Could someone help me find a Japanese decoder?

You mean like a translator but it runs through a program or website?

Online translators do a very poor job of translating Japanese. Online translations often come out completely different from translations done by a human translator.

But online translators can be found here: http://babelfish.altavista.com/ and here: http://www.systransoft.com/index.html

Systran is a wee bit better than Babelfish, imo... but not by much.

I don't know if he/she means a translator, but I'll take this thread opportunity to ask it...

I can't see japanese letters, unless they're a picture. Instead, random symbols appear in its place... Can someone help me out? Don't know if it helps, but my browser isn't Internet Explorer, but Mozilla Firefox. :ermm:

I only see random letters and symbols, too. There's a setting on Mozilla Firefox if you go to Tools -> Options -> General. Click on the option under Languages, and you can select Japanese. It still shows up as random letters and symbols even after you do that, though.

I'm told that you have to download the Japanese characters. They're supposedly available on the Microsoft website for download, but I've never found them. I can't read Japanese, anyway, so I don't see any real need for them.

Yeah, but if you wanna know, you gotta see them!! ^^'

Thanks, Aly-chan, really!! <3 *hugs*

You want an encoder or a decoder? If you just want all the characters to show, chances are that your browser is just configured in the wrong way. In IE, just go to View >> Encoding. Then, choose "Japanese" (if there's more than one option, try all of them). This would solve the problem.

If you don't have a ASCII Japanese font, as soon you click on the Japanese, IE will request to download it. Just accept. On Firefox, Anastar explained pretty well. If it doesn't show up, you may really need to download the fonts.

If you want to really write in Japanese, download this program from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

It comes with the fonts and everything you need to write in Japanese. And you can get more japanese fonts on:
http://www.travelphrases.info/gallery/Font...nese.html#links

If you're wondering, the standard japanese fonts are:
MS Gothic
MS Mincho

Hope that helps.
