JordonJ and Ludo are doing this review together...

They agree on most FS stuff but their discussions of hockey can get a little...heated.
Right then...gettting started...
By the way...is it me or does the pilot of the Beaver look like Bill Clinton?
He does look like Bill lol
I wonder who was under the yoke
hahahaha lolololHa ha! That is SOoooo going into the review!
So Ludo and I are reviewing Freight Dogs by Aerosoft.
Yes we areFreight dogs is a package that includes a mini-version of Misty Fjords, a Tundra and Amphibious Beaver, and the wheeled Beech 18.

And let's not forget FSCargo!
It also includes two liveries for each aircraft. And yes, a scaled-down version of FSCargo.
As the included manual says Freight Dogs is the term used by the aviation industry when reffering to aviation cargo pilots.
A word about the manual...it's very well-written too!
Through this astounding package an average simmer learns the challenges and pleasures of being a cargo pilot in such a remote area. And the terrain poses its own unique challenges!

Especially tricky is Telegraph Creek!
It definitely puts your flying skills to the test, but with FSCargo it also lets you put your hard work to use.
Keeping to a strict time limit, navigating your way through narrow valleys, and clearing mountaintops will be a perpetual challenge.
As shown here in Moose Bar...a difficult airport to reach because of its placement.
But not to the point of crashing! Remember! You are penalized big-time for crashing! And if you crash, you can't really deliver the cargo!
Therefore a good solid understanding of your aircraft, your instruments, and the surrounding lanscape is key to the success of your flight. The depth that FSCargo adds almost turns FS into a sort of RPG!
We could interpret it that way, but I am most impressed with the realism it adds to your simulator, as well as the smooth integration into the simulator.

Yes, it is incredibly easy to use! Another thing...before people are scared off by the term "scaled down".

The main difference between the Freight Dog version of FSCargo and the Full version is that there is no editor to create FSCargo areas. You CAN add areas that others have created! Go to
this page
For example, I found an area that created routes in Northern Michigan...including KTVC (my home airport!)
I was also surprised by how vast the FSCargo program included is, and if you really like the FSCargo program why not buy it as it costs less than $30 Canadian! Some of us must watch our pennies though. Another thing to talk about...you get 6 great airports.

Shorty's Farm is lit by Barrels of fire (and the smoke helps tell the wind direction).
Very true, these are very small which allows an extensive amount of detail to be put into it.And, like many of Aerosoft's products, are easy on the FPS!
I was very impressed with the terrain around it and the buildings included. The textures have been beautifully rendered, the models are absolutely perfect, and there is a lot of eye candy included!

Now, I have neither Misty Fjords, the Beaver, the Aerosoft Beech18, or FSCargo. This makes it a sweet package for me. You on the other hand have Misty Fjords, the Beaver, the Beech 18...so how did you feel about the package that covered most of the stuff you already had?
Despite the fact that I already had those three products, my main reason for getting Freight Dogs was the 6 airports included. I look at the mini Misty Fjords, the Beaver, the Beech 18, and FSCargo as just add-ins to a sweet package. We have in the past seen airports of roughly the same size, and lesser quality sold for the same price as Freight Dogs without all of the extras.
Very true! Also, a discount was applied for anyone who had
any of the existing products! It was an issue that Aerosoft was quick to address on their forum!
Speaking of the forum...I should mention that it's easy to get support there...they are prompt about responding to questions. Peter McCleland and I had a problem with Shorty's Farm looking like an aircraft carrier. They told us how to fix the problem!
I have had tremendous professional relationships with people from the Aerosoft Administration and have always been treated courteous and always received the support I required.Which makes a point: the biggest part of the product is support!
As is a standard of any Aerosoft product this package was incredibly easy to install. The instructions are straightforward, and easy to understand!
The manual effectively outlines the airports, and how to use Freight Dogs. As you stated you had a few minor issues with this package, but I was able to use this scenery and haven't found any glitches in my scenery. The problem actually turned out to be a conflict with Glacier Park (by Holger Sandmann). In Peter's case, a file was not disabled by a batch file. Once he disabled the proper file, and I uninstalled Glacier Park, things were fine!
I am using Flight1's Ultimate Terrain Canada/Alaska with Freight Dogs, and am not having any compatibility issuesSo, in the end, what else is there to say? Great package. Great scenery. Nice planes to go along with it. You can add areas that others created. And can choose different planes as well.
This package is completely different from anything we've seen published by Aerosoft before. Before the focus was put around major international airports, and airliners but now we see a product developed for the bushflyer in all of us.Two thumbs up!
9 out of 10!If you ever fancied yourself a bush flyer....don't miss this package!
