Say Cloud was somehow taken out of the picture does anyone ( a story of mine is where Aerith is brought back to life but in exchange for Cloud) think that Aerith and Tifa could become even closer as they share their grief together over him? :blink:


Generally I'm not very into yuri pairings as for the most part it just seems about sex and for something for horny crazy men to get off on but with Aerith and Tifa it's different. I can see beyond sex. With them it's not about sex it's about something special :)

I feel similarly to you about the depth of Aeris and Tifa's friendship. They both connect and care about each other very quickly - in the Don's place they're already finishing each other's sentences, Aeris lifts Tifa's spirits when she feels hopeless and Tifa's reaction when Tseng kidnaps Aeris (running to the edge of the platform, calling out her name and reaching out her hand to her) was very beautiful, and shows genuine warmth, trust and affection between the two girls. They clearly love each very much already and as they're both girls, I'm sure that they both got to see other sides to each other on their journey than Cloud was able to see. And I do agree that if it wasn't for the fact that they're both in love with the same man, their friendship could easily have blossomed into a romance.

AerisxTifa is the only fanon yuri pairing I've encountered (so far) that I enjoy. With all others, it's mostly about the sex (take YunaxRikkuxPaine, for example) but I can actually see the potential for a happy and healthy relationship here. It would be about the relationship, not sex. It would be a relationship of equals, as they'd both be a little hesitant and nervous about taking that step, so there's no case of one pushing the other into a romance. It'd develop naturally, and be a strong and devoted relationship on such solid foundations. It's a perfect dark-light pairing; one is strong where the other is weak. Aeris' positivity could boost Tifa and give her more confidence and Tifa could encourage Aeris to think things through more often. They would nourish each other emotionally, rather than feed off each other's weaknesses. Physically stronger, Tifa could be a hero herself, whilst Aeris is no pushover with her arsenal of magic (so Tifa wouldn't feel worried for her sake all the time), and also has the heart of a true hero, which Tifa would deeply admire.

So please sign me up, Fury. This is a lovely pairing, and if Cloud were somehow out of the picture forever, then I'd root for it all the way. :fangirl:

Tifa's story really makes me go all goeey when it comes to powerful feelings between Aerith and Tifa that are shown :P

When it says that Tifa wasn't grieving after Aerith's death I don't see that meaning that she didn't care. It does say that she was sad, and after Aerith's death in FFVII Tifa seems sad to me, she just didn't remain there to continue to be sad thus turning it in continuous grief, instead she ran away from Aerith's body to become angry and continue on her journey so she could make Sephiroth pay :P

I think you're exactly right in your interpretation, Fury. Of course Tifa cared about Aeris! That was the problem - because she cared so much, she felt a lot of pain she just couldn't deal with at the time, so she locked it away. I get the impression that Tifa's sense of grief and loss was so much that she just couldn't let herself acknowledge or feel it while she still had to help save the Planet. She just pushed it down and changed it into anger and hate, to keep driving her. People deal with grief in a variety of different ways. Just because Tifa denied and delayed hers doesn't mean that she hated Aeris, or that she's a bad person.

I loved it too! The moment with Tifa and the raindrop was so beautiful! :sad:

At least it'll go towards convincing some fans that the two girls didn't hate each other's guts... :no:
