I am, personally, a Rufus/Tifa fan, and I've come to meet some people who look at me strangely for even mentioning it. :rolleyes: Other than that, I also like Zack/Yuffie, Reno/Elena, and Sephiroth/"Female-turk-who-looks-like-Lucrecia", and Lulu/Auron (oh, sadness), and Ansem/Malefecent (hahah!) and, just for the fun of it, Sabin/Rachel (can anyone beat that? HUH?!)

I have recently 'converted' to Rufus and Tifa. It all started when I found a fanart of them and my brother pointed at it and said "Uy bagay sila! "("Hey, they look good together!")Then I thought “Hey yeah…” and started looking for Tifa/Rufus sites(is Stigmatized the only Tifa/Rufus site out there?), fics, fanarts, you name it. ^_^
I also liked Vincent/Yuffie for a while but got tired of how fanfic writers always turned OOC. Now I just read humor-romance fics about them...less chance of Yuffie morphing into a wailing, crying sap :sad:
In FF8, I read this fanfic where Quistis and Seifer had some chemistry going on and tried looking for other fics involving the couple. Unfortunately, there are very few quality fics about them….most are fluffy angstfests or teacher/student smut. Sighhh.
In FFT, I always thought the protagonist, Ramza, was sorely lacking a love interest even though he'd make a perfect 'romantic hero' So I started shipping Ramza/Agrias, even if she's 5 years older than he is. The fics about them are really quite beautiful. ;)

It's not a pairing I really have much against (except "Sanguine Depths", ugh), but it isn't a pairing I support very much either, probably because I don't have a very good understanding of it. I'd love to hear you tell me what you love about the RufusxTifa pairing, what you think the relationship would be like, why you believe they're compatible, why they'd be good for one another and make each other happy and why you think their feelings would be strong enough to overcome the past. I love hearing people talk about pairings they love, so I'm all ears, and very eager to hear your opinion! Convert me! ^_^

This pairing I just found...interesting. I think the thing that first attracted me to it were two people who I knew (and still know) that mirror the characters EXACTLY. The girl that resembles Tifa was even in an erm..."interesting" love triangle, with a guy she liked and a girl who she was pretty close friends with. :ermm: ANYWAY, when these two met, they hated each other immediately, but they just couldn't forget about the first impression given. It was so very odd (and yes, they are together. They've been together for quite a few years now and are very happy ^_^). :lol:

Here's one of my reasons-
1. Tifa, as she's watching the chopper descend to the President's office says a line. Something akin to, "I wonder what sort of person he is... " (I can't quite remember the exact quote, I'll look it up later.). Knowing how much Tifa HATES Shinra and all it's done to her and the rest of the people of the slums, it's interesting how come she still wonders what the person inside Rufus is like. I'm sure she's heard many rumors about Rufus, but she still tries to consider the person behind the facade. This might just be what Tifa does for everyone, but considering the stereotyping she might've done for everything Shinra (which is rather justified actually. ^^;;;;), there's always the chance that she sees him 'different' from all the others.

I'll provide more later. ^_^ I'm sure Zhakeena or Tifa Lockheart can post much better reasonings then mine however. They even own the fansite 'Stigmatized'. ^_^

And, so far, methinks we're the only Rufus/Tifa fansite owners thus far, although there are quite a number of Rufus/Tifa writers and doujinshii artists out there (at least, I've been told). We're even planning to have an official fanlisting of some sorts; if only we know how exactly to go about it! :lol:

Ah! Explanation! :D Well, I'm not very organized right now, so forgive me...
Well, obviously, I liked Cloud/Aerith from the start but I felt bad that Tifa is pretty much alone in the game. I tried reading Cloti, but I really can't enjoy it! There are many interesting males in the game, I know, but none of them fit with Tifa very well.

Now, Rufus is a character that caught my interest even before I played the game. I've heard of the concept of Rufus/Reno even though I didn't have an idea who they were. I kind of thought that Rufus is an old business man type. :lol: Imagine my surprise when I saw him first time in the game! He wasn't an old man at all, but rather, like Seifer Almasy of FF8. I mean, the hair-flip and everything...

Then one day, Tifa Lockheart (my cousin, I mean) suddenly blurts out, "Hey, Rufus and Tifa look good together!"

Tifa reminded me very much of Quistis Trepe emotionally. And Rufus is this Seifer type who is probably more arrogant than your average.... and Rufus is the so-called villain, which made things more interesting! Gears in my brain started to tick. As I got to know their characters better--you know, Tifa, who is sort of an emotional wreck, and Rufus who feels no emotion at all--I started to think that hey, maybe they'd be good together! Ah, if only it were possible.... :P

I don't have a say about the past, though. At the beginning, Tifa hated ShinRa in general and not Rufus as an individual. But I don't know what to say about the Execution thing, except that Rufus didn't intend it to be personal; he did that because Tifa was from AVALANCHE, and he was the leader of ShinRa. (Ah, the conflict of two people's union separated by two worlds. I love stories involving that)

I got more reasons and major speculations of possibilities of 'them' from the game, but I can't think of all of them right now.

Oh, but this is a good one that Materia Thief mentioned! ^_^

I love Ramza and I always thought it was a shame that a such noble, selfless character like him never had a love interest. :ermm: So I'm partial towards Ramza/Agrias, but any romance fic with Ramza in it is usually good(erm, as long as its not incest or a plotless hump-fest with Delita <_< )

Quistis/Seifer intrigued me because of their opposing personalities... Seifer is so arrogant, Quistis is so reserved outside but somewhat emotionally confused inside. I always thought that Quistis is perfectly capable of reining in Seifer's arrogant attitude and stuff like that...flangst, flangst, flangst ;)

Aeris/Tifa has long been a much-loved favourite of mine - I normally don't go anywhere near slash-pairings and most yuri pairings seem to be excuses for hentai, but this is a coupling that really interests me, and that I think could work well. This is a pairing that I can actually see happening (sort-of), and that both girls are very compatable, and compliment each other beautifully by being strong where the other is weak. I imagine that if these two hooked up, they'd have a very healthy, happy and beautiful relationship. And yes, it would be very, very sexy. :whistle:

I think what I meant with my comment on the yuri/shoujo-ai aspect, was that most of the time, if there was an Aeris/Tifa relationshp, most people (a.k.a. perverted fanboys) would probably interpret the relationship as well, equivalent, to pornography. While I have seen well written shounen-ai stories, I've seen only about one or two well written shoujo-ai stories that portrayed the romance instead of mindless sex.

They do make interesting counterparts though. And yes, the reaction of Cloud would be priceless. :lol:
