Title: Dvd Regions Help!
Description: I need le help.. ;;__;;
yin-chan - September 13, 2005 04:38 PM (GMT)
Urm...I really want to buy my copy of the Japanese version of AC, as well as the English version when it does come out... (yes, me want buy both :P )
The Japanese version is Region 2...
The english version will probably be Region 4 for me (australia) so that's not too much of a problem...I hope... :sad:
But...since I'm from Southeast Asia, my DVD region is Region 3....so I don't think I'll be able to play the Region 2 DVDs....my PS2 however, is NTSC-J and has been modded before, does anyone know if it can play Region 2 DVDs? :unsure:
Help! I want my legitimate copy of advent children so bad... :sad:

If you're DVD Player is multi-regional, you should be able to change the region with your DVD remote. The manual you got with your DVD player should tell you how to do this.
I assume that NTSC-J is in the terms of a Japan like Playstation and Japan's region code is 2 so I'm sure it will play region 2 if its that. Hope that helped!

Well, my DVD player isn't multi-regional.... ;;____;;
I'm still not sure about the PS2 either....do you know where I can get any info on that? ;;__;;

Most PS2 mods allow multiple-regional DVDs, so it's usually not a problem. Can't tell exactly which ones does, but you would have to try for yourself, or get information on the mod you have on your PS2.

Sorry to bring a possibly er older topic to life but...there is a disc you can buy for the PS2 that lets you play any region DVD, no mod chip or anything required
:ph43r:

Gaaahh.....I just got my Advent Children in the mail, and it turns out I can't play it. (Dang region restrictions)
I was surprised because my PS2 is modded and is NTSC-J, so it should be no problem, but nope, it can't play. I can't play it on my PC either.
Does anyone know if there's some sort of program that lets you play region-free on a PC or sumathinga? :sad:

You could try checking
this forum and
this forum for help on that. They seem more slanted towards codecs/burning, but if you do a search you may come up a lucky. Or post a question in the appropriate place and someone will probably know what you're looking for.
Good luck with it, yin-chan! Hope you get to watch the DVD!

I was having loads of trouble with codecs and conversion from AVIs to DVDs before. Spent loads of time looking sites up on Google that offered good, free software and FAQs... and those were the ones that helped. :lol:
I'm sorry it doesn't seem to work for you, yin-chan. :( :hug: Maybe you could take the DVD to a store and ask the people there? It's not illegal to make modifications to your player to watch Japanese DVDs, is it?
yin-chan - September 30, 2005 04:28 AM (GMT)
THanks again for the help, Lynn! :huggle:
I'm not sure if it's illegal.... :unsure: but my brother doesn't want me tampering with his precious dvd player. :sad:
Oh well, thanks so much again! :lol: I really appreciate it!

If you want to permanently change the region, I don't think you'll have any law troubles, but modding it to play more than one region could mean trouble. Not that people are actually caught for this, anyway. A "Region X" cd could quickly solve this problem. At least, that's what is called here... (and NO! I'm not telling where I am from XD).
