A member of the AC.net forums sent an email to SE asking about the NA release date, a possible remake of FFVII, and whether the Limited Edition would be available in North America. SE's response can be found here:

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Customer Support,
No information has been announced in regards to a possible collectors or limited edition for the North American release of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children at this time. Yes there is one for the Japanese release, but nothing has been said officially that there will be one or something similar here in North America. There also is no information on any special features, language options or extras announced at this time.
Updated information in regards to Final Fantasy VII Advent Children will be discussed and available on an upcoming issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly. Please stay tuned for those official details.
Unfortunately at this time Final Fantasy VII will not be remade for any current or next generation platform/console. This is not to say that it will never happen, it's just that SQUARE ENIX of Japan is currently focusing on numerous other projects. I knew we wouldn't ge a remake any time soon, I think I remembered Kitase saying something about it taking five or more years to produce a FFVII remake, and that it wasn't even on the table yet. -_-
