Title: Owa New Lyrics

Kuki Prower - September 30, 2005 12:29 PM (GMT)
I was wondering if anyone had a translation for the new lyrics that Uematsu added to One Winged Angel as it appears in AC?

Lynn - September 30, 2005 12:36 PM (GMT)
Courtesy of Suzaku from ACF:

QUOTE (Advent: One-Winged Angel (Latin))
Noli manere, manare in memoria. (x2)

Sephiroth, Sephiroth.

Saevam iram, iram et dolorem. (x2)

Sephiroth, Sephiroth.

Ferum terribile, ferum fatum.

Noli manare, manere in memoria. (x2)

Sephiroth, Sephiroth.

Veni, mi fili. Veni, mi fili.
Hic veni, da mihi mortem iterum.
Veni, mi fili. Veni, mi fili.
Hic veni, da mihi...

Noli manere in memoria.
Saevam iram et dolorem.
Ferum terribile fatum.
Ille iterum veniet.

Mi fili, veni, veni, veni, mi fili. (x4)

Mi fili, veni, veni, veni, mi fili.
(Qui mortem invitavis,)
Mi fili, veni, veni, veni, mi fili.
(Poena funesta natus,)
Mi fili, veni, veni, veni, mi fili.
(Noli nomen vocare.)
Mi fili, veni, veni, veni, mi fili.
(Ille iterum veniet.)

Sephiroth, Sephiroth.

Sephiroth.

And he also translated the lyrics, although he's already warned that there might be errors:

QUOTE (Advent: One-Winged Angel (English))
Won't remain, remain in memory. (x2)

Sephiroth, Sephiroth.

Raging anger, anger and misery. (x2)

Sephiroth, Sephiroth.

Fierce terror, fierce fate.

Won't remain, remain in memory. (x2)

Sephiroth, Sephiroth.

Come, my son. Come, my son.
Come here, give me death once more.
Come, my son. Come, my son.
Come here, give me...

Won't remain in memory.
Raging anger and misery.
Fierce, terrible fate.
The second advent.

My son, come, come, come, my son. (x4)

My son, come, come, come, my son.
(By death's invitation,)
My son, come, come, come, my son.
(Painful tainted birth,)
My son, come, come, come, my son.
(Won't call the name.)
My son, come, come, come, my son.
(The second advent.)

Sephiroth, Sephiroth.

Sephiroth.

And just for the heck of it, more lyrics:

QUOTE (The Promised Land (Latin))
Cur in gremio haeremus? (x2)

Cur poenam cordi parvo damus? (x4)

Stella nobis non concessit non concessit (x4)

Stella nobis non concessit non concessit (x4)

In terram fluens
Terram fluens
Venarum pulsus in terram fluens (x2)

Parvum pulsus cormor temducens (x3)
Cormor temducens

Vita mollis in stellam redeunt (x4)

Animam sacrifare necessere est? (x4)

Cur in gremio haeremus? (x4)

Cur veniam petimus? In terra fatali? (x4)

QUOTE (The Promised Land (English))
Why are we so weak-minded, on this Earth?
Why do we struggle our heart apart, on this Earth?
The Star does not indulge on us, does not forgive.
The Star does not indulge on us, does not forgive.
What’s the strength of the empires of these lands for?
Beloved, silvery consort of Eve, do you?
The Gods of Love used to dwell in the Star.
Must we sacrifice our very soul?
Why do we wander the land, on this Earth?
Why do we float suspended in indeterminateness, on this Earth, Gods?

QUOTE (Divinity I & II (Latin))
Habitavit
Dormivit
Caelo missus rex
Poena terrae motus
Error humanus
Cujus fructus foris
Cujus verbum clavis
Calamitas excitata ab imo
Cum haustus est fremitu
Cum levatus est carmine
Fatum invitans ruina sive paradisus

Preces
Clamorque
Pauci resistentes
Sola Dea fatum novit

I'm assuming since the words for "star" and "planet" are essentially the same, it's probably referring to the Planet not wanting to forgive. ^^

Thanks for the lyrics, Lynn!! :D

Lynn - September 30, 2005 11:59 PM (GMT)
Yep, 'star' and 'planet' often refer to the same thing in Japanese.

No prob, guys! I sang along to both songs (IN LATIN :hyper: ) while reading the lyrics-- the adrenaline rush is awesome! :battlecry:

:lmao:

I think I'll try that too :P

Kuki Prower - October 6, 2005 11:07 AM (GMT)
I sang along to them to! I felt like some evil god!

I love the new lyrics a lot better than the original version. Plus the choir really do put their hearts and soul in chanting the latin.
