Japanese theater release

On 9/8 Japan intends on a premier release in theatres. According to FF7 AC Reunion the Japanese are also deciding on a theatrical release elswhere on 9/10. Thanks to forum member Cloud_S for finding the information.

You'll find more news from Gamespot about this in the eighth post down. It appears that AC will appear in Japanese theaters only.

RPGamer also says that the movie won't be shown in theaters outside of Japan.

Good question. We don't know yet. :(

But we also know the whole movie is showing at the Venice Film Festival this year. The FF is August 31 - Sept. 10.

Yeah, even if it is in "another country" I seriously doubt they would think of Canada. <_<

Feh... personally, I wouldn't mind if they didn't have a theater release for AC here in the states. <_< I choose watching AC in the comforts in my room than in a theater next to some rude asshole talking on their cell phone during the movie. Don't get me wrong, I'll gladly spend 10 bucks or more just to watch AC, but I hate movie theaters. <_<

FFVII: Advent Children to premiere in Japanese theaters

Square Enix reveals its upcoming DVD movie will hit Japanese cinemas before release on DVD.

MAKUHARI MESSE--Square Enix announced today that its forthcoming computer-animated movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will be hitting theaters in Japan before its release on DVD. The company revealed at its Square Enix Party that the movie will be making it premiere in Japan on September 8, and then will officially open in the country's theaters on September 10. The DVD and UMD release will follow four days later on September 14.

Square Enix's announcement came as a surprise to the audiences at the show. But although the news was huge, it was only unveiled in the form of a few lines of text after the presentation of its FFVIIAC trailer. The company hasn't disclosed details on where Advent Children will be showing, and it seems possible that the movie might only be available in a limited selection of theaters.

This is the second major announcement regarding FFVIIAC that Square Enix has made during the month. The company also announced earlier that the movie will once again be shown as this year's 62nd Venice Film Festival, this time in its completed form.

More news from the Square Enix party in Japan has surfaced; this time, however, it concerns the company's second foray into motion pictures -- Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Specifically, official plans to bring the upcoming film to movie theaters across Japan were made public. The movie is set to premiere on September 8, followed by an official, nation-wide public theater release on September 10. The planned release date for the DVD and UMD release of the movie has not changed and is still scheduled for September 14 -- just four days after the theatrical release.

The news was revealed in the form of merely a few lines of text following a trailer of the film shown at the party. Unfortunately, details on exactly where the film will be shown were not disclosed. It's still possible that the movie will only see a limited theatrical release in Japan. Though Advent Children won't be seen in movie theaters stateside, North Americans can still look forward to seeing the film in their living rooms when it hits stores on September 13.
