Title: Mentors
Mordhak - March 5, 2005 09:48 AM (GMT)
The Brotherless guild has been officially founded as a faction where recruits are trained under the watchful eye of a mentor, with the eventual graduation into the Elite.
All those full members that volunteer to become a mentor in-game are to post their names here. I'll update the following list when more volunteers come along.
Current volunteering mentors:
Zelda12: GMT+1
Mordhak: GMT+1
Honduras: GMT+1
TB666: GMT+1
Lhorkan: GMT+1
Capo of Arabia: GMT -5
Honduras - March 5, 2005 10:38 AM (GMT)
TB666 - March 5, 2005 10:40 AM (GMT)
Sure, sounds like fun.
Sign me up.
Mordhak - March 5, 2005 10:48 AM (GMT)
Very well. You have been enlisted.
Lhorkan - March 5, 2005 11:29 AM (GMT)
Mordhak - March 5, 2005 11:47 AM (GMT)
I'll sign you up as my personal apprentice, if that's what you're applying for :P
al_ - March 5, 2005 02:16 PM (GMT)
No thanks, I don't believe I could fulfill the role suitably. But the people who have agreed should put their likely occupation next to their name.
zelda12 - March 5, 2005 03:19 PM (GMT)
Well I'll be an archer/smith.
Mordhak - March 5, 2005 03:58 PM (GMT)
I'll pretend as if I didn't hear that comment, zelda.

Please read what this thread is about before you say you want to be an archer.

I was reply to Al. If you need to delete what I have said.
Cpt.Wenis - March 5, 2005 07:04 PM (GMT)
I don't want to volunteer, but it is a good idea.

Are the current five mentors going to train their apprentice(s) in any area necessary, to the best of their ability. Or for example, will Lhorkan train his apprentice(s) in fields relating to his abilities. Also mentors should state their GMT next to their name as this may disrupt mentoring if timezones are largly out of sync.
Mordhak - March 6, 2005 01:06 PM (GMT)
You're right, Al. I'll take care of it immediatly.
Looks like there's not much variation in the timezones. We need someone a couple of West-Coasters to balance it.
Adam - March 6, 2005 05:33 PM (GMT)
Could people from Fulk and Etruia also participate in this program?
Mordhak - March 6, 2005 06:06 PM (GMT)
Capo of Arabia - March 6, 2005 07:32 PM (GMT)
Forgot I volenteered when the idea first came up?
Mordhak - March 6, 2005 07:40 PM (GMT)
Yes. But you're enlisted nontheless.
Xenophon - March 7, 2005 12:28 AM (GMT)
Adam, let me put it this way... NO. Holy crap man, this is our guild and our members.... Can we be mentors to your potential members???
Anyways, if no west coasters sign up then ill help out. Unfortunatly i don't have alot of time to spend right now, but during the summer i should have lots of time.
Anyone else on the coast want to help out as well?

Actually I wouldn't mind it, we are allies after all, and I trust you guys.
Xenophon - March 7, 2005 02:02 AM (GMT)
Na, I was just being a jerk (stressfull day). I'm sure we can help each other out in many ways, but lets leave the recruits of each other guild alone. Anyways, I'm sure you guys will have your hands full with your own.
wOrSt NiGhTmAre - March 9, 2005 03:44 AM (GMT)
If you need someone from the west coast i suppose i could take on the job
Goose21 - March 10, 2005 01:26 AM (GMT)
I am always willing to help out Xeno, not sure if I will have enough time though. Right now I am tied up with school and during the summer i will be in football workouts and doing a couple construction jobs.($$$$$$$)
Xenophon - March 10, 2005 01:54 AM (GMT)
Thanks Goose. As for you being busy right now, well, its not like we have any people in the brotherless so I don't think it is an issue.
wOrSt NiGhTmAre - March 10, 2005 04:00 AM (GMT)
Wont it depend on the recruits time zones also?
Xenophon - March 10, 2005 05:59 AM (GMT)
Yes, thats why I asked for some one on the west coast to help out. West Coast (America, Canada) and Belguim are almost half way around the world so I don't we definatly needed anyone else between those timezones (though, your more than welcome to volunteer anyways)
Lhorkan - March 10, 2005 04:20 PM (GMT)
I'd simply say everyone has apprentices of his timezone, or surely near his timezone, so there won't be any time related issues.
wOrSt NiGhTmAre - March 11, 2005 08:29 PM (GMT)
I agree, mentors should only have apprentices that are in the same time zone (or close enough)
Cpt.Wenis - March 12, 2005 07:03 PM (GMT)
It would help, to have close timezones.
Icespy - March 13, 2005 01:18 AM (GMT)
Instead of looking at timezones, look at times played...I used to work nightshifts in the summer and was on after I got off work which was 5-9 a.m. hardly times that most people would get on in my timezone.
Cpt.Wenis - March 13, 2005 01:56 AM (GMT)
Times played may be to inconsistant to base on. Timezones would be ideal as a starter, and if someone always plays at a certain time, we'll work around that.
wOrSt NiGhTmAre - March 13, 2005 04:58 AM (GMT)
Thats true but the times people play may end up working with the time zones/time played of others
Lhorkan - March 13, 2005 09:35 AM (GMT)
I'd say, you just meet someone online. You talk a little with him/her, talk about the guild a little, and when they're intrested in becoming an apprentice, you should ask what timezone they're in and how often they'll come on.
When both are good, they shouldn't wait any longer in becoming an apprentice.
wOrSt NiGhTmAre - March 15, 2005 03:52 AM (GMT)
That could work quite well, if the time zones arent close enough the mentor can always refer the apprentice to another mentor, correct?
Cpt.Wenis - March 16, 2005 03:42 AM (GMT)
Yes, and you could alway do the forum thing before the game starts, communicating no matter what time it is for the other person.
wOrSt NiGhTmAre - March 16, 2005 05:18 AM (GMT)
But idealy if you want to "interview" a possible apprentice it woul be done in a real-time messaging system like MSN or AOL messengers
Goose21 - March 18, 2005 07:13 AM (GMT)
Yes, but it would still be good to keep track of how well the person does in the game over time to make our final decision on the applicant. :sensei
wOrSt NiGhTmAre - March 18, 2005 08:07 PM (GMT)
Yes but i was saying before they are accepted instead of just forum posting it would be better to have a real time talk
