We've decided to establish some Club Rules. Someone started a club that some members thought may lead to clubs endorsing Cloud and Aerith coupled with other partners, so we decided to make the following Rules:

Club Rules

1. Clubs are intended to be for couples, characters, and games that you like.

2. Cloud and Aerith can be paired with someone else in yaoi and yuri clubs ONLY. Yaoi and yuri clubs using Cloud or Aerith should state in the first post that the yaoi/yuri couple is not considered canon.

3. Clubs pairing Cloud with a female other than Aerith are not allowed, since this forum only endorses Cloud's love for Aerith. We don't want to endorse the idea of Cloud loving any woman other than Aerith.

4. Clubs pairing Aerith with a male other than Cloud are not allowed, since this forum only endorses Aerith's love for Cloud. We don't want to endorse the idea of Aerith loving any man other than Cloud.

*Raises hand* I've got a question, why are yaoi and yuri allowed? Cuz that's Cloud and Aeris loving someone other than each other.

Coz Final Fantasies have never portrayed a yaoi or yuri coupling involving the main protagonist/main heroine as the main (canon) love interest, so the idea of a yaoi/yuri coupling can't challenge CloudxAerith as the main love interest of the game.

I'd like to say that we allowed yaoi and yuri so we can have some fun and let our imagination fly. Besides yaoi and yuri couples have always been extremely popular among Final Fantasy fans, but yet no one has ever tried to make them sound official in any way.
They are usually just what we like to dream about...those sweet, sweet yaoi and yuri couples. :P

I know some people dislike yaoi and yuri, but we need to give our members some freedom and space to play with no matter how CloudxAerith we are. Do you not agree, Sefie?

You raised a good question, Sefie, and there was quite a bit of discussion about it. But since yaoi/yuri couplings have never been the main love interest portrayed in Final Fantasies, we didn't feel that it would raise debate against CloudxAerith being the main love interest of the game.

And is it also because that not everyone in this forum is comfortable with the Yaoi/Yuri thing? ;)

No, it's because someone wanted to start a club for a Yaoi coupling with Cloud, and some members were afraid that it would contradict Cloud's love for Aerith. I didn't feel that a yaoi club would contradict Cloud's love for Aerith simply because no yaoi or yuri coupling has ever been the main love interest in a Final Fantasy. However, allowing a yaoi club with Cloud could lead to other clubs where Cloud was paired with a woman other than Aerith, and we didn't want that. We thought the best compromise was to allow only the yaoi/yuri clubs.
