Okay I was playing FF7 and I noticed something. In the begining of the game, Cloud is cold, and acts like he only cares about himself but, after the first misson when he sees Aeris, he doesn't act cold and mean towards her. Colud this be love at first sight?

you can chose to be mean by telling her nothing or buying a flower from her, so its your choice.
when he crashes through the roof he's confused (wouldnt you be if you fell a few storeys crashed through a roof and onto a bed of flowers) he has to think about what to say so not to offend her, i dont think it was love at first sight for cloud with aeris or Tifa, he has too many issues to deal with at the start.

I think he loved her at first site. :) Who wouldn't? :aeris: He certainly didn't like Tifa much at the begining of the game :whistle: they are soulmates!!

I think it all depends on how you see the game, but what I think is that neither was love at first sight, you can choose to be as mean as possible to Aeris in both scenes...


You wouldn't call it love at first sight if someone called you the Slum Drunk, would you? But Cloud can also act rude to Tifa when he sees her in the game, it all depends on how you see it, I could say that Cloud loved Aeris at first sight because he bought her flowers, or I could say that Cloud loved Tifa at first sight 'cause he gave her a flower. o_0 I don't think either were love at first sight.

I think Cloud realised he loved her when she died. He did, I reckon, have feelings for her, but he didn't realise how much they had grown until she ran off. :aeris: Remember how he tried to follow her in his dream, when she sprinted off into the light? He followed her. Go to that bit again. He practically cried when she died, and Cloud was determined to claim revenge on Sephiroth, and he would not forgive him for wrecking his life. :cloud: I think in this situation, his feelings for her grew. It was not a fad or crush, like it was with Tifa, this is more deep and complex. Something Cloud and Aeris never felt before. :cleris:

I think he felt attracted to her as soon as he crashed through the church cause he immediately agreed to the date thing. Before that...yea, its pretty much up to the player. :wub:

Cloud was unusually protective with Aerith (why else would she say "You're just like Cloud! Don't go there, it's too dangerous, blahblahblah!" during the Corel prison?). He immediately accepts a date, not monetary gain, from said girl (and you are aware Aerith can charge 300 gil to a guy with her business so him having the impression she's peniless is nil). He actually jokes to her when she was slowing down about the whole thing she was being chased by the Turks, saying she's SOLDIER material. And he asked "Were you close" regarding Aerith and Zack, which shows he was interested with her love life.

I think the connection is quite strong there.

maybe. But I think thats because he was attracted to her, but he didn't love her. She's very pretty, and I'm sure she has lots of admirers, inlcuding Cloud. She certainly like him, but considering Cloud's past, I guess he didn't want to fall in love too quicky. :cleris:

Clotis like to think Cloud is seriously being mean to her, but we all know he was just teasing her. Whether he's seriously trying to tell her that he cares for her, or whether he's teasing her to get a cute reaction out of her...I thought it was pretty clear by the end of the game which girl resides in his heart.

The Slum Drunk thing is optional, but the point is, depending on how you interpret the game, either can be love at first sight, depending on which options you chose. I don't really think calling Aeris the Slum Drunk is exactly being nice to her, but the non-optional part was that Cloud was very protective of Aeris and he agreed on the date even when they had just met. I think that he was just being nice to her because he landed on her flowers at first, but I do think there was a certain attraction, not a "OMGILUFFAERIS" though.

Yes, the Slum Drunk thing is optional. So is Cloud saying that he hopes Aerith likes him to Marlene and telling Aerith that he'd like to go out with her again after their Date.

But I always thought that Cloud treated Tifa quite rudely in the Seventh Heaven, regardless of which options you choose. He walked out on her three times with Tifa begging him to stay. He never agreed to join Avalanche until Barret agreed to pay him with part of Marlene's school money. He walked out of the Playground in Sector 6 to go to Elmyra's house without saying a thing to Tifa or Barret. He started to walk out of Elmyra's house to rescue Aerith without inviting Tifa along - Tifa had to ask him to come along. He told Tifa that he didn't care about the Planet or Avalanche more than once. He even says this to Tifa in the train on their way to the second reactor:

Tifa "Scary... huh."
Cloud "Too late to be saying that now. Why'd you come along anyway?"

Neither his behavior to Tifa nor what he says to her sound like a "love at first sight" interpretation is possible to me, regardless of the options.

Anyways, what I meant by that was whether either was love at first sight it just depends on how you interpret the game, I'm not saying that because Cloud has the option of calling Aeris the Slum Drunk means he hated her.

Tsk tsk tsk...interpretations interpretations. Personally, I think it's just teasing...but yea...Cloud shall be EVIL to Aerith if it's what people want to think of it.

Yeah, I really don't think it was love at first sight either. But, I do think Cloud was fascinated by and attracted to Aerith when they first met. I mean, just think about it... Cloud is a mercenary and has been working with AVALANCHE. He has been blowing up stuff, running from Shinra, getting into fights, and hanging out with other rough-and-tumble soldiers. Then, suddenly, he wakes up to find himself in a flower garden, in a church, with a beautiful flower girl watching over him. Aerith must have been a nice change from who he had been with and her flower garden was like a small Eden in the slums of Midgar. Her sweet innocence and angelic beauty were probably very attractive to a man that has been through so much violence and has been hanging out with the likes of Tifa and Jessie (merc girls! LOL). So, when she asked for his help, how could he say no? He was fascinated by her. He wanted to know more about her. Why wouldn't he say yes? :cleris:

Okay, Cloud comes down from the church, etc, then Aeris says something like "nice to see you again", I forget, but something like that and then she says, "You do remember me, don't you?" and Cloud can either say "I remember you..." or "Never seen you before" pick the remember one and then the option of "You were that flower girl" or "You're the slum drunk!" comes up. XD

I'm not sure it was love at first site, but Aeris at least thought he was cute when she first saw him. I think Cloud was just happy to finally meet somebody that liked him with no prconceived notins or without expecting anything out of him.

I don't believe it was love at first sight, but I do believe they were attracted to each other. Cloud, because of Aeris's personality and mystery about her, and Aeris because he first reminded her of Zack. Though I don't go with the "Aeris only loved Cloud because he reminded her of Zack" theory. I despise that theory.

I don't think it was love at first sight, but there was an instant attraction; whatever you say to Aeris, Cloud still accepts a date as payment, and as a "cold mercenary", that's quite an out-of-character thing to do unless he was actually interested in going on a date with her.

The slum drunk thing? I always thought it was said jokingly, but the thing about text media is that you can't judge the tone of a speaking character's voice; it needn't necessarily have been insulting, and the way Aeris reacts to it -- lightheartedly -- would imply that it wasn't. I don't know.

I think that the feelings between Cloud and Aeris began initially with attraction and deepened over time.
