Disclaimer: I don’t own Final Fantasy 7. Well, I don’t think I do.

Vincent: No you don’t.

Okay, I don’t.

Slowly she raised her head as he jumped in the way. His red cloak and black hair blowing in the wind. He looked at her one last time with his crimson eyes.

Tears streamed down her face as she ran up to his limp body. He smiled at her with his eyes closed.

“I’ll be okay...” he said weakly. She couldn’t really say anything. “Don’t worry... I’ll always be here...” he said removing a hand from his stab wound to place it on her chest. To him, her hearts beating was precious. To her, it meant nothing if she couldn’t be with him.

He winced in pain as his eyes closed slowly and his chest fell down and didn’t rise again.

“Isis, you space out like that again and it’s your job!” A voice yelled snapping her out of her deep thoughts.

“Sorry Mr. Cooper.” She replied picking up a tray of dishes. She sighed and walked into the kitchen.

The Suit Motel’s Bar had been her home ever since that accident. Her boss had found her alone on a rainy night wandering the streets. That was three years ago. Now Mr. Cooper had become a complete jerk.

After she washed the dishes that she had, Mr. Cooper let her go home early. He said that she needed her rest because of a huge party tomorrow.

Quickly walking to her black Mitsubishi, she heard footsteps. She looked around, but didn’t see anything. Without a second thought, she hopped in, started it and went home.

Once at home, she collapsed onto the couch and turned on the television.

“On today’s news, the body of a twenty-seven year old male was found right outside the Temple of the Ancients...” the news lady said. Isis didn’t hear all of it. She didn’t want to watch. It reminded her of him.

‘He was twenty-seven... he was so young... Why couldn’t I do anything!’ Her thoughts yelled. She ran to the phone and called her friend, Aeris.

“Hey Aeris, can you come over?” She asked into the black receiver of the cordless phone.

“I don’t know. I’m pretty busy here. Hold on.” Aeris sighed. She heard her put down the phone and ask her boss if she could leave early. “Okay I’m back. I’ll be there in a few minutes.” Aeris finally said.

“Okay. Thanks.” Isis said smiling.

“No problem. It’s I that should be thanking you.” Aeris said laughing. Isis laughed back and hung up the phone.

Just as she turned around to walk into her kitchen, a voice rang out.

“Thinking of him again huh? You will be joining him shortly.” It said. Isis looked up at the walls in trance. She didn’t know whose voice it was. In a mode of panic, she ran to her bed and put her knees into her chest.

Knock, knock, knock...

Isis looked up but didn’t move.

'Aeris...’ she thought as she very slowly got off her bed and walked to the door.

Knock, knock, knock

“Who is it?” She voice asked shaking slightly.

“It’s me, Aeris. Isis are you okay?” The voice responded. Isis opened the door quickly and grabbed Aeris by the wrist and pulled her in, shutting the door quickly behind her. “What’s wrong?” Aeris asked.

“A voice... it came to me...” Isis replied. Aeris didn’t say anything, but she did place her hand of Isis’s head.

“Sweetie, you’re running a fever. Here, lie down and I’ll get you a warm rag.” Aeris said helping Isis to her bed.

Isis and Aeris acted more like sisters then friends. Letting each other borrow pieces of clothing for certain events and always gossiping about their crush. Lately, Isis didn’t talk about her crush. Aeris remembered when they were younger, about seventeen; Isis met this wonderful guy. Aeris had never seen him, but she knew that Isis would introduce them when she felt that the time was right, so she just waited. Now Isis was twenty-five and she never talked about him anymore.

“Aeris... nevermind...” Isis said slowly. Aeris looked at her. She was pale and worn out.

“How many hours does that slave driver make you work a week?” Aeris asked.

“This week so far, I’ve work forty-eight hours.” Isis responded.

“But it’s only Tuesday!” Aeris said shocked.

“I know...” Isis responded and closed her eyes drifting into a deep slumber.

When Isis awoke, the sky was dark and the shadows were dancing in her walls. Aeris was gone. She sat up in bed and called her name. Footsteps were heard coming her way. She ducked her head under the blanket.

“You called?” The voice said. She removed her head to see Aeris’ smiling face.

“You’re still here?” She asked.

“Well yeah. I can’t just leave you alone.” Aeris replied smiling. Isis smiled back and closed her eyes.

Chapter 2: Reunion

Disclaimer: I don’t own Final Fantasy 7. Vincent said so. Too bad though. I would make loads of money.

The next morning, Isis woke up and went into her living room. Aeris was gone. She glanced over to the clock above the television.

“7:26 am. She must have gone to work.” Isis said lowly. She flipped on the TV. “Cartoons!” she said laughing and watched them for a minute. “I need to find a new job.” she then said. Suddenly her phone rang. She got up of the sofa and answered it.

“Hello?” she said.

“Hello Isis... How are you?” a male voice said. Isis sighed.

“Better.” she replied.

“Do you remember me at all?” he then asked. Isis thought for a moment.

“Cloud?” she said.

“Yeah. Glad you remember me.” he said laughing.

“It’s nice to talk to you.” he said. “Hey, I was wondering. Can I come over later?” he said. She looked around her apartment.

“Yeah, sure.” she said. Her and Cloud had always been friends. They met when Isis went to Nebelheim to stay the night with Tifa.

“How did you get my number?” she asked.

“I talked to Aeris yesterday. She gave it to me then. She didn’t think that you would mind.” he replied. “Hey, I got to go. I’ll see you ion a little bit.” he said.

“Okay. See you soon.” she said.

“Bye.” he said.

“Bye” she said hanging up the phone.

‘Now why would Cloud want to see me?’ she thought for a moment and stood up. She needed to clean if she planned on having any company.

Around noon, when she was supposed to be at work, her boss called.

“Why aren’t you here? We are short two people and we need you right now.” he said.

“Sorry Mr. Cooper, but I quit.” she said grinning.

“What, you can’t quit!” he yelled.

“Watch me.” she said slamming down the phone and walking back into her room. She changed into some more comfortable clothes. A red tank top and a long pair of black jeans. She looked around her room and sighed.

“I need to clean my room also. And wash clothes.” she said. She walked over to a basket and started putting clothes inside of it and went to her washer. She turned it on and put her clothes inside and then put the detergent in and closed the lid.

“Twenty minutes.” she told herself. It would be exactly twenty minutes until her clothes were done.

Knock, knock, knock

‘Cloud’s here...’ She thought walking to the door. She looked though the peephole just incase and it was him. His smiling face was there.

“Hey Cloud.” she said when she opened the door.

“Hey.” he said.

“Come on in.” she said walking to the refrigerator. He came inside and sat on her sofa. “Do you want anything to drink?” she asked.

“No thanks. What are you watching?” he replied.

“I don’t know. It was on when I walked into the room.” she said laughing a bit. It was quite for a minute.

“Care if I turn it?” he asked. She shook her head.

“I don’t care.” she said thinking.

She was thinking about him again. His crimson eyes, long red cloak. He was so kind to her. He made her happy. Why did he die?

‘You didn’t have to protect me.’ she thought. A few tears escaped her eyes and she quickly wiped them away.

“You okay?” she heard Cloud ask.

“Yeah.” she lied. She really couldn’t stop thinking about him.

£££

“He’s still alive you know.” Cloud said.

“What are you talking about?” Isis asked.

“The person you’re thinking about. Vincent Valentine. He’s still alive. As long as you care for him, he’s still there.” Cloud said.

“No he’s not. He died saving me. It was my fault. He’s dead and he isn’t coming back.” she said. Cloud placed a finger under her chin and lifted her head.

“Yes he is. Just believe.” he said and left.

‘Thank you Cloud...’ she thought as she watched him walk away. She blinked and he looked almost like Vincent. Only for a moment. She turned to go back inside and to shut her door. When she looked inside, he was there.

“Vincent...?” she said lowly. The figure nodded.

“Isis, I will always be here. I’m watching over you. Please be happy again. Be the Isis I used to know.” it said. It walked up to her and placed a hand on her heart. “Remember to smile...” he said and disappeared. Tears started filling her eyes again and she cried. Thinking of him. Remembering to smile, remembering to live. He was always there with her, no matter what.

TWO YEARS LATER

Isis was now twenty-seven. Her life wasn’t all that bad. She was remembering to smile and everything that the ghost of Vincent had told her that day.

She decided that she needed a vacation. She went to The Temple of the Ancients and prayed for a while. After that, she went to the lake right outside.

“Vincent, I love you. If only you could hear me. I never got the chance to tell you. Now... I can’t.” she said. She soon felt a presence near her. She looked behind her and smiled. A figure was there. She squinted and saw the faint image of a dark red cloak. She stood up and ran to it. She ran into a solid man.

“Excuse me.” he said. It was his voice! The man looked down at her. “Isis?” he asked.

“Vincent?” she asked smiling.

“Yeah, it’s me.” he said. She threw her arms around him and smiled. He hugged her tightly and smiled. It was one of the first smiles that he had done in about three months.

“Isis... I love you too...” Vincent said as Isis went to sleep that night. He was right beside her. He didn’t want to be anywhere else. His life was a living hell, but now he had a reason to live.

I am shocked that no one has commented on this. This story is one of the best that I have read in a while. Considering I've been sleeping in a coffin for 50+ years. *thinks* One sin down...
