the original one released in 1985)
And more recently "Memoirs of a Geisha" How the HECK can people critisize this movie I will never know, best love story i've ever seen.
Edit: Btw I agree oddishness the Lion king actually WAS a tear jerker! normally that's not a problem but re-viewing it in 11th grade band class and crying kind of is... :lmao:
AmayaSaria - January 22, 2006 10:51 PM (GMT)
Hmmm let's see.....Movies that made me sad/cry
Peter Pan (the real life one)....I always get so sad 'cause Peter doesn't stay with Wendy....
The Corpse Bride....::sniffles:: That was sad.....Emily was my favorite character....
Um...Full Moon wo Sagashite isn't a movie, but it's such a sad series it ALWAYS had me in tears....
And the most recent one was a movie on ABC Family I saw recently, it's called 'If Only'......Really a touching story, but sooooooooo sad!!!!! I really recommend seeing it !
daydreamer198 - January 24, 2006 08:30 AM (GMT)
Anybody seen Stairway To Heaven?
It's not actually a movie, but a Korean soap opera. I consider it a movie cos I bought the whole thing and watched it. :P
It is the saddest thing ever!!
Hmmm...maybe I don't want to spoilt it for anyone.
(if you've watched it, please PM me! :D Kwon Sang Woo rules!)
LeaveOnYourBrightLights - January 26, 2006 10:52 PM (GMT)

Paladin's Heart - January 26, 2006 10:59 PM (GMT)
The only movie that made me cry was the one where Sailor Saturn (or Pluto) Dies...I forgot what it was called.
A WALK TO REMEMBER...that was sad. It almost made me cry
Sephiroth's_girl - May 14, 2006 03:41 AM (GMT)

I don't actually watch it, my sister followed it the whole way through. But I caught it's storyline. Geez, do the Koreans like traumatizing their fans?! The Girl gets cancer, the Other Guy commits suicide in order to save her, the Girl dies anyway, and the Love Interest is left all alone! WTH?!
I prefer "My Sassy Girl", it had me in stitches, made me cry towards the end, but it's not an all-out miserable ending like that of Stairway to Heaven :ermm:
I cried at the Fullmetal Alchemist movie when Al screams out "NIISAAAAN!!!" as he and Edward are about to be separated forever. And Roy's holding him back and the look on Al's kawaii face is just devastating. Good thing they were ultimately reunited! :fangirl:

Oh yes, the scene where Harry apparates his dead body is a bit traumatising on part of the Triwizard audience, and especially for his dad!

*points* Heck not me! I was too busy being miffed at how it deviated from the book :P In the book, the fate of Jamie was ambiguous
