Description: The Nobuo Uematsu Fanclub

Anastar - April 12, 2005 11:52 PM (GMT)
I just realized there's no fanclub for Uematsu and his music! Uematsu's a terrific guy, and his music is fantastic. I love the concerts that he's doing in the States now, and I'm hoping that a concert happens near where I live! This is a fanclub everyone who loves Nobuo Uematsu and his music like I do.

I wanna join.

Andina - April 13, 2005 12:14 AM (GMT)
I'm not much into these fanclubs, but if there's one person that deserves a fanclub it's Nobuo, the great master himself. ^_^

The music he has composed (and hopefully still will compose in the future) for Final Fantasy games is lightyears ahead of what we hear in most other games. He is just so good. From heart touching melodies to some extremely funky tunes, he can do it all and that is why we love him so. :)

*goes to camp outside Nobuo's house* :P

Welcome to the club, Toxo! :D

Everyone - what are your favorite songs by Uematsu? I know it's hard to narrow it down, so you can name more than one. Aerith's Theme and Zanarkand are probably my favorites, although I love many others. It's so hard to choose!

Real_Emotion - April 14, 2005 07:55 PM (GMT)
I wanna join too! I love his music, they're so beautiful. My favorites has to be Aeris's Theme, One winged angel, and Liberi.

Buhon - April 14, 2005 09:45 PM (GMT)
Some Uematsu songs that stick out in my mind are (pardon me if I don't get the titles right):

climbing Mt. Gagazet (FFX)

One-winged Angel (FF7)

Lifestream (the scene in Buggenhagen's lab) (FF7)

Main theme (FF7)

Main theme (FF9)

and, of course, Aerith's theme (and Flowers Blooming in the Church)

Materia Thief - April 14, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
The ones that I truly love...that IS really hard!

But let's see-

Aerith's Theme (VII)
One-Winged Angel (VII)
Succession of Witches (VIII)
Waltz for the Moon (VIII)
You're Not Alone! (IX)
Sight of Spira (X)
To Zanarkand (X)
Someday the Dream Will End (X)

Cloud Gainsborough - April 15, 2005 05:08 AM (GMT)
How the hell did I miss this? SIGN ME UP!

Some favorites:

Aria de Mezzo Carattere (III/VI) [I swear to god, this is what Aerith's theme is based off of...]

Aerith's Theme (VII)

One Winged Angel (VII)

Seymour Flux's Theme [what's it called?] (X)

1000 no Kotoba (X-2 international)

And Nobuo Uematsu's greatest song ever (you'll probably see this coming)...

Otherworld (X)

It seems that Uematsu can do a LOT of types of music. We have a range of pop to symphonic to metal. Daaaaaaamn........

Anastar - April 15, 2005 02:35 PM (GMT)
I'll put you on the member's list right now, Cloud G. Welcome to the club! :D

I love all of those, too, Hyper!! It's very hard to pick favorites, but if I was only allowed to pick two songs to hear at a "Dear Friends" concert, I'd have to say Aerith's Theme and To Zanarkand. I love too many to list from FFVII, but I think Terra's Theme and Forever Rachel are my favorites from FFVI.

Some songs that never get mentioned that I love are On the Other Side of the Mountain from FFVII and Only a Plank Between One and Perdition from FFVIII.

Hahaha, I think a better question for Hyper would be... what Nomura songs DON'T you like?

You mean "what UEMATSU song's DON'T you like?" right, Buhon? :P Remember: Nomura = Characters, Uematsu = Music.

Buhon's just obssessed with Nomura, like the rest of us are. Since Seii jealously chains Nomura to her side, I think I'll obssess over Uematsu now.

Hehe Buhon; you might've made me feel embrassed back there, but thanks to Seii's teasing, I feel just fiiine...

And in answer to your question: Blue Fields. ^_^

Doh!!! I knew it was only a matter of time before I made that fatal mistake. I know they're two different people, but I get the names switched around all the time. Touche, Seii, touche...

Hehehe, sorry Hyper, was not my intention to embarrass... but, of course, I'm the one with egg on my face :P

Hmm... Blue Fields... isn't that the overworld theme from FF9?

It's alright, Buhon! ^_^ I know I picked a lot...but I really am crazy about all those tracks, though. ::wipes egg off your face::

You're almost right; Blue Fields is in fact the overworld theme from FFVIII. Actually, I found a lot of the tracks in FFVIII to be quite underwhelming - most of the background/town/minor-location themes actually did nothing for me at all, but they did make the pieces that were fantastic stand out all the more, and that was great. So I suppose with FFVIII I found many of the tracks less-than-great, but the ones that were great...wow... ::awe::

To bring up something else, I absolutely love the Chrono Trigger soundtrack too!

Ahhh, yes, I will agree then - the overwolrd theme for FFVIII was quite... underwhelming. Though, to be honest, I found FFVIII to be underwhelming in general... the rest of the FF's have been great.

Good call about Chrono Trigger. I'm a big fan of the music from that as well... and I'm pleasantly thrilled to learn that Uematsu composed it as well (I was not aware).

*browses over the "free love" pamphlet* I don't recall this being part of the deal when I first signed up for this club

Yes, I agree with you. While I thought FFVIII had a lot of good things going for it (the sorceresses, Ellone and the Laguna subplot...), it didn't really engage me, which left me dissapointed with it as a whole, and it's probably my least favourite FF game. But this might be to do with its failure to top VII and that it wasn't exactly the quantum leap everyone was expecting it to be. :ermm:

Does everyone know this website? Andina gave it in another thread on Uematsu: Uematsu's Music

It's a site by SE on Uematsu, and it talks about his concert tours, gives a short bio, and a section where you can ask questions that he answers. (We should ask him why Aerith's theme isn't being used in AC!!) It's pretty small, but there's lots about him. Andina gave us the link in this thread: Uematsu - Past, Present, and Future.
