I just thought I would review my latest purchase (Including some shots taken by me) smile.gif

Captain Sim are famous for producing very high quality flight simulator addons, most notably including the Boeing 727, and the F-104 starfighter. One of their newest addons is the Legendary Boeing 707, but does it live up to the hype?

2D Cockpit:
The 2D cockpit quality is superb, the gauges being crisp and clear, meaning it is easy to see. It looks like the real aircrafts cockpit. The set includes the flight engineers panel, and the Captains overhead panel. When flying at nightime, I had no quibble with the lighting, it was suitable for me:

Virtual Cockpit:
One of the plus sides of this model is the accurately designed virtual cockpit, mirroring the real thing! If you like to fly like the real deal, you can, virtually every button is clickable so flight can be achieved from the VC. The frames where suitable on my modest system(See Sig), with every setting on high, which I was suprised as I was expecting a VC as detailed as this to slow it down, but nope. Lighting during night flights is superb, I had no problems with it during the night:

External Model:
This is the models strongpoint, the external model. Accurately detailed, I was amazed by the amount of detail and effort put into it. You can see the rivets individually painted on, with plenty of shine making it more realistic. Everything, from the engines to the nose, are accurately designed, looking like the real thing. There have been complaints of FPS loss with this model; I found none. Even the windshield wipers work perfectly, and you can even open the pilots' window! You can also dump fuel, with it shown as a visual effect, and the engines let out a lot of black smoke when at full throttle. It needs a hefty system to run it on, I'm suprised I get no visible slowdown on my system, even though it does meet the recommended specs and it's important to actually have a decent system to run it flawlessly. Included are several models and paint schemes, which are all very high quality, as they should be for top notch payware.:

Sound:
I have to admit that I have never heard a real B707's engines, and I am not sure whether the sounds are the real thing, but they certainly seem convincing they are. When increasing thrust the engines emit a fantastic loud roar, and when decreasing thrust the engines naturally whine suitably. The audible warnings in the cockpit, which I have heard before numerous times are loud and clear. Each aircraft function has a sound; You can hear the landing gear dropping, and the flaps.

Miscellaneous:
Installation was simple, you are given a download link after ordering via email, with a code which is only specific to you, which you need to enter when installing the aircraft, thus requiring that you are connected to the internet upon installation.
You get several manuals with the aircraft, as PDF files and I recommend you read them all fully if you want to operate the aircraft realistically. Also included is TCE, which includes an option to select different weight and loadout options per model, and also crew nationality to use the cabin crew and captain sounds, and to also install more textures downloaded from the internet.

Overall
This is a great purchase from Captain Sim, and it continues the standard which Captain Sim have set in their past releases, and also raises the bar which they set.
I would througholy recommend this for old era jet aviation buffs, it's certainly piqued my interest in it. I recommend it, and I rate it a 9/10.

Well, I hope you have enjoyed my review, it's my first review so please comment with any criticism, comments or anything etc etc. Thanks for viewing and I hope to buy the Legenday B727 soon! biggrin.gif

A fine review, Stephen, thanks! cool.gif The CS 707 is on my purchase list as soon as
this simpi gets a computer that will run it decently & with acceptable performance.

Have loved the old 707s/KC-135s & have flown in quite a few of them in real life. Each &
every one was a good experience. smile.gif Am most appreciative of you thorough review, guy!
