The "umpire's day" mentioned in the machine translation could mean the final battle between AVALANCHE, the SHM and Sephiroth in AC.

It's a mistake. This story is only in the Ultimania Omega. Tifa's story in the Prologue is the second half of On a Way to a Smile.

Didn't Zack only die a few weeks before FFVII at most? I thought it went 5 years ago captures > 5 years later escape, Zack dead and Cloud crazy, followed by Tifa finding him at the train station then the whole game business.

You're right, it's around five years in the tube, then a few weeks (at most) wandering around with Zack before reaching Midgar. It'd be hard to imagine zoned-out Cloud escaping five years prior to FFVII, and still being as zoned-out when Tifa finds him in Midgar.
