Has anyone ever played of heard of the famous Phantasy Star series. Along side FF, Phantasy Star is one of my favourite RPG series.

The first Phantasy Star was released in 1987 in Japan on the Sega Master System, following a release in 1988 in both the USA and Europe. Phantasy Star was the first RPG from Japan to ever be translated into English (even though it was done poorly.

The game created 3 sequels released on the Sega Genenis/Mega Drive which was a continuous storyline but sequels taking place about a 1000 years after the previous.

Alas, the PS series has now become known as the "Online Action RPG" series. I felt let down by the online games as it left the original Phantasy Star Universe behind and completely created a brand new universe for it.

However the original series has been remade as part of the Sega Ages line. The fourth is currently being done. Anyone else a fan of Phantasy Star?

Yep ^^ my bf and I played both the dreamcast and Nintendo Game Cube versions of PSO. We're definately looking forward to the next installment of this serie :fangirl: PSU
will be quite interesting because I heard they've implemented a lot of character customization. This is what I've always liked about the PSO series as oppose to other mmo like FFXI.

You should try to play the original series, that was proper old skool RPGing! ^_^
