I know there was that "What couples remind you of Cloud x Aeris?" thread, but this thread's a little different.

Does anyone else besides me see a bit of Cleris emulated in Lenne and Shuyin? A lot of people, for example, say that Cloud looks like Shuyin, and Lenne looks like Tifa. I agree about Cloud, but Lenne reminds me much more of Aeris. I noticed their body types first. Lenne is extremely thin, and Aeris is extremely thin. Lenne has light brown hair and gentle greenish-gold eyes, similar to Aeris. When I was watching the 1000 Words video, the small scene between Shuyin and Lenne almost seemed like the Cloud x Aeris scene we never got. ^_^

I also see Cleris emulated in Squall and Rinoa? And I don't just mean VIII-wise. There was that Itadaki picture of Aeris and Rinoa that surfaced online awhile back, and just recently we have a picture of Cloud back to back with Leon.

Maybe it's the Cleris in me who sees the hints emulated in other Final Fantasy couples (and I use Final Fantasy couples only because there are similarities in the way Nomura and his team do their work, which could point us in the right guessing direction for Advent Children). Does anyone else notice these?

Yes, I've noticed those too, apart from the FFX-2 things, because I haven't finished it.

CHRONO CROSS SPOILERS

Serge/Kidd is also a couple that's extremely similar to Cleris. You've got Serge and Leena, his childhood friend, at the beginning of the game, Serge meets the mysterious girl, Kidd, and after a few areas of the game, Serge loses Kidd for a while after turning into Lynx.

Kidd does come back, which is what's different from Cleris, but another similarity between her and Aeris is that they're very closely tied in with what's happening to the world(s). Also, Aeris has the White Materia, while Kidd has Schala's pendant. Coincidence? I think not. The part that also seems Cleris-y is that Kidd is always searching for Serge during the ending, like how Cloud's been alone for at least a while for the two years between FFVII and AC, and how he thought he could meet Aeris in the Promised Land.

I personally find a bit of Cleris in all the main FF couples after 7

ZidanexGarnet- Garnet's got the typical main female thing goin' on(summoner, last of her kind, spiritual/magical, etc etc), and Zidane's the physical fighter. But personality wise they're a bit flip-flopped, still the opposites attract thing though. And at the end of the game, Garnet thinks Zidane is dead and yet still loves him, and (I think) intends to commit suicide to find him

(And CloTi's? Aeris had long, brown hair too ;) And hers and Lenne's is lighter than Tifa's)

What I have noticed is, the 'childhood friends' never end up together. The hero always ends up with the mysterious beautiful girl he meets.
It's been like this since the old-school games like Chrono Trigger where Crono and Marle end up together instead of childhood friends Crono and Lucca.

Yeah, the hero usually never ends up with his childhood friend. He ends up with the girl he meets during the course of the game, and that girl ALWAYS has mysterious powers. (Marle, Aeris, Rinoa, Garnet, Kidd, Yuna)

I think that Yuri & Alice are similar to Cloud and Aerith and their Story and ending of Shadow Hearts 2 could be the perfect ending for Advent Children. It is a wonderful game!!

Wait, in Chrono Cross, didn't Serge still end up with Leena in the end? He couldn't remember anything about his adventures anyway, including Kid and Schala. I assumed that even though Leena played a relatively small part in the game, she was the one that Serge marries in the end. I mean, Serge was pretty much her boyfriend, not just a friend in whom she had an interest. One reason why I didn't like CC as much. <_<

Well, there's that picture near the book during the "good" ending. It shows Kidd in a wedding-type dress, standing next to a guy. You can't see his face, but I'd bet it's Serge.

It is Serge, there's a caption next to the picture in one of the CC artbooks. ;) I also remember an interview with one of the directors, where he talked about Serge's love for Kidd.

Really?! I never looked at the CC art books so I wouldn't know. I always wondered who the mystery guy was... Was the picture taken before or after CC? Probaly after, but would that mean that Serge and Kid met again? Then there was that part where Kid was wearing the white dress at the beach... Could it be possible that she actually did find Serge?! Uh oh, I wonder how Leena would take it, I doubt she'd let Serge go without a fight. :D

I was talking to my friend about that at school today, he was all like, "Well I mean I see Cloud and Aerith toether.....but other FF's do not have proof." But if you look at the pattern, it is the Warrior and the Summoner/healer.

Rinoa: Summoner/healer (really she is a sorceress thingy but screw it that is the same thing)

Yuna: Summoner/ healer(depending on if you choose her to heal.)

I never played FF9 so I do not know about that but if Garnet is a ummoner/healrer person then yeppers it is a pattern.......from every FF I have played.

Yes, Garnet is indeed a white mage and summoner. I love Garnet and Zidane. I have to agree that the main pairings in FF from VII on much white mage/warrior. I haven't played some of the older ones yet though, so I don't know about some of those.

Hmmmm...would Denzel and Marlene count? They remind me SO much of a mini-Cloud and mini-Aerith!

I agree with this comparison a lot and I'm glad that you brought it up actually. ^_^

It's easy to see the similarities between Aeris and Marlene from the very cute ribbon-and-braids, to her seeming association with flowers (I thought it very cute that she was holding the flower, almost as if the default choice was to give it to her and NOT Tifa). She's very innocent and cute, but stubborn and strong-willed (as you can tell by her line about chewing out Cloud when he gets back, " And when he does, we' ll give him some good predicament! ")

Denzel and Cloud are also very similar, perhaps from the fact that Denzel was supposedly "raised" by Cloud. I can't quite comment more, unfortunately, as I have not seen the movie yet. :lol:

However, I do want to make some points about their relationship together. They're obviously close and they have their cute moments as well including this:

Ya, I think Squall and Rinoa REALLY seem like Cloud and Aerith! I mean at the end of the game he says "I think I can meet her there" and then in the beginning of 8,"I'll be waiting here" gawd it really seems like it! :P

That's something else I noticed. The flowerfield scene is very significant for Squall and Rinoa...curious that it also turn out to be significant in Advent Children for Cloud and Aerith. I don't know if this is a hint but the parallels... :cleris:

Has anyone here seen the Anime Loki Ragnarok? In the opening sequence, Loki and his love interest are shown back-to-back in a flower field. :whistle:

Also, in the ending sequence of Ah! My Goddess, you can see Keichi and Belldandy standing back to back. Then you see her hand on his arm, while he is still standing with his back to her. Then, you see a close-up of their hands as they hold hands. Cloud and Aerith in AC, anyone? :cleris:

Sailor Jupiter, Kanami, and Millie Thompson reminds me a lot of Aerith. I think it's because they all have brown hair and green or turquois eyes.

As for characterwise, Kanami is definately a dead ringer for Aerith.

Really, I think Quistis has pretty much the same personality as Tifa. She loved Squall but didn't tell him until it was too late. Finally at the end, she decides to love him from a platonic level. Sound familiar? :cleris:

I think Lenne's eyes are Hazel, meaning they're a greeny-brown colour.

I've beat the gme more than thrice now, and I've noticed some similarities....

Actually..a LOT!

here are some:

- Musashi, the lead character has this large sword, the big Oar, which resembles the buster sword a lot. It is his default sword.

-he is fighting against Gandrake and his company. More like Shinra vs Cloud. XD

- he met Princess Mycella, a girl dressed in a pink dress, who uses a staff, and has a pink ribbon not on her hair, but on her arm.

-oh, and her hair is brown. XD her eyes are green

-Musashi has extremley spiky hair

- the lead villain, Gandrake, has long, flowy, and black hair (aww...not silver?). With a long sword. He looks a hell lot like a young sephiroth

- i dunno with this, but Mycella was placed in a container similar to the Jenova thing. Musashi had to save her thrice.



*spoiler!*
- mycella dies in the game. Not by a sword actually, but by a cannon (not a large one..). She died on a circle like thing where aerith died. Afterwards, Musashi fights. He beats gandrake,Musashi carries her Cloud style back to the town, in the middle of the fountain. (water...XD) But then gandrake comes back for an encore they fight and boom. Gandrake is dead....

(sounds familiar?)

- but mycella gets ressurected!

Nice work! i've read about this game, but i've never seen it in stores.I think that motocycle scene is similar to the part of FF7 when you are chased by Shinra soldiers.

What about Van and Hitomi? Of the Vision of Escaflowne fame? Maaya Sakamoto's debut as a voice actress.

Van, like Cloud, literally fell in Hitomi's life (while she was doing that run), but, like Cloud again, it wasn't the first time they "met". Hitomi's meeting with Van is shown before we were introduced to Amano, the "initial" love interest, like how we met Aeris first before Tifa was shown. Van has a clumsy way of cheering Hitomi up, but he succeeds more often than not. He promised to protect her and Hitomi is a stranger in that world, like Aeris might be argued to be, being a half-Cetra and all.

The ending is similar to Cloud and Aeris too. Van and Hitomi live in differing worlds. She had to go back to Earth, leaving Gaia and Van behind, but the distance doesn't matter. They love each other and as long as they do, their hearts are connected and they can see each other anytime.

During the end of Escaflowne, there's even a scene reminiscent of AC.

Hitomi, gazing into the distance, sees Van watching her. She smiles and quietly replies, "I'm just fine," making Van smile at her in turn. Then, he vanishes, going back to his own world once more.

I'll say Lacus and Kira.
I heard of people complaining about Lacus goodie-goodie personality (like Aeris) and some even comparing her to Aeris and how underdevolped and emotionless they are.

Lacus is like Aeris. Good-hearted, Kind, helpful, cheerful and positive. :lol:
But just like Aeris, Lacus had her down time too. (Similar, I think so.)

Though Kira isn't a bit like Cloud, he is one confused person. And just like Aeris gently guiding Cloud, Lacus guides Kira.
