Title: Drinking
Kusari Yarou - September 13, 2005 11:39 AM (GMT)
Self explanatory. How do you guys view drinking alcohol?
Toxo - September 13, 2005 11:47 AM (GMT)
Well...I myself don't drink at all, but I have many classmates that drink often. They've said that they started it when they were about 10-13. My sister drinks too. :(
Granleon - September 13, 2005 12:24 PM (GMT)
Personally, I don't like the idea of alcohol. When people lose their inhibitions, very bad things happen. (Heck, bad things happen even when people have inhibitions...)
The attraction of alcohol seems to be due to the following ideas:
1) People have less fun when they are sober.
2) People don't have to think about problems while they are drinking.
The first idea is probably crap. Those who drink excessively probably are unable to recall what happened during their binge. Those who drink lightly probably are treating alcohol as a normal drink rather than some fun-enhancing drink (perhaps to fit in with friends?) and are not affected so much.
The second idea is somewhat understandable when someone is under tremendous stress, but ultimately, the problem never disappears (and is sometimes exacerbated due to delaying...).
Mrs.Loz - September 13, 2005 08:34 PM (GMT)
I cant even drink a small glass of wine.
I dont like alchohol, but drunken in a reasonable way by people, it doesnt bother me.
I just do not like people who spend shitloads on getting pissed, when it is really only doing nothing but damaging their personality and health.
lenne - September 13, 2005 11:15 PM (GMT)
Well I dont drink(duh)
but the rest of my family drinks except my mom and my sister....but the rest do
anyways sometimes it gets annoying...
last time it got crazy with my other cousin
He started to strip!! out side everyone was laughing!!
and my brother well...he just laughs when he drinks and I think its really funny when he drinks  :woot:  but then he will just go to bed later on...
soo...like....yeah... :ermm:
Nevi - September 14, 2005 02:36 AM (GMT)
I'm not really fond of alcohol. I think it's good for sickness, and cuts alone! lol
But seriously, I would never do it but I don't look down on people for doing it.
Carmencita - September 14, 2005 02:38 PM (GMT)
I don't drink since I'm not very good at handling alcohol. (first can of beer I ever drank got me tipsy. But it may be because I didn't eat anything at all before that. Haha!) Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it as long as you don't get addicted to it.
In my opinion, you just have to know how to drink and to limit yourself with what you can handle. It's handy when you need to deal with several important people in your social circles. There's such a thing as responsible drinking, right?
FinalFantasyPrincess - September 14, 2005 03:59 PM (GMT)
I recently started drinking.
Just when I go out with my friends.
Sometimes drinking annoys me because it makes my friends hyper and giddy and... well stupid. I just like my drink because of how it tastes.
Sorry.. I hate beer.. ick.
But people who drink irresponsibly annoys me. -yawns- And I hate getting 4am phone calls on Sunday nights from a friend who's drunk and wants to share it with the world.
-_-;; ah well... I hold nothing against people who drink responsibly.
Tacofoolio - September 14, 2005 04:10 PM (GMT)
I myself do not drink, even though I've had a lot of opportunity to. My dad's an alcoholic, and I think my mom is, if not, she definately isn't a responsible drinker. I've seen the negative side of it, and it tore my family apart.
I don't support drunkeness, but I can't judge those who do, I can understand why, but it's terrible how it can suck people into having a life that's built around it. My husband is fortunately a responsible drinker, but I can't say I am happy with the fact he sometimes gets carried away if he's with his cousins and friends.
I wont allow myself to be a drinker, it's in my genes to be an alcoholic, so I wont take the risk. I always turned down drinks, and the most I'll have is a sip or two of wine, when it's for a toast or something. I don't mind wine, as long as it's not for getting drunk or tipsy.
I don't like how alcohol changes a person, it makes me feel like it's not even them I'm talking to.

I've had several drunk people want to share their problems with me. On my thirteenth birthday we went out to eat and a poor drunk guy had just turned 21 that same day, and he wanted to share his problems with me because we shared the same Birthday. You can imagine how a child who just turning into a teenager would feel having this creep spilling his problems to her. lol
FinalFantasyPrincess - September 17, 2005 05:30 AM (GMT)
Exactly. Sorry about that drunk guy on your birthday. Talk about a way to ruin your birthday.
Nice avie and sig though. ^_^ Aeris = Beautiful ^_^
Plus I personally wouldn't want people to drink just because they want to have fun. I have fun with my friends without drinking..
Just shopping xD
Yukari - September 17, 2005 04:28 PM (GMT)
When drinking gets out of control and a person can't face the day without it, then it's dangerous. When people spend about £100 on a night out getting drunk, I don't get it. However, I do drink myself. I love the taste of Bacardi and Coke, Baileys, champagne, cherry wine, Cosmopolitan, Margarita... But of course, I don't down them one after the other. It's all about knowing when to stop, and not mixing your drinks. Having a drink is sometimes a social thing, but most of the time with me it's because I want one. And one is fine.
Having more than one or two or going all out and doing shots is fun for a couple of hours, but when you can hardly stand up and can't see straight it's suddenly not so fun anymore. I learned that the hard way, after doing shots of vodka, tequila and sambuca one after the other and me and my friend ending up in the bus station crying, me for my mother, (*cringe*) then getting taken to the police station because I'd fallen over and ripped my clothes and this, along with the fact that I was crying, made the policewoman think I'd been attacked. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was so damned embarrassed at myself.
Also, emotions that you've kept a tight lid on come spilling out after a couple of drinks. This can be good because you've found a release, but bad depending on what those emotions are and who now knows your true feelings.

I never tried a Cosmo or a Margarita.
 Okay so I'm going out tonight! :P
But I do agree with you. You have to know when it's enough.... if you get like this: :puke: No more for you!
Nevi - September 17, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
I like the taste of a margarita and pina colada, but no alcohol for me!
I don't wanna look like this :puke:
i pRomiSe** - September 17, 2005 11:01 PM (GMT)
I myself don't drink. Because I'm too young... But I got a friend who drank and she's 14... And I think she still does... D:
My brother and my sister drink. But they know when to stop. And they only drank like everyday ( :rolleyes: I'm overexaggerating. They didn't drink everyday.) when my brother came back because he wasn't going to be able to do that for another 6 months... I actually kinda think it's funny when my brother gets drunk... ^_^; He does nothing but laugh crazily. My sister doesn't drink that much. But when I see her drink, she usually drinks mudslides...o_O;
So, as long as the person knows when to stop drinking, I don't really care if they drink or not. I don't want to see anybody get hurt. D:
Sephiroth's_girl - September 17, 2005 11:49 PM (GMT)
I myself don't. But, I don't mind if others around me do, as long as their of age.
Kaldea - September 18, 2005 12:25 AM (GMT)
I've never been drunk since I know my limits but I have my favorite kinds. ^_^
Nevi - September 18, 2005 01:23 AM (GMT)
I hate it when young people drink even though it may be against the law. It's becoming more and more common these days!
i pRomiSe** - September 18, 2005 02:29 PM (GMT)
I know. I remember going to the mall on a Friday night (I hate going to the mall on Friday nights) and there were a whole bunch of young people getting high and drinking and crap... I was like 'Eeeee! Get me out of here! I don't want to be surrounded by these people!!' That's one reason I hate going to the malls on Friday nights. I also hate it because the malls are all crowded. XD
Mrs.Loz - September 18, 2005 03:10 PM (GMT)
I cant even manage a glass of wine, let alone half of it...
yin-chan - September 18, 2005 03:18 PM (GMT)
I've never drunk a drop of alchohol in my life. (even though I am of legal age) I just never felt the urge to try it. I don't think it smells good, anyway, that turns me off.
Edit : woot! 900 posts!
Nevi - September 20, 2005 02:06 AM (GMT)
Good for you, yin-chan! Keep the faith! *holds up sign* We don't need to get drunk to have fun! Just give us FF7 and some potato chips!
Seii Monogatari - September 20, 2005 07:05 AM (GMT)
I have a rather negative view towards alchohol. In addition to making people act kinda stupid & endangering others, I watched 10 people who went on a road trip with me last summer live off of microwavable burritos for the last two weeks of a three-week trip because they blew twenty bucks on alchohol at each gas station we visited. I like my hobbies, and I wont be able to afford my art stuff if I'm wasting 10 bucks on a case of beer that will last me a couple hours. I think there's better things that can be done with the money.
I've also seen my cousins with hangovers, and I NEVER ever want one. I've had alchohol, but I never want to get drunk or lose control. I don't want to look back on my actions and ask myself, "What was I thinking, why did I do that?"
I kinda like Hennessy Cognac though, but I didn't have too much and it was on a camping trip with family! >_<
Inuyatta - September 20, 2005 08:38 AM (GMT)
I personally can't stand alcohol, as I mistook a glass of beer to be a glass of water when I was 3.
That right then and there sealed that I would never drink alcohol. XD
Plus, my dad was kind of an addict to everything, so yeah... :P
Bloodbath - September 20, 2005 10:03 AM (GMT)
Anti-Alcohol. Quite simply put. :P
I've never really thought about drinking alcohol, mainly because I keep thinking of the stuff that cleans your wounds, and because I'm paranoid of anything against my health. :ph43r: Drinking is not necessarily dangerous if your drink a little, but still. PARANOIA. ^_^
And I understand some people drink to release the pain, but a part of me keeps asking, "Why release the pain for a few hours - getting drunk - only to have it come back worse than ever?" (Morning sickness.)
Nephilim - September 20, 2005 12:21 PM (GMT)
Personally, I drink.
I have no problem with others drinking, or even people who are underaged doing it (to some extent; I'm talking 16 here, not 3x)), but it's something people have to be very careful with. For instance, only drinking around people they know well and trust, because we all know how people get when they're drunk, and not abusing it.
And yes, beer tastes disgusting.
Nevi - September 21, 2005 04:12 AM (GMT)
I hate the way Beer smells. But when I write, there is no shortage of ale, brandy and wine!
The dwarves love 'em!

Kusari Yarou - September 22, 2005 11:04 AM (GMT)
I do drink. My friends and I find it relaxing, a way to unwind after exams and when the semester ends. And we drink every time someone has a birthday.
I agree with Nephilim, that there is such a thing as responsible drinking and you should drink only with people you know and trust. It is when you drink too much that it becomes a problem
Also, call me crazy, but beer smells and tastes fine to me.

Kusari, j00 crazee! Just joking. I'm not much for beer myself. Beer, lager, any 'lad' drink, I don't much like. I stick to my girly cocktails. I second the agreement with Nephillim. Getting drunk with people you don't know is a really dangerous thing to do, I think. I was lucky that I was with my friends when I got into the state I talked about in my last post.
To further explain that, cause I know some people will read that and think I'm an irresponsible idiot, I was trying to get over something that had happened to my brother, and to me. I wouldn't say that drinking solved it, but it did make me let everything out. I'd been keeping my feelings about the situation to myself because I didn't want to upset my brother. 'Tis why I started crying. I'd have preferred to have let my grief out somewhere more private though.
Alexia - September 22, 2005 08:30 PM (GMT)
I used to drink... but I never even got typsy...i dont want to end up in the state my friends can get into, to the point where they cant walk.... to me that is just stupidness...
I used to only drink in the house with my family, and then only a glass or two... no more, and beer tastes nice with lemonade...
I stopped drinking because my Boyfriend didn't like it, so I stopped for him ^_^
Nevi - September 23, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
Beer and lemonade? Sounds interesting...
Bloodbath - September 24, 2005 02:30 PM (GMT)
 I agree, sounds interesting. Uh... a tangy mix? I wouldn't know really, I haven't drunk anything with a drop of alcohol. My father drinks only a few times though, and a part of me also thinks it smells funny. >_<
Alexia - September 24, 2005 02:49 PM (GMT)
Hm... its more of a... zangy tast... i really cant think of a way to descirbe itmuch.... it takes the taste of beer a bit away though ^_^
Carmencita - September 25, 2005 12:16 PM (GMT)
Interesting. :D Beer taste sucks.
Just this Friday, I drank another time. But it was just one cup. I sort of got cautious when I saw the people all around me all tipsy and singing bad early-90's songs on the Karaoke.
Bloodbath - September 25, 2005 01:54 PM (GMT)
Ouch. >_< Which is another reason I don't want to drink. Even if it's just getting tipsy, I would be afraid of doing stupid things. Early 90's... I wonder... is "Yellow Submarine" included in that? :lmao:
::cough:: Back to the topic... lemonade and beer. Zangy and tangy - I SEE NO DIFFERENCE! :lmao: You're still consuming a lesser amount of alcohol. ^_^
Nevi - September 25, 2005 08:43 PM (GMT)
I've personally never drank in my life, that's because I've no desire to.

Beer and Lemonade?
Weird..
I'm a beer-hater. It's nasty, it smells nasty, it tastes nasty.
NASTY!
Ewww to beer!
Inuyatta - September 27, 2005 07:31 AM (GMT)
Rofl, we went from giving opinions to exchaging recipes and ideas! I love this board. XD :fangirl:
Nevi - September 28, 2005 01:01 AM (GMT)
:lmao:
*cough* Uh... back on topic. It bothers me a lot when my parents drink, I don't know why but it does. But when others drink it's fine with me!
Inuyatta - September 28, 2005 01:45 AM (GMT)
I understand that. @_@
I don't really mind when my friends drink, just as long as I can make sure they don't try driving or doing something else dangerous. I personally don't like to be around people when they are completely piss-faced, but I will come in to check on them after they all pass out. ^^
