April 2009 Unedited Screenshot Contest Winners

It's no secret that I've had my eye on this package since it came out last December. I finally got it last week, and been playing with it. It is one sweet package!

First things first. Check the oil.



Check the oil.



The Super Cub burns oil as it flies. Did I say check the oil? This is a really cool feature that brings immersion all that much closer!

Now for the "Piper Dance"...wriggling into the cockpit.





I took off in the Tundra Tires...one of several models you get with this package!





The Narco Avionics NAV 122D! This little gem is one of my favorite instruments. It's a VOR/LOC/Glideslope and receiver all in one!



Handy for those foggy areas!



It has a Float Model (shown with the Freeware Alaska Trophy Tours Scenery...probably not compatible with Misty Fjords )



When water taxiing, you must mind the attitude...



The other thing is wait until you're going about oh...40 MPH or so, then drop the flaps. They're not motorized so they move as fast as you can pull the handle. By dropping them quickly, the plane literally jumps into the air.











An Amphibious model is also included (be sure to land lightly!)



A wheel-ski version also comes, along with a more powerful engine and four-bladed prop (Shown with the Freeware Stamar Ice Base Scenery Package.)

The snow effect is something I added...find it at Flightsim!



Also a ski-only model...



There's also the roomier L-21 fuselage





And a "simple panel", for those who feel that VOR is too simple!



The model is great on the FPS! Fly it, and see why it's so often restored (as one is being restored by our local college NMC). It's not nostalgia, it's because this is one nice flying machine. It loves to fly, and show what it can do!

Awesome pictures of the Super Cub jordonj, it looks like a very well detailed plane that fly's very well . How much did you pay for the Super Cub? How are the flight dynamics?

That VC looks exessivly dark...

It's about $31 USD. The thing is a dream to fly and is great on the FPS! The fun part is dropping the flaps on takeoff!

Remember that screenshots often are darker than in the game. The windows are tinted green against the sun (you can replace the texture if you'd rather not have the tint).

A couple of other things I should mention! It may not look quite as pretty as Carenado's work, but there's a lot of little details that make the difference! Such as a cable that goes up and down to the side of you as you raise/lower the water rudders. The wheel-ski has skiis that can go up and down as well!

Nice review jordonj, it's like you said, it's not the quality that sets it apart but the extras and special features that come with it.
