Title: Ffvii Remake
Description: What would you want to see?

FF_Goddess - June 25, 2005 08:20 PM (GMT)
Since there are rumors flying about a FFVII remake for PS3 (which I would LOVE to see), I thought I would ask everyone here what they would like to see in a FFVII remake.

For me, I would want the remake to remain true to FFVII. I wouldn't want a whole lot of changes. However, I would like a clarification on who Cloud truly loved for all of the morons out there that couldn't tell he loved Aerith. I think a remake could do that. With the new graphics, you would be able to see facial expressions. You could see the pain on Cloud's face when Aerith dies, the indifference on his face when Tifa confesses her feelings under the Highwind. A remake would be a grand opportunity for S-E to settle the LTD once and for all.

But... would they do it? :ermm:

Sefie - June 25, 2005 08:32 PM (GMT)
FFG, that sounds PERFECT. I would want them to remain exactly to the script(except repair the translations and typo's of course), but just with neater graphics

yin-chan - June 26, 2005 04:45 AM (GMT)
Oh!! Yes! I want it to stay exactly the same! same materia, same battle system, same story, same script, same everything!
and better graphics of course!
it would be lovely if they settled the LTD like make cloud say "i love you" or show them kiss in the gondola or something...but lots of people would think that it would spoil the original game...so i'm kinda neutral on that part. :P

Kaldea - June 26, 2005 04:51 AM (GMT)
It's funny how cleris fans don't want the game to change much at all while the clotis want everything changed to reflect how they see the game.

I would also like to see clearly the expressions on the rest of the gang's faces when Aerith dies. None of that "they were so glad when she died" crap! I'd like to see Tifa and Yuffie sobbing their eyes out, the sympathy on Cid and Barret's faces, Red XIII howling morosely, and whatever sad expressions that were on Vincent and Cait Sith's faces.

Exactly. I hate it when people say ANY of the members of Cloud and Co. were HAPPY when Aerith died. They were CLEARLY upset. If you missed that, then you are blind or deluded.

Plus, the fact that ALL of them are wearing pink ribbons in remembrance of Aerith in AC completely disproves any of that "OMFG DEY WERE GLAD SHE DIED!!!!" nonsense. I mean, why would they honor Aerith's death if they were glad she died???

Naseroth - June 26, 2005 06:17 PM (GMT)
I don't think they were happy, losing was a big thing. If anything, Aeris' death hit the whole team like a low blow.

Anastar - June 26, 2005 10:04 PM (GMT)
IF they do a remake, I'd love for them to get rid of the Date Mechanism and get rid of the optional responses to show us how the creators envisioned the game, especially Cloud's love interest. I doubt that will happen, but I'd love to see it.

I'd also like to see dialogue clarified so that other questions are answered - like: is Sephiroth or Jenova in control? Was the Sephiroth that Cloud's party chased during Disk One a clone, Jenova, or a mental projection from Sephy in the Northern Crater? Who killed President Shinra (was it really Sephy, or Jenova in the form of Sephy)? What happened after the Lifestream met Meteor? Where is the Promised Land? Did Cloud think he was Zack during Disk One? Did Aerith fall in love with Cloud because of Zack? And show us exactly what didn't happen between Cloud and Tifa under the Highwind, so Cloti's will stop claiming they had sex! Again... I doubt it will happen, but I'd love to see it.

If nothing else, use the improved graphics to show us exactly how Cloud and the others responded to Aerith's death so that Cloti's can no longer say that some were happy, and that Cloud didn't cry at her death.

Cloudsgirl - June 26, 2005 11:06 PM (GMT)
Indeed, I'd love a remake, and yeah the dating mechanism has to go too. Cloud loves Aeris, I don't want any doubt shown! If not a kiss, I'd love Cloud to like cup her face, hold her hand, SOMETHING... oh well, there's always that dream!

same battle system,

YES! EXACTLY! SE you've got a PERFECT system there, please don't sucumb to temptation and change it!

Kusari Yarou - June 30, 2005 09:55 AM (GMT)
Gee, I dunno. I had fun with the Date Mechanism...dating Barret
Aerith's death in Ps3 renderings would be very sad to see, though  I hope they don't make her bleed if they do remake it...that would be so morbid!

Rikkulicious - June 30, 2005 10:12 AM (GMT)
I'd like a flipping complete end to the love triangle! :lmao: In giant red letters at the end of the game it says

"CLOUD LOVES _______ AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN FRICKEN DO ABOUT IT."

Kaldea - June 30, 2005 10:52 AM (GMT)
*Waves Single Cloud flag!*

I'd like the theme of "friendship" to stand out more. People are too involved with who loves who when they should just see that maybe people could just be friends and still be happy. It's sad how people think that everyone needs to be paired up with someone.

Carmencita - July 1, 2005 10:37 AM (GMT)
If FF7 were to be remade, well... I don't want it to give away TOO many things regarding who Cloud really loves (I mean, that mystery is one of the factors that made FF7 phenomenal), but I would like some parts of the story that were usually misinterpreted because of the 1997 graphics to be a bit clearer. Hey, maybe today's technology will make the story a little bit clearer without changing too much of the original script. ;)

Anti-R - July 1, 2005 05:05 PM (GMT)
If it does "re-issue" FF7, I think it will be like FF1-6 and Chrono Trigger from the SNES to PS1... so FF7, 1 CD PS3, same stuff, with new FMVs.

And make Yuffie and Vincent non-optional characters. You just HAVE to get them.

And no change dating, Barret and Yuffie were worthy dates... it made the whole game replayeable.

I seriously doubt they would change anything. I think all they would do is remake the FMVs and maybe clean up the grammatical errors in the dialogue. Hopefully in doing so statements like "What are WE going to do" and "No...I want to meet you" would be rewritten in such a way that they more obviously point to Cloud loving Aeris. :cleris:
I would really like to see them get rid of the polygonal characters and replace them with the characters you see in battle. That way they wouldn't really be redoing the characters. I played FFVIII before FFVII, so I've always thought the game would look better that way.

Naseroth - July 1, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
I also found the polygonal characters to be a bit odd, yet entertaining. But what I want most is just the norml game with all errors fixed and with Advent Children graphics in the FMVs.

Kusari Yarou - July 2, 2005 10:14 AM (GMT)
Oh! And I hope that they would somehow incorporate Yuffie and Vincent into the ending FMV. It just wasn't the same without them.

Alan Bates - July 3, 2005 04:50 PM (GMT)
If they did a remake, I'd prefer them to use the graphic style from Kingdom hearts, rather than the super realistic style of Advent Children and the tech demo.

There's a lot to the designs of the FF7 cast that just tend to work right when made extremelty realistic.

cloudnine - July 3, 2005 08:10 PM (GMT)
I think voices would be a good idea...like they did in FFX..that would be cool.

yin-chan - July 4, 2005 03:22 AM (GMT)
Hmm....I didn't really like Yuna's english voice acting in FFX and X-2 though....they made her sound so whiny. :ermm:

I prefer the old school way of reading, especially for FF7. Voice acting during FMVs would be bearable though.... :)

and btw cloudnine, I luv your siggy!!!!! :fangirl:

cloudnine - July 4, 2005 02:43 PM (GMT)
I have to agree with you on Yuna's voice XD

Yeah, CG made my siggie... :fangirl:

FF_Goddess - July 4, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
Actually, I would prefer voice acting throughout in a FFVII remake. I actually liked all of the voice acting in FFX. ^_^ I thought Yuna's voice was very sweet and it fit her character. Of course, the character with the best voice was definitely Auron...

Alan Bates - July 4, 2005 06:50 PM (GMT)
Honestly, I find most voice acting takes away from the experience rather than adding to it. There's less to imagine, so you're taken out of some of the personalizing.

With no voice acting, the person [playing the game decides in their own mind how all the characters talk.

FF_Goddess - July 4, 2005 06:54 PM (GMT)
Nah... I'd rather listen to the voices and the inflections myself rather than reading the bottom of the screen and missing part of the action/people's expressions/etc... :P

yin-chan, I'm with you on that one. :) Yuna's english voice was awful. I disliked her for a while because of it. :(

As much as having voices is nice, I really like reading the text and thinking of the voices in my head. I'm old school too, I guess. That way, I don't have to worry about an annoying voice taking away from a beloved character.

As for a remake of FFVII, well, I'd like to see more scenes where Cloud and Aerith talk to each other openly. I think Square left out a lot of their potential in favor of the over-all story. I'd like to see some additional scenes with them. :) Or at least, allow Cloud to respond on the date. I want to know what he's thinking, too, not just what Aerith's thinking on the Gondola ride.

An extended dream sequence would be really cool, too. I don't want to change FFVII, because I loved it, but I would like extended scenes and new fmvs. I'd rather see Cloud in full cg glory jumping onto that train when he escapes the Shinra soldiers than the bubble Cloud jumping. :P That rather ruins the moment.

As long as we get to see the characters' expressions in key scenes, I'd be happy. Plus, new and improved fmvs would make FFVII even more lovely, in addition to a clearer translation.

Remembers the "Yuffie is cought by surprise" ^^. I'd forgive Japan for its Engrish, but not the American translator...

I hate X Yuna's voice too... she got better by X-2.

Oooh, better yet, add VAs... but the player can switch languages (English and Japanese) like those .hack games.

I wanna hear Maaya Sakamoto as Aerith! Wooot!

Wingless - July 5, 2005 03:09 PM (GMT)
Anti-R, if they had the option of switching dialogue (like La Pucelle Tactics) I would be happy as anything! I love the Japanese voices. :D I was so mad when we didn't have that in the American version of FFX. I adore Tidus's Japanese vocie. And Yuna's Japanese voice is so pretty... The American voices made me sad. But Yuna's voice did improve in X-2, thankfully. :)

The first time I saw that, I thought it was the funniest typo in the game. :P Although, there were a couple that really annoyed me. "This guy are sick", for example. C'mon, at least translate Aerith's lines correctly. <_<

If we could hear the Japanese voices, see their expressions, and see them in full, beautiful, un-bubble-character graphics, I would die and go to heaven on the spot. :) (Although, I must admit a fondness for the bubble characters.) And maybe if they added a few more fmvs; I was always disappointed that most of the graphics in FFVII were wasted on the machines and the buildings. I wanted more of the people, more like FFVIII. Ooo, what if the gondola ride for the Aerith and Cloud date was fmv'd up? Wouldn't that be so cool? (And if it was only their date that was fmv? :P) Or if the dream sequence became an fmv? That would be cool too.

/wishful thinking

Tacofoolio - July 5, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
I'd also like it if they added some more places to go to. It'd be great to give some new things to do, chances more new things to happen, maybe even allowing you to play as different characters, from their point of view! I'd also love to see the mini-games like snowboarding and chocobo racing with the new graphics. I have so many ideas for everything, lol.

Sefie - July 5, 2005 05:45 PM (GMT)
Ooohh, new places would be fun! FFVII's world was so big and we never got a chance to really explore all of it. And I find it odd that there are so few civilizations

Tacofoolio - July 5, 2005 08:01 PM (GMT)
I know! I would love to see what new things they can incorperate, and I especially want to see all of the old stuff in a whole new way. Kinda like being able to play out a movie is how I see it with the new graphics

Anti-R - July 7, 2005 06:03 PM (GMT)
Oh, and expand the towns... especially Icicle Town. Issit me, or Gast's last reports were anticlimatic? True you get to meet Aerith's folks, so to speak but... the characters' lack of reaction with that piece of information considering it concerns their recently departed friend is disappointing. Even Vincent didn't say much on it. :/

I know! You'd think they'd be a little nostalgic and emotional, seeing their dead friend when she was still a baby and had her life ahead of her.
Not to mention that that scene is only an option to view...you can choose not to see it :(

Hyper-Ballad - July 8, 2005 09:29 AM (GMT)
I agree with Kusari and Anti-R - it'd be absolutely wonderful (but very sad) to see the group's reaction to the video, and its emotional effect on them. It'd be a great way to show that Cloud didn't just stroll away from the Forgotten City whistling and pinching Tifa's butt too, if we could see the group in a state of mourning and rememberance afterwards.

Marlene - July 20, 2005 03:21 PM (GMT)

If they make a ramke,I mightof said this beofre, but it could increase the likely hood that they could make a video game where a little someone is brought back.

I would not mind seeing a croos between a realtime action and active time, doubt that would happen though, but you know, its not lie a turned based battle is all that realistic, and is that not what square is going for this time, and they shold at least put more gore, say if its a female zombie, cut its head off,if its a giant, cut it in half.
and make the monsters turn to sand.

Alan Bates - July 20, 2005 05:25 PM (GMT)
FF7:Memories of Aerith, I'd just like to say for the record that I only understand what you're saying about half the time and agree with what I do understand less than half.

Let's leave the gore in Mortal Kombat.

Marlene - July 20, 2005 07:42 PM (GMT)

Just think,FF7 with advent children graphics,Aerith might be hotter, although Tifa would look nothing like the original, maybe they could just make all the other character graphics upgraded, but Tifa is left alone, she looks better in short shorts
and a midress anyway. :woot: .

Although, with Aerith dieing in upgraded graphics, wouldn't that just make it sadder, and have we not had anough mental breakdowns already.

Naseroth - July 24, 2005 09:14 PM (GMT)
I think there will be a remake, mainly because of a reporters confirmation and common sense. First off, usualy when a reporter confirms something, it's confirmed by the company itself. Second of all, why would SE make a whole remake of the opening just for a graphics demonstration? That costs a lot of money! Instead, I think that they just took clips off of the already in progress FFVII remake and added PS3 Tech Demo at the bottom. It makes sense if you think about it. So in my opinion, FFVII for the PS3 is already being made :)

Marlene - July 24, 2005 09:21 PM (GMT)

Maybe if they make 2 endings, then I would not have to worrie about Aerith being revived in the sequel, they can just add this kind of thing to the remake,
another ending to it,or something. If they are making one,I wonder if they are making other add ons, because upgraded graphics does not seem anough to me,
they should make a alternate ending,so that we poeple who want a revival, can have one in the remake.
