Title: First Version Of Ac
Description: Starred only Cloud and Tifa

Anastar - November 14, 2004 09:16 PM (GMT)
A new argument that the Cloti's like to use now is that the original 20 minute version of AC starred only Cloud and Tifa. The Cloti's like to believe this "proves" that Cloud and Tifa will get together at the end of AC. Here are the two articles where this original 20 minute version was mentioned:

--------------
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/finalfantas...ws_6076646.html
DPM (Dengeki Playstation Magazine): Why was a movie sequel to Final Fantasy VII decided for development, and when was it decided?
Nomura: About a year back, Visual Works (a company that has developed CG movies for Square) picked FFVII as the theme for a presentation that they were going to create. Our research and development department worked with them on its launch, and I joined the crew after producer Kitase-san called me. It's going to be released as a sequel, but it was planned to just be a visual presentation in the beginning.

- [Nomura] Before AC was decided on, they had wanted to make a visual works. They had a plot for AC, but at that time it was still pending. It ran for approx. 20 minutes and starred no one but Cloud and Tifa. Nojima made it into a story with some volume.

--------------
If you study these two articles carefully, you will see that Visual Works was the company that came up with the idea for the 20 minute presentation starring Cloud and Tifa, not Square. Visual Works was the company that presented the idea to Square. Square then sent in their research and development team to work on the story, and eventually Nojima was called in to work on it. Kitase joined the team later, and Nomura was called in to work on it last. It says that "Nojima made it into a story with some volume" meaning that Nojima (for Square) made changes to the original story proposed by Visual Works. When Nomura came in, he also made changes, as he states in this interview:

http://www.kingdomhearts2.net/news2/headlines/88228694.shtml
GMR: Speaking of Advent Children, is this story you own idea, or did you collaborate with FFVII’s scriptwriter and director to continue the story?
Tetsuya Nomura: The planning of Advent Children had begun even before I took the role as director. As soon as I joined the project, I made some changes to the script and added some new elements. I am still, at this time, adding to and rewriting the script.

So Nomura made even more changes to the script after he got involved. Since Nojima and Nomura have both made changes to the script proposed by Visual Works, the original 20 minute presentation has no bearing on what the final version of AC will be like.

Another thing is that just because Cloud and Tifa were the only characters in the original story, that does not automatically mean that they will get together in AC. The original story could easily have been about why Cloud and Tifa did not get together, for example. It may have been about Cloud and Tifa paying their last respects to Aerith. It may have been Cloud and Tifa trying to find the Promised Land, since Tifa agreed to go with Cloud to find Aerith in the final FMV. It may also have been a story about Cloud dying, and Tifa realizing that Cloud had finally found Aerith once he died.

Anyone who thinks that Cloud and Tifa as the main characters of a story means they will definitely get together should go read this VERY CloudxAerith fanfic by Tifa Lockheart, where Cloud and Tifa are the main characters of the story: Love and the Perfection of it in its Imperfection (I loved that fanfic, Tifa L! :D)

Yay! Thanks Aly! I've been wondering about that. A CloTi mentioned it, and I didn't know if they were right or not. This clears up alot for me!

Yeah, I saw that before. But I thought Square chose Cloud and Tifa. But nope! Thanks for the info! ^_^

it simply said "starred no one but cloud and tifa", cloTi fans are so delusional that the first thing they thought was that "theyre getting together". nomura didnt say nething about what happend in that presentation.

Yea..moreover, it was clearly stated that the first version of AC was meant to be a "visual presentation" i.e. Visual works just wants to show the world how talented they are in making CGs, right? lol

I don't think there'll be much story attached to it.

Then wouldn't the first version of FFVII without Tifa (of which not much is know except it starred Cloud, Aerith and Sephiroth and possibly Barret and had a similar 'chase Sephiroth' story) mean something, if the first version of AC (of which not much is known except it started Tifa and Cloud and lasted around 20 minutes) does?

Good point, Wilhelm! :D

And actually, I think the original version of FFVII would have even more relevance, since it was produced by Square. The plot of the original AC wasn't written by Square, but by Visual Works. Once Square got involved in it, they changed the plot. So I can't see that the original 20 minute version of AC had much significance at all.

Have to agree. :P :D
I don't really understand why Cloti are using this as so-called evidence to prove that Cloud and Tifa are the stars of AC and they ended up together in AC. How does it prove anything from some trailers?
That make so much sense, Anastar. :D
If only many Cloti can figure that out for themselves instead of boasting how the movie is all CLOTI. I think the movie can turn either way, but I don't want to boast nor stoop down to their level until after the movie comes out to confirm my questions.

It's probably just like a silent movie or a movie wherein they're just seated facing each other on a table and doing nothing, staring into empty space. What a waste of film... <_<

LMAO!! Good one, Tifa.

I think I'll start a topic in the Venting section about the original 20 minute version of AC. Then we can imagine what this version was like.

Staring into each other's eyes can be very romantic/erotic, but staring into empty space?
