I never cared for EGM. Somewhere between referring to Tifa as Cloud's "childhood sweetheart" or saying that they hope that Aerith's appearance in AV is only limited to a dream sequence, I've concluded that they are your standard bratty videogame columnist 30 year old boys with an amazing knack for confusing their unhealthy desire for depraved charictures of women with actual respect. It was this phenomenon that propelled an amateurish game called Tomb Raider into one of the most popular franchises in recent history. "We like it for the game!" yeah right. It would be cheaper and more effective to buy a playboy and a castlevania game and enjoy them seperately. -_-

I have an EGM subscription. While they are usually biased and full of male hormones in these cases, they don't twist words said by people they are interviewing. So you have to give them that.

Amy's given me some little tidbits, but other than that, the scan just. won't. open. up. It always stops halfway loading, and I'm stuck at the first few words. <_< Anyone mind uploading the scan to a different server?

I find it awesome that Nomura refers to the stereotype of the "big, buff guy" being the first to be offed in, well... many things. Anime, manga, movies, stories. I was expecting the same to happen to Loz for the very same reason. Nice to know they decided to go for a more unique route instead. ^_^

It actually makes a lot of sense that Aeris, Cloud and Barret were going to be the only characters because... *Flips through her book* ...in the FFVII Official Establishment File, there's a page where it shows how all the characters are related to each other (including Shinra) and the only party members shown are Cloud, Aeris and Barret.

Really? I guess it fits with that CG rendering of Cloud, Aeris and Barret in front of Midgar, too. I think Nanaki was another of the early characters.

^The Aerith-Cloud-Barret piece was an official pic? For some reason, I always thought it was something fan-made!

I think this pic gives a good indication of who were the early characters. There are quite a number of Amano artwork featuring just Cloud and Red too., so I think you're right, Seii ^_^

I feel so slow now. I didn't even realize the figure behind Aeris was Barret until now. I already knew Red, Cloud, and Aeris were in the picture, but I didn't know Barret and, what I assume is, Cait Sith in there also. :blush:

Ah, that clears things up for me bigtime. It does make a lot of sense regarding the artwork showing Aeris, Barret and Cloud (at first I thought it was because these were the three most pivotal characters, but if you think about it, that's clearly not the case: Aeris, Cloud and Sephiroth or Aeris, Cloud and Tifa would make so much more sense) and it shows why these were the three characters used for the beta demo.

That Amano art is confusing. I didn't recognise Barret either. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Amano art, and I think the art for Final Fantasy VII is horrible :X.
