Title: The Honeybee Prophecy

Alan Bates - August 18, 2005 05:31 AM (GMT)
Now if you look into one of the rooms in the Honey Bee inn, you'll find a group of people including President Shinra acting out a little show. However, it's caused me to stop and think a few times about what it might actually mean.

The Entire bit goes like this.

... the wind's calm now ...
It's the curse of the ressurected Satan ...
Our beloved Queen does not awaken ...
The time is ripe ...
A legend has been passed on though generations...
... the sought after Promised Land ...
... One with Blue Eyes ...
... and a Great White Sword on his back ...
... will not lead to the Promised Land ...

Great sword, blue eyes? Swords sort of like Cloud, doesn't it?
Going though it, I can make out slight bits where it ties directly to the plot of FFVII.

QUOTE
It's the curse of the ressurected Satan ...

I can't help but think to Sephiroth on this one. A great evil that was thought to be dead? Sounds just like him.

QUOTE
Our beloved Queen does not awaken ...

The only person that I can think of that would fit the description of being a "beloved Queen" in any sense would be Aeris. And if it's her, it's pretty obvious why she's not awakening.

QUOTE
... One with Blue Eyes ...
... and a Great White Sword on his back ...
... will not lead to the Promised Land ...

Now this sounds very much like Cloud, but I've never actually be able to put a meaning to the last line there.

Does anybody else have any opinnions on this part?

good call Alan... I had almost forgotten about that little cut scene... Unfortunately, I'm as lost as you are on that last statement. Cloud will not lead us to the Promised Land? I'll buy it, I supposed... but if that's what is being communicated, I don't know how that ties with the storyline of FF7 exactly

On another note... I took the "Queen" line to be a reference to Jenova... but Aerith sounds a bit more plausible, now that you mention it.

Alan Bates - August 18, 2005 05:56 AM (GMT)
That is a possibility, but I can't see anybody describing Jenova as Beloved.

Clorith - August 18, 2005 10:14 AM (GMT)
I always thought of the resurrected Satan to be Jenova, but now that you mention it, Sephiroth would do, too. :)

Wingless - August 18, 2005 12:12 PM (GMT)
I rather thought "the curse of the resurrected Satan" was Jenova, too, Clorith.

The problem I have with the one with the blue eyes being Cloud is that it says he "will not lead to the Promised Land". So it makes me think that the false Cetra, Sephiroth, is the one who "will not lead to the Promised Land."

But you could take "he will not lead to the Promised Land" as, he will have to be "led" to the promised land. Hmm, I don't know. ^_^ It is a riddle, as many things are in Final Fantasy VII.

I think the story is incomplete, conveniently. ^_^ Typical SE. :P

EnglishRose - August 18, 2005 12:20 PM (GMT)
I thought the queen bit would be Jenova. *shrugs* Thats a good notice, Alan. ^_^

Sephiroth has green eyes and doesn't wear his sword across his back.

I never thought that the first part of the quote went with the prophecy. I thought the prophecy started where it says that a legend has been passed on through generations:

... the wind's calm now ...
It's the curse of the ressurected Satan ...
Our beloved Queen does not awaken ...
The time is ripe ...

I think that part is separate from the second part. It says that this part is the legend, not the first part:

A legend has been passed on though generations...
... the sought after Promised Land ...
... One with Blue Eyes ...
... and a Great White Sword on his back ...
... will not lead to the Promised Land ...

I don't think it's strange that Cloud won't lead to the Promised Land. The Shinra were wanting to be led to the Promised Land, but Cloud refused to let them have it. Why would Cloud lead anyone to it if he doesn't want the Shinra to have it?

SweetJanie - August 18, 2005 03:26 PM (GMT)
Well, Cloud was a failed experiment...maybe that's why he won't lead them to the Promised Land...

And I don't think the beloved queen is Aeris... Aeris is still young, so she'd be more like a princess, just like she was in the play! I really believe it's Jenova, because at first they thought she was a Cetra and, with her, they were able to make the Great Sephiroth. Wasn't it Aeris' father (forgot his name!! ;_;) that found out she wans't, but an ET organism that eliminated the Cetra. For that she'd become queen of the planet and, to the scientist, a beloved one.

Does it make any sense to you? :/

Tacofoolio - August 18, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)
Not to me... sorry! ^_^'

I think Aeris makes sense considering how beloved she is, and I'd call her a queen of the planet considering how she's old enough, mature enough, there is no other cetra left who would be put above her, and if you think she wasn't, I think she proved her strength and maturity at her death, therefore making her a queen. Just because she wears pink and doesn't take everything seriously doesn't mean she couldn't be considered a queen.

That's a very interesting observation, SweetJanie - since the whole SOLDIER and Sephiroth experiment was tied to Shinra's desire to search for the Promised Land. I would completely agree with that thought!

I never knew about this until about two days ago, so I'm not really sure. But here's what I think.

QUOTE

Our beloved Queen does not awaken ...
The time is ripe ...

I think this part has to do with Jenova. If you think about it, it says 'Our beloved Queen does not awaken Satan. So Aeris has to be the queen. She didn't awaken Jenova, Sephiroth did.

QUOTE

The legend is the Promised Land, it says that. The one with blue eyes, and a great white sword on his back I always thought was Sephiroth. If you read it, it says 'Will not lead to the Promised Land' Sephiroth couldn't possibly find the way to the Promised Land.

I think the Promised Land is for people who have repented for their sins. Cloud did his best, and I think he accomplished in that. Aeris was a Cetra, so she has automatic rights to go there. Sephiroth couldn't possibly go there. He's done too many horrible things to even be triald if you know what I mean.

Intreresting idea. However I read it more as "the curse of the ressurected Satan is WHY the queen isn't awakening."

As for the guy with the blue eyes and the great white sword on his back, it can't be Sephiroth, Sephiroth has green eyes and is even shown wearing the sword on his back.

A more cynical look at it might be tied to what Aeris said. You know the Promised land when you get there. If Cloud can't lead anyone there, perhaps it's tied into the fact that he can't find peace and happiness.

Starlight Night - August 20, 2005 12:17 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I realized that the
'One with blue eyes and a great white sword on his back'
couldn't be Sephy after I post that. I couldn't do anything to fix it because my computer mess up. Glad that I made a point though ^_^

Schala - August 20, 2005 12:58 AM (GMT)
Even with all your explanations it still doesn't make much sense to me. :( What I really want to know is why the prophecy came through President Shinra. Who is it for?
