Title: Weird Stuff That Scared You As A Kid
Description: Strange fears
Sefie - November 15, 2004 01:16 AM (GMT)
What strange things frightened you as a child? For me, my biggest fear was this church we used to pass every night on our way home from our bakery. It had a large steeple, and stained glass windows, and it scared the CRAP outta me! I used to duck down from the window and close my eyes. I still don't know why it scared me, but it did!
Please share yours!

Thunderstorms and rain - yes, even rain - although that started after a tornado hit about a mile away from my house when I was about eight years old.
Hmmm... what else?
I remember being terrified that monsters were going to jump out of my closet and attack me while I was asleep. I had trouble getting to sleep for about a year because I was positive that big, bad monsters were going to jump out of my closet at night and attack me once all the lights were out and I fell asleep. I have no idea how I got that idea into my head.
And spiders... even pictures of them!
Marionette - November 15, 2004 07:47 AM (GMT)
I remember I was scared of that Michael Jackson song "Thriller" every time I heard it I would run in my room and lock the door.
Andina - November 15, 2004 08:28 AM (GMT)
Well of course all the usual stuff like thunderstorms, spiders and scary movies.
But one silly thing I remember clearly from on summer was this huge, black paper bag that someone had left in front of our front door. And I mean it was HUGE! And it was particulary windy that day so the bag moved and made all kinds of noices in the wind. I can't remember exactly how old I was but it scared me so much that I was too afraid to go past it into the house when I got home from school. It looked like some big monster or something! I think it was one of my sisters that finally removed it so I could go inside without being eaten by a giant, black paper bag monster.

When I went to Korea, I can recall an incident wherein I talk to these two Korean strangers. They're teenage males. And one time, they grabbed me from the street and I was knocked-out cold. When I regained consciousness again, my daddy was carrying me on his back for the tour, feeling so confused on what happened.
Years prior to that, older family members and relatives revealed to me only when I turned 19 that I talk to people "who aren't even there"... and that when my grandfather died, I still "talk" to him and see him everywhere. I can recall the talking-to-grandfather thing but not the others...
Also, I can recall going to the house across the street to play and talk to a boy named Zero.
When I asked my mom about the two guys in Korea, she told me that I wasn't with any stranger/s. I also asked her about "Zero", she said that there is no one in that house named Zero. =_='
It's so strange... but the memory seems so clear. I can still remember Zero's face and those Korean guys' faces!!! @o@' But everybody tells me they never happened!
So now I'm afraid of whether I am seeing real things or not... even when I talk to people, I get the feeling that they're not even supposed to be there!
Oh yeah, and another thing not related to seeing dead people...
I am afraid of lesbians and tomboys because I was bullied by those type of people when I was younger. =_=' feh. <_<

Tifa, your post sends creeps up me skin.....
Childhood fear no.1 = A small corner of the living room of my old house. *is scared* I remembered seeing things on it.....argh.. am still scared at the thoughts
Buhon - November 18, 2004 10:04 AM (GMT)
Department store manequins. They utterly terrified me as a small child, especially those headless-limbless torsos you see modeling underwear and whatnot. I had all sorts of vivid nightmares about those things coming to get me. They don't necessarily get to me anymore, although I will catch myself checking over my shoulder now and then in the clothing section of department stores.
Aeris - November 24, 2004 09:54 PM (GMT)
Clowns, jack-in-the-boxes, anything with an evil/happy face.
Enima - December 1, 2004 12:14 PM (GMT)
What scared me most was being alone, nightmares, my own reflection (not anymore though :P ), injections at clinics or the hospitals etc...
These mostly scared me because , well about what happened to me when I was younger. I had to be hospitalised when I was 2 years old for having leukaemia, but I'm ok now.
Most of my fears are controlled now, (glad that they are actually :D ) but i just hope they don't come back to haunt me.
Aprillis - December 3, 2004 08:03 AM (GMT)
When I was small, I thought that everyone in the world were aliens in disguise and whenever I turn my back or was not looking, they would take off their masks and reveal an ugly green face.
It got so bad that I didn't even trust my parents and family any more. I really believed that I was the only one in the world that was 'truly human'.
It faded away by the time I was 9, but I can still recall the strange feeling back then.
Coral - December 5, 2004 09:14 PM (GMT)
Chucky! the serial-killer-doll!
sooo afraid that my dolls would kill me in the night !!! lol
(I still don't like it at all)
and clowns too.

My biggest fear was, and still is, to be alone. To feel alone. Even when lots of people are around. Silly, isn´t it?

Hey, I don't think it's silly as I still feel that way sometimes, too. Especially if I'm left alone either in a shopping complex or open house where I don't know anyone :P.

Glad I´m not the only one. I was almost feeling ashame.

There are very few things in this world that one should be ashamed of, and your fear is not one of them, sweetie. :)

Hmm... for me, I remember whenever I went to sleep, my parents would kiss me goodnight and then turn off the lights. One night, I remember trying to go to sleep amd then I looked up. Darn those stupid dolls... they are so creeepy whenever the moonlight shines on them! *shudder*
I also remember that my elder sister was talking to me quietly. I was looking up (note: before dolly incident...) and someway or another, a tile directly above me shifted. Replacing the tile was a pair of yellow eyes. Someway or another, my sister was still talking quietly but I remember going to sleep.
I'm so full of fears!!! I remember going to a camping trip with my old class. During the nighttime, I felt an awful pain in my abdomen. I remember my friends standing over me, concerned. Well, I fell asleep eventually but then I woke up during the night. Some several meters away from our tent, there was this white figure walking towards a tree. I think I fainted...
*shudder*

*Shudder* That last one's just plain freaky!
Paksenarrion - December 8, 2004 07:47 PM (GMT)
that is really freaky!
I used to watch a lot of Alien shows when I was younger, so I wlays thought aliens were standing over my bed staring at me.
*cries*

I know... me ish now scared of going camping!!! *hides underneath covers*
Now, my greatest fear is my imagination. Blame me watching a horror movie with my friends, then a round of scary stories afterwards. <_< *hisses angrily* Whenever I'm alone now, I think that there's this monster hiding under my bed... or in my closet... or prowling outside my window!!! *screams hysterically*
>.< Oooof! There I go again!!!
Emo_Cloud - December 9, 2004 03:41 PM (GMT)
Aliens....
.....and
EVIL SPIRITS.
<_<
Pucca_Girl_VII - December 9, 2004 05:45 PM (GMT)
I'm scared of Dead Spiders, I'm fine with them when they're alive but when they're dead...*shudder* I actually really like them when alive, but they go all hard and crunchy when they're dead and I hate the way their legs go.
I also have afear of eyes watching me, that's why I have practically no posters in my room(apart from a printout of AC Cloud and Neji from Naruto  )
SweetJanie - December 9, 2004 08:11 PM (GMT)
Well, my big last fear was when I read Tifa_Lockheart's story *shudders*
I kept thinking I was being followed and when I went to bed I thought Cloud was behind the..the...aargh!! Forgot the word!! That thing you put over your windows!!! And that Sora was under my bed, and when I laid down on it I felt something touching my hair, like Aeris hand!!! I really thought I was gonna die that night!!! :( :ph43r:

*cocks brow slowly*
SJ, did your account get hacked?
Bloodbath - December 10, 2004 10:05 AM (GMT)
  SJ, that seems... woah. I think I would have taken Cloud hostage though. :D Let's see S-E do the movie without him!!! MWAHAHAHA!

I suggest that you take a little break from all things related to Final Fantasy. ^_^
Although I would be more than happy if Cloud and Aerith would be in my bedroom.

*mumbles incomprehensibly* :ph43r:

Ghosts always scare me... The real ones....
*looks around*
.....I see dead people.....
Mira - December 28, 2004 02:35 AM (GMT)
As a child I've always been afraid of my father. I've had nightmares about him and I didn't want to talk to him much. Even now I still don't and the only thing I know about him is is name. It's not that I hate him (...much), but because he had such a big temper. I still remember the harsh punishments and words that he said, especially when he gets drunk. But I really can't bring myself to hate him.
Bloodbath - December 29, 2004 01:06 AM (GMT)
*pats Mira* Awww... It's okay Mira. That's all in the past, is it not?
Lady Anime - January 9, 2005 05:24 PM (GMT)
I um use to be afraid of Halloween Decorations when I was a kid.
Also I use to be afraid of this monster from a movie called Dogma or something like that. I was going downstairs one time. I didn't know that my family was watching movie on TV and then saw I the monster in the movie and it was saying a line. Half way through the creature's line, I screamed and scrambled up the stairs. My family still won't let that down. They always remind me when they get the chance. <_<

Dogma? I watched that movie! It was hilarious. ^_^ Then again, I was older when I watched it, and you were probably only five years old or something... ::pats LA's shoulder:: :huggle:
Wait... do you mean that weird, nasty monster from the toilet?
Tifa Lockheart - July 17, 2005 08:33 AM (GMT)
I've always had this strange habit of staring up at the ceilings as a child. I don't know why I stare at ceilings, especially if they're really very high and you can't see what's there anymore because it appears so dim/dark already from below. It scared me. But I still love staring at those high ceilings... even when creepy feelings take over me. <_<'
Sefie - July 18, 2005 02:06 AM (GMT)
I've adopted a new strange fear. Turkies. They give me the jibblies
Rikkulicious - July 18, 2005 02:30 AM (GMT)
Spiders, I used to have awful dreams of them. ~shivers~ That and lightning (adds onto meh Rikkuness, eh? ^_^), I used to be sooooo scared. ~twitch~
Tifa Lockheart - July 18, 2005 11:35 AM (GMT)
Hahah. Sefie, you remind me of one of my friends named Rachel. But she's different. All ground birds scare her. Not just the turkeys... but also the chickens and the ducks... even geese. Once we had an exposure trip in a farm in one of the provinces and a Chinese chicken approached us, she literally hid behind my back. And to think she's way taller than me (she's 5'7" and I'm only 5'2" back then). And she wouldn't stop crying, telling me to get rid of the chicken. O_o'
I'll only fear turkeys if they chase me. I don't know why they have this bad habit of chasing people and they're really very noisy with their loud "gobble gobble gobble" thing. *shudder*
Bloodbath - July 20, 2005 10:01 AM (GMT)
Truthfully, I've never seen a turkey in the flesh! :lmao: Oh... wait... in the feathers. ^_^ Which one? I don't like the sound of chickens... they're... stupid. >_<
I understand what you mean about the ceiling thing, Tifa L. When I was a kid too, I kept staring up at the ceiling out of habit. I swear, my imagination can go crazy at times...
Sefie - July 20, 2005 04:07 PM (GMT)
My nephew, Jake, always stares straight up at the ceiling whenever I hold him. I think he's trying to ignore the fact that I'm touching him(doesn't work very long though, he always starts crying within a few minutes)
I'm also afraid of the space between my bed and the wall, but that's from The Grudge
