Title: Riddles (Logic)
Description: Something to pass the time

Xenophon - March 15, 2005 07:18 PM (GMT)
Reading Mordhaks post about applying for the position of general, and who the member needs to answer a riddle sparked my interest.

I thought it would be fun to have a topic dedicated to riddles.

---You can, I guess, google these riddles but that would be lame, so try and figure out the answer by your self---

1. Al has six pairs of Green gloves and six pairs of Red gloves in his drawer. In complete darkness, how many gloves must he take from the drawer in order to be sure to get a pair that match?

2. If there are 5 apples on the table and you take away 3, how many do you have?

3. What starts with "e" ends with "e" and contains only one letter?

4. What can be measured, but has no length, width or height?

5. What can't you see that is always before you?

Have Fun :woot

Edit- I made the dashes numbers for easy referance.

Here are a few more to bake your noodle.

6. Mordhak's mother had three children. The first child was named April. The second child was named May. What was the third child's name?

7. What English word can have 4 of its 5 letters removed and still retain it's original pronunciation?

Icespy - March 15, 2005 07:27 PM (GMT)
EDIT: Removed answers

Mordhak - March 15, 2005 07:48 PM (GMT)
Thanks, Xeno. We'll amuse ourselves for some time to come, I am sure.

I will post more myself later. Let me know if my answers were correct.

Xenophon - March 15, 2005 08:17 PM (GMT)
You know what, it would be better to pm me instead. That way other people get a chance to answer. Good luck!

Edit- If you guys have some riddle you would like to share then do so, I wouldn't mind trying to answer some. Just try and follow the numbering scheme :)

7. Mordhak.

I will post some new riddles later for those that have done this already.

Congrats winners, I'll have to look for some tougher ones now.

Kaso - March 16, 2005 12:20 AM (GMT)
Can I give myself a pat from you as well, Xeno? :D

Riddles Part 2.

In light to the fact that all the riddles where answered in less than a day I went out and search for some that required a good deal of thinking :o

Have fun ;)

8. How many letters are in the alphabet?

9. Lhorkan has 7 children, half of them are girls. How can this be possible?
(hint: He didn't chop up one :P )

10. EeSang and his hired help Wenis were carrying wheat to the barn. EeSang carried one sack of wheat and the Wenis carried two sacks. Who carried the heavier load and why?

11. How many times can you subtract the number 5 from 25?

Now comes the hard ones (put on your thinking caps )

12. Kaso is a very rich man, unfortunatly his son (Capo) was kidnapped. The ransom note told him to bring a valuable Ruby the out-house in the middle of the city. In rags the townwatch surrounded the city (edited from park  ), intending to follow the bastard or his pay hand. Kaso arrived at the out-house and followed instructions, but the townwatch were powerless to prevent the Ruby from leaving the city and reaching the crafty villain. What did he do?

(Have fun trying to figure this one out... and no there was no ambush or attack, and in fact something like this happened in real life, I just jazzed it up)

(Hint: The key to this riddle is the instructions and how they got there...)

13. You have 9 swords. 8 of which are of the same weight. The ninth is slightly heavier then the rest. You also have a balancing scale. Can you use this scale two times and only two times in order to tell which sword is heavier?

(Hint: Break them up into groups)

14. Worst Nightmare and Honduras, two popular guildmembers, met at the tavern to discuss the overthrow of Xenophon. They each ordered a vodka on the rocks. Honduras downed his and ordered another. He then drank his second in a gulp and decided to wait before he ordered a third. Meanwhile, Worst Nightmare, who was sipping his drink like a penny pincher, suddenly fell forward dead. Both men were setup for an assassination. Why did Nightmare die and Honduras live?

(hint- Worst Nightmare didn't die of natural reasons)

15. While playing with a Goose's wedding ring, Icespy accidently pushed it on his finger too far and couldn't get it off. Trying to remove it using soap and water didn't work. The clinic sent him to a blacksmith thinking they could cut the metal. Since the ring was made with a specially hardened steel, it couldn't be cut. Just then Xeno arrived on the scene and suggested an easy way to remove the wedding Ring in just a few minutes. What was his solution?

(Hint- Think of blood and how it moves in the body)

These last few ones require a small paragraph (at least 3 or 4 sentences to answer)

Xenophon - March 16, 2005 12:56 AM (GMT)
Currently those that have answered riddles 8-15 first are:

8. Kaso.
9. Lhorkan.
10. Kaso.
11. Kaso.
12. Kaso, It took me two days to figure that one out :sensei .
13. No one.
14. No one.
15. No one.

This will be updated annually.

Icespy - March 16, 2005 01:12 AM (GMT)
For number 8 which alphabet are you speaking of?

I see...I'm the moron who gets his finger stuck on the ring and xeno is the one with the brilliant solution... I would just keep the ring :D

I'm sure goose's sword has a different opinion about you keeping the wedding ring.

Thanks, for killing me and all. OF course honduras gets to drink happily but nightmare gets f*cked.

Xenophon - March 16, 2005 06:00 AM (GMT)

Guest - March 16, 2005 08:03 AM (GMT)
alright heres a couple of thinkers,

frankie and freddie are found dead in a room surrounded by glass and water
how did they die?
(hint they died of natural causes )

wang chong goes to work every day, he lives on the 14 floor, gets on the elevator goes to ground level egts in his car and goes to work. wang comes beach to the apartment building gets in the elevator goes to the 10th floor gets out and jogs the rest of the way why did he do this?
(hint he didnt want to jog)

Lhorkan - March 16, 2005 12:19 PM (GMT)
"A" Lhorkan? You mean, "The Great Lhorkan". That would fit better.

The first new riddles are real easy. I'll take a look at the other ones later.

Edit (Xeno)- I fixed the Riddle Lhorkan, I was originally going to have it as "A father", whoops.

Xenophon - March 16, 2005 11:09 PM (GMT)
I believe I got the two riddles.

***Spoilers***

1. A) Freddie and Frankie are fish that weren't feed.
or Freddie and Frankie where childern who couldn't swim and drowned in an aquarium.

2. Because the elevator only goes to the 10th floor, so he has to jog the rest of the way. (It never said 'on the 14 floor Wang Chong gets on the elevator') Hey guest could you come back and tell me if I'm right?

wOrSt NiGhTmAre - March 17, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
Xeno just knows he right and wants re-assurance :P

Xenophon - March 17, 2005 04:40 AM (GMT)
Haha, you know it ;)

Guest - March 17, 2005 07:41 AM (GMT)
hmm the first one is right, freddie and frankie were fish that were in the aquarium when it broke they drowned....naturually.

the second one is wrong, sorry i didnt say that but it does have 14 buttons so i will give you one more guess before i give the answer

Guest - March 17, 2005 07:42 AM (GMT)
btw im beansotorix, to lazy to login sorry about that.

Xenophon - March 17, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
Hey beans,
1. My answers are close enough, to it I suppose. (I knew it had to do with fish and drowning.)

2. Interesting, I think I know now, Wang lives on the tenth floor above ground, the other four floors are below ground level (maybe like this, laudry floor, pool and sauna, parking lot 1, parking lot2 (where wangs car is).

Guest - March 18, 2005 01:58 AM (GMT)
hah fooled you xeno, all floors were above ground, wang was a midget! he couldnt reach any button abouve the tenth so he had to walk the rest of the way.

Icespy - March 18, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
The absurdity of the situation made me shoot lager out my nose, which really freaking stings.

Xenophon - March 18, 2005 07:50 AM (GMT)
haha, nice one beans. I never thought of that. Do you have anymore you wish to share? Or try your hand at some of the ones I posted... just pm me the answer instead of posting here.

beansotorix - March 19, 2005 02:16 AM (GMT)
i mite find some, nice job xeno, 90% of those confounded me! espically the one about the kidnapping but the apples and the table one was easy.
