Title: A Forgotten Greatness...
Description: Classic Jazz.
Nevi - August 22, 2005 03:40 AM (GMT)
Does anyone like, or remember classic Jazz? From when the world was swingin'! :fangirl: My personal obsessions are;
Tony Bennett
Frank Sinatra
Nat King Cole
Fats Waller
Louis Armstrong
Louis Prima
Ella Fitzgerald
Etta James
Barbra Streisand
Bobby Darin
Mel Torme
The Modern Jazz Quartet
Judy Garland (aka: Dorothy from the wizard of oz)
And lots more! ^_^
Anything from the 1930's through the 1960's Jazz wias was amazing! But soon the light hearted and sorrowful ballads gave way to the era of Rock N' Roll. Such a pity and a shame.

Heh. I have never heard of any of these people. ^_^; Although you have told me of Sinatra. But that's it. =) I don't listen to jazz. X3

Gyah! Another lover of the classics! There's a station here in North Cali that plays classic Jazz and such
Oh! Have you heard of Micheal Buble? He sings alot of the old standards, and he's really good! Sounds just like Frankie! Oh! Harry Connick Junior does too, but I prefer Buble' for some reason
Me and my sister watched this special concert of Judy Garland doing all these duets with other singers. The one she did with Tony Bennet was HYSTERICAL! That lady's got one weird sense of humor!
Nevi - August 23, 2005 02:49 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah! I love Michel Buble's singing! ^_^ Did you know his name is pronounced "Booblay"? Weird, no?
I forgot to put that I love Billie Holiday and Bing Crosby too! ^_^
You so lucky! I would kill for a station like that here in Atlanta. And the Garland and Bennett duo sounds uber cool! :fangirl:
Sefie - August 23, 2005 03:11 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I knew that cuz they play him on the radio all the time. Heard "Home" by him yet? Gah, it's to DIE for!
Bing Crosby....*Swoons*

I'm trying to get me a hat like Sinatra's! ^_^ I think it would look cute on a girl. :fangirl: I just love hats anyway.
Sefie - August 25, 2005 03:07 AM (GMT)
Target sells really cute fedoras :D
And yes, they look VERY cute on girls
Nevi - August 25, 2005 03:21 AM (GMT)
Ooh! I would run to target but it's 11:21 and I bet they're closed! >.<
Sefie - August 26, 2005 04:10 AM (GMT)
Yup, we close at 10! But don't worry, there'll still be some
(There's these really CUTE black ones with grey pinstripes...*dies* I wish I looked good in hats!)

I love it! It's so soothing, yet fun! I wish I knew more about it, but I love to listen to it. I'm a classical kinda girl, much to my husband's dislike.
Sefie - August 26, 2005 10:35 PM (GMT)
Yay! Another fan to chat with!
I have to admit I don't KNOW a whole bunch of it either, but I know that I like it :D
And I know that my monitor is dusty*wipes it*
Tacofoolio - August 26, 2005 10:48 PM (GMT)
I know like the basics, but not as much as I want to. My husband would cry, he's a big rap guy. I like rap, but not all full volume, full bass, full time. The meanie wont let me put on my classical, jazz, or anything soothing... *sigh*

I know most of these singers, but I can't say that I'm a huge fan of their music or anything. My parents always used to listen to their music. I like some of the songs done by Barbara Streisand, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Judy Garland.... but I can't say that I like it enough to listen to their music on the radio for hours at a time.
My favorite: Nat King Cole singing that Christmas carol about "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire". That's really nice. :)

| Blech! Rap!? |
Agreed. Most rap songs just irritate me. <_<
Sefie - August 27, 2005 01:47 AM (GMT)
I like Cole's "L-O-V-E", and "When I fall in Love". I bought one of his cd's for cheapie in Scotland

:huggle: Just kidding! lol
Anyway, has anyone seen the Barbara Streisand movie "Funny Girl?" It's so sad and funny! It was her first movie too! I can't believe it because her acting was so good!
Sefie - August 29, 2005 07:52 PM (GMT)
Well, 1. DQ lives in Scotland, so he flew me out to visit him! And 2. nobody really knows him very well there, I think, so taht's why the cd was cheap
Nope, haven't seen it! Stiesand's kinda banned in my house after she wrote that letter to Bush(very republican family)
Nevi - September 8, 2005 03:37 PM (GMT)
Yeah are family is very republican too. (Bush rocks! lol)
But I still love Streisand singing and acting because hey, she's a celebrity! Like her opinion matters any way, get out of politics I say, stick to singing and acting! It's what you're good at!
Sefie - September 8, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
That's exactly the way I feel! I'm not listening to her political views when I watch "Hello Dolly", but my mom....eh!
Hey Nevi, you get that fedora yet?
Nevi - September 18, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
No... All of my money is going towards a cosplay costume. My dear fedora will have to wait! *dispair* lol
