That pretty much confirms that the ribbon is in memory of Aerith. Unless you can think of another person to whom the colour pink is commonly associated. ^^

When Cid was introduced as a character in AC, Nomura was asked in an interview what the ribbons on Cid and Tifa's arms represented. Nomura specifically said that they were wearing the ribbons in remembrance of Aerith.

Talking about ribbons on cloud's left arm.

Did anyone noticed that when Cloud and Aerith are in the flower scene for the first time, she touched that arm!!!!

The same arm with the ribbon and Geostigma!!!

I was wondering why they didn't include the ribbons in DoC. (Except for Cloud's which still might be under that sleeve of his. :P)

Thats a good question pinaycutie, I have yet to play DOC so maybe I have no business speculating but I had heard about there being no ribbons so here is what I think...

Maybe because it is another year after AC and three years removed from the events in FFVII they are trying to move on away from the pain Sephiroth caused and step away from the past because there are new evils to fight. I do not think it is to show them forgetting Aeris or her sacrifice, just that they honor her in a different way by continuing to fight for the planet, it's people, and for each other. Just my theory.

That being said I think it would be nice if Cloud still wore it since he was closest to her and it could be seen as symbolic of her conscious/soul inside of him. I would really like that but I don't think it is necessary for there still to show :cleris:

I was just speaking to somebody about this the other day. He was saying that they don't wear the ribbons so there for they have forgotten Aerith, I totally disagree with that. They may be trying to move foward, but I don't think they will ever forget Aerith even if they took the pink ribbons off. Like it was already pointed out, nobody really knows if Cloud doesn't wear his pink ribbon anymore.

No, they definetly haven't forgotten her at all. Like previously mentioned, they're probably just trying to move on from the past, but Aerith's sacrifice is eternal. And Cloud probably still wears it, you just can't see it. But since Aerith is the closest to his heart, he probably still wears it.

I really doubt that SE was trying to say anything by not including the pink ribbons in DOC. The fact is that Aerith doesn't play a part in that game. The characters didn't start wearing the ribbons until AC, so I always looked at them as a symbol of sweet sentiments the characters had for Aerith that the movie creators decided to throw in as a cherry on the sundae that was AC. The ribbons were never discussed or mentioned once throughout the entire compilation and are therefore unessential to include in DOC. It was probably a bit of programming the creators decided to skip over. Tifa wasn't wearing the ribbon in KH II either. IMO, the lack of ribbons in DOC means nothing that isn't negligible in its importance.

is that the reason why SE drawn the sleeve back to Cloud's arm? :P I'm sorry, but it gives me conclusions that SE purposely did that. If the other characters weren't wearing it, so why does Cloud's arm again has the weird sleeve? But, nonetheless, i doubt he doesn't wear it. Though, it is really weird for them to put the sleeve back, or maybe they just thought Cloud would look much more *ahem*cuter*ahem* with it. Even if the ribbons aren't presented anymore, it's not necessary to never forget Aerith (let's see...she did such a big sacrifice for the planet)
But that's not really a big matter, and i wouldn't mind, DoC is Vincent Valentine's game, his spotlight! ^^; forgive me.

Why should Aerith fans have to worry about the ribbons? They were "in memory" of Aerith...who Cloud and the others believed had been taken away through death. However, SE already showed us that she hasn't been taken away and is still with them. I don't think it even matters that the ribbons are gone, IF they indeed ARE all gone. Has anyone ever thought about it that way? Maybe it's just me... :P
