Title: Why Do You Think That Cloud And Aerith..
Description: ..are the couple MEANT to be?
Aerith - October 25, 2004 09:32 AM (GMT)
Here, you will say WHY do you think Cloud and Aerith were meant to be, why Cloud loved Aerith and why Aerith loved Cloud.
Cloud felt something special for Aerith since from the start! They laughed together NO MATTER what you did, he cried for her NO MATTER what you did ;_;
And then, there are all those games where they are together..
slowerthanaverage - October 25, 2004 04:26 PM (GMT)
Cloud "I think I can meet her there"
Tifa".........(damnit)"
:D
Sefie - October 28, 2004 04:09 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Cloud's line at the end was really just the clencher. I mean, up until then some of the stuff could be interpreted a little differently(not much though!), but that line. I mean, honestly! He just said that his supreme happiness is to be with Aeris! What does it MATTER what Tifa responded with? And like Aerith said "NO MATTER what you did". :P
Tifa Lockheart - October 28, 2004 02:21 PM (GMT)
Why do I think that Cloud and Aerith are meant to be together? As in MFEO (Made-for-each-other) 'til death do them part blah blah blah? ^_^'
*shakes the Magic 8 Ball*...
Because the Magic 8 Ball said "It is decidedly so."
Heehee. ^_^

LOLOLOL!!! Well! It must be true then! Magic 8 balls NEVER lie!

Cloud and Aeris belong together because their love is so innocent. They meet, like each other, and then fall in love. They're thrown into circumstances beyond their control, and tragically Aeris is lost to Cloud, someone he has sworn to protect. This clearly effects Cloud deeply, and it shows the player just how much he loved Aeris. He is tormented about not being able to protect her, and has vowed to destroy the man that covered his heart on darkness. Once he gets his vegence, Cloud is still distraught because he cannot get the one thing back that he wants most: the girl that stole his heart.
They deserve and desire to be together, two lost souls intertwined forever, but always apart. Put them together, Square! *sobs*

lets see.........well at first they laugh together cloud was like protecting her
and he was sad when she died then he says ''the promise land i think i can meet her there.

Yeah, that line sealed and certified it for me. The Promised Land was always associated with, and PROMISED supreme happiness. Why say that being with Aeris is his supreme happiness after seeing Aeris, if he loves Tifa?

While playing the game about 35+ times (I've lost count!), I never got the feeling that Cloud was anything more than good friends with Tifa. The first time I played it, I was certain that Cloud was going to tell Aerith he loved her after he found her in the Forgotten City. I had no idea what was going to happen.
I played the rest of the game, and I saw Tifa's affection for Cloud... but I never saw Cloud reciprocate it. It was pretty clear that he had a crush on Tifa as a kid, but I never saw Cloud demonstrate anything other than friendship to Tifa during the current events of the game. The Highwind scene did not seem at all romantic to me, whereas I found the hand reach scene to be incredibly romantic and beautiful. As others have said, Cloud saying, "I think I can meet her.. there" clinched it for me. I was certain at that point that Cloud loved Aerith and that he would continue searching for her, no matter what the cost.
I was very disappointed that the Film Festival showings of AC haven't portrayed Cloud as searching to be with Aerith... just the one magazine scan told us, "Meeting her again. That is my dream." I hope that Cloud says that at some point in the movie, though.

exactly!!!! Cloud has no romantic feelings for Tifa anymore. He did when he was a kid, but can we trust those feelings anyway? The hand reaching for Cloud was beautiful, and if he says that line about meeting her again, they're going to be able to hear my squealing all the way over in Japan, and I'm in America. LOL
Sefie - November 1, 2004 07:00 PM (GMT)
Well ya know, the two other plotline games Cloud's been shown in he was searching for Aeris. He's been portrayed as that from the ending of FFVII on. Why would they end that image now? I think it's more like, he feels too guilty now to search for her. Maybe that's how he'll end the game, he'll get his hope up, then charge off to find her. Or mayhaps he HAS been searching, but gets interupted by the SHM. Or maybe he was supposed to search, but SE decided they didn't want to disappoint the CloTi fans so they took that out
Coral - November 4, 2004 01:50 PM (GMT)
Maybe they won't take care of the fans and do something very personnal? I wish it will be so. ^^
Did you know that it was Nomura who had the idea of killing Aerith and emphasizing Tifa instead? <_< I didn't.
I just can't imagine Cloud with Tifa. I love Tifa but she just doesn't fit with Cloud, I couldn't say why. It's like she didn't deserve it. Cloud and Aerith is a much more exciting couple. To be with Tifa would be plain for Cloud even if she makes him happy.
Happy couples have no stories in Occident.

I agree with you. As much as I don't want to admit it, I may not be fond of Tifa, but I don't have it in my heart to hate her. I've had this feeling in me since I was two after my leukaemia operation that time.
Anyway, I'd prefer Cloud to be with Aerith as with her, he could be himself and loosen up. But with Tifa he's so tense and serious, like Tifa is expecting a lot from him.
Maybe the killing of Aerith was just to test the love Cloud had for her. Maybe Nomura made it look or seem like they were getting Cloud to be with Tifa, but instead, it may have been a test for Cloud to understand his feelings for her.
That's what usually happens in movies nowadays, the movies I watch atleast.

That could very well be true, kind of like the saying, you don't know what you have until it's gone. But I do believe he realized how wonderful Aeris is/was.
lol, I have a funny confession, I never even realized what large boobs Tifa had until I heard people mention it, then I looked at her picture, and was like, Oh, she does! Luckily Aeris' beauty is much more obvious, I saw her beautiful green eyes, and I was like Yeah, I like her! She's purdy!
So yeah, if it came to looks, I would vote on Aeris anyway, but Aeris' personality makes her a true heroine, and that's what the hero of the story needs.

No, the Cloti's
say that's what Nomura said. He never said that. What he actually said was this:
In a book “Final Fantasy VII Kaitai Shinsho”, Nomura was quoted, “Actually, we only had Aerith (the original Japanese name for Aeris) at the beginning, and Tifa did not exist. But on a Sunday evening, I phoned the director Mr. Kitase and suggested 'Let's kill Aerith and put in Tifa' (laughs). So now we have two heroines, and we have an event where one of them dies."He never said anything about "emphasizing Tifa". And furthermore, we've just discovered that Nomura was very unhappy about this quote in “Final Fantasy VII Kaitai Shinsho”, because it was taken out of context and misrepresented what really happened. We're discussing it right now in the thread on Interpretations here:
http://s8.invisionfree.com/Cloud_x_Aerith/...topic=278&st=15 Be sure to read Wilhelm's posts.

Aiks... I tried telling this to my brother a couple a times but still he protests in my ear nearly making me deaf. Even when he knew I was sick he tries to pick a fight as he knows he'll 'win' . <_<
Sigh, he's played the game longer than I have and knows nearly all the FFVII sites but still never/ or refused to notice that little detail. :ph43r:

Hmm.. speaking of brothers, I asked one of my bros about why CloudxAeris, and he said: "Tifa deserves Cloud but Cloud deserves Aeris; and since the story is about Cloud, so Aeris wins."
Cloud and Tifa would make a terrible pair. They both need someone that can cheer them up and treat them like an angel; not each other. On the other hand, Cloud and Aeris fit each other perfectly. It's a simple concept of yin and yang.

Sigh... I wish my brother was more like yours.
I ask him the same question and this is his answer; "Tifa loves Cloud don't deny it. Just because Cloud talks alot about Aerith in the game, doesn't mean he loves her better than Tifa. Cloud loved Tifa for a long time unlike Aerith and cares for her more. Tifa deserves Cloud more and it's too late for Aerith (I really wanted to choke him when he said this)." (I replied that in Islam, death isn't a dead end and so on, only then did he shut up for a while and said; "Whatever")
It doesn't end there. He even says that now he doesn't care about who loves who much and only wants to see Advent Children.
If you ask me, I think he's waiting for it to come out and try to prove me wrong. Ever since we were younger, he could never stand if anyone else gets the better of him or anyone is better treated then him. Sigh... :(
He doesn't open up to other people's views or respect others unless they agree with him.
Cloud and Aerith are the main characters in FFVII whether he believes it or not. No use talking to him anymore <_< .
They make such a nice couple but why do others think of death as a dead end for them to be together?  :ph43r:
My fav. aunt past away three years ago, but she still lives, in another world and my heart.

Aww, I'm sorry about your aunt, but you hit the nail on the head. Cloud feels the same way about Aeris that you feel about your aunt, that they live on in the heart. But you know, the ones we love aren't really gone, they're all around us, and we'll see them again when it's our time. Just as Cloud will have Aeris, and you'll see your aunt :)
Enima - December 4, 2004 03:45 AM (GMT)
Thanx alot , Cloudsgirl.
That really cheered me up :) :D .
Final Fantasy VII maybe a game, but rules in the real world still apply, right?
Maybe there is a secret message hidden in the game, but I'm not so sure about it fully, yet.
I'm somewhat looking for it. Like my Literature teacher said:"a fable is a satire but any place else or story which has a hidden meaning is a satire, too."
(well something like that :P )

Cool. I'm Muslim too.
And Cloud does not love Tifa. Ask him for text evidence from the game of him potraying that he did care for Tifa in a romantic way, and I'll consider it. Let me guess? The Night Under The Highwind? The Lifestream Sequence?
Aeris - December 4, 2004 03:56 PM (GMT)
Aeris was always there for Cloud when he needed her most. She didn't feed Cloud lies, and would never do anything to hurt him. In a way, she took care of him. Cloud's mom's description of the perfect girlfriend for Cloud, matches Aeris 100%. That proves that square wanted them to be together. There are also many other hints. Besides, Aeris and Cloud are perfect together.

Whoah, I didn't know that you were a Muslim, too, cool. Where are you from? I'm from Malaysia. :P :D
Sigh... tried that, but so far he says he's not interested in knowing and cares more about 'facts' and Advent Children. He still believes that Cloud and Tifa may have been dating in Advent Children, even when the facts state that Cloud had been living alone but with orphans. :(

Coincidences... I'm from Malaysia too.
Did you ask him specifically what the 'facts' are? Perhaps a biased point of view of a plot analysis from GameFAQs? Or the mistranslations of the Dismantled book? Or maybe *ohmigod!* that Cloud and Tifa's destinies will be revealed in AC?
Or maybe he knows Cloud and Aeris are the true couple but he's just being stubborn. Cloti people are like that. But, on the other hand, I guess you just have to respect him for his opinion. Maybe he just likes Tifa better.

Honestly, enima, i've read so much about your brother i wanna smack him myself.
But you shouldn't be oo bothered. See, you've been saying your brother is just stubborn about cloti. He can't back it up with solid evidences. He is the type who would just ignore all the facts presented infront of him right? So no use wasting time over him. He'll grow up one day and realise that sisters are precious jewels that should be treasured ;) Erm, oh and yeah, and never try to be stubborn with women. His future gf will show him the nasty truth about life. lmao
ok i am way off topic. *sorry*

sigh... you're right. I shouldn't get too bothered. But I just can't get over the fact that he complains too much and refuses to lose in an argument. It was ever since we were kids. He was always the one torturing me, not vice versa. I'm so sorry I brought in alot of family matters into the forum, till nearly some facts go off course. :( Please forgive me.
By the way, his first gf just broke up with him lately, saying that she needs her space and wants to deepen their friendship first.

Well, actually, he's a big fan of Yuffie, but couple wise, he prefers Cloud to be with Tifa just because Tifa loves Cloud. I do respect his opinion, but he pushes it too far like the 'see I'm right' gesture. He even has the guts to say that it's too late for Cloud to be with Aerith. <_<
But luckily, my cousin, whose younger than me, she thinks that Aerith and Cloud share a special bond, just by watching the date scene and the scene in the Forgotten City. :D She says that Cloud and Aerith's love is also like love at first sight, somewhat like me when I first played the game. :)
