Title: Amra Und Cortosis
Description: Application post

amr4 - April 2, 2006 09:24 PM (GMT)
Fellow barbarians of the North. We salute you! May the hammer of Thor strike down upon thy enemies,
with great vengance :kaso: . Cortosis and Amra sends their greetings from Norway.

We are two Norvegian Vikings, seeking membership of this fine guild.
Eightteen summers has passed since we last drank our mothers milk, and we have since then divulged our God given abilities in activities and hobbies such as:
Soccer, Hockey, Books, Movies, spending long nights with many a fair maiden (treating them right, but always putting them in their place), and of course computer gaming.

Previous RPG experiences include:
- Baldurs Gate I/II
- Icewind Dale I/II
- Neverwinter Nights
- Knights of the Old Republic I/II
- Anarchy Online
- Star Wars Galaxies
- World of Warcraft
- Diablo I/II
- Dungeon Siege I/II
- Gothic II
- Elder Scrolls of Morrowind
- Elder Scrolls of Oblivion

Amra:
The shorter of the two, Amra is fiery redhead, with a thrist for blood... especially of the innocent. Beeing a big fan of the PvP aspect of WoW, he has great experience in the ways of studying and annahilation of his foes. His temper can be as fiery as the colour of his hair, so be careful when dealing with him! Of the pair, he is less smart, but more athletic and agile. However, his aggressive nature has many a times gotten him into fights, which inevitably led to his defeat. He shows no fear, and never cares to much about odds. He is a faithfull companion in any guild, and always stands up for his friends. So if you are ever in need of assistance he WILL be there to back you up. :barb:
In reallife he is currently in his second year at upper secondary school majoring Biology, Math, Sports and Society Knowledge (Politics stuff).

Cortosis:
Of the two, Cortosis is the large and bulky, made for brute strenght and hard hits. But, he is also the brain of the outfit. Being the academic of the two, his greatest interests lie within History (hence a reason for playing RV). Since Amra does not care about odds and consequences, it falls upon Cortosis to keep him in line. Being more of a PvE man, and a lover of roleplaying and fair game, he likes to be in charge of things, work with buisniess and work with different aspects of classes. He is the econimist, he has a sense of keeping order, he controlls the bank. However, dont mistake him for a softy. He, like his little friend, will always help out a friend in need and always enjoys a good fight/raid/plunder. So, be he a brawler, "sniper/archer" or spearman, he got your back. :starwars:
In reallife he is currently attending his first year in the IB program, majoring English, History and Biology.

As stated in the "bios" we have some aspects to bring to the guild, both in ways of help, combat and just having fun both socially and destructivly ;). Specifically what we can give within speciallisation is still a bit unclear. We are still discussing what we are to do within RV, but most likely most focus (especially Amra) will be combat based. If we get in guild, we will be happy to maybe make choices depending on the guilds needs.

Especially Amra is also highly interested in working with combat tactics, so both of them would be happy to work with tacs aswell :)

However, we do actually also have some ideas to how to run a good barbarien guild, and would be happy to share some thoughts and opinion with you if we are allowed to be apart of it :)

Thoughts include:

- Warband activity
- City Planning
- Banking and economy
- PvP
- Equipment gathering and sharing
- "Raid" rules
- Helping out guildies in need
- And more

To conclude, we hope you will like this application and give us back a positive response.
If not, we might see you in Valhalla, but we garantie you'll be the ones waiting for us :P
Barbarians! We salute you! <3

Hail fellow barbs, glad to see some new faces around here.

First things first, are you two going to make seperate accounts or just use one?

Now thats out of the way, I am interested in what you have to say about warbands, city planning, etc. Most of that has already been discussed, but the topics are old enough to have dust on them (bloody RV, its close to 1 1/2 of delays >.>).

If your willing to give these old blogs a dust and shine we as a guild would be thankful. (note that you have to be accepted first, of course ;) )

Amra, you are taking a wide range of courses there, what do you plan to me later on? I don't know to many scientists taking socials (I suppose is equivalent to your Society Knowledge).

Cortosis, what is the "IB program", I am not familiar with that term. Also what are you learning in Bio. I always found that subject to my favorite (took four courses of it before I dropped it to go into the military).

Thanks Xeno.

To kick off the reply, we can start off by saying, Yes, we will of course be playing on seperate accounts. As stated in the bios above, we will try to make our chars as close to our actual real life personalities.

About our thoughts of guild stuff, we would be more than happy to share our epic ideas if we are to join the guild :) We talk and plan between ourselves all the time and would love some good honest feedbacks. The RV talk is mostly discussed over a kebab or two:P

Well, as said above, considering majoring in the 4 different classes might be slightly exagirated. The Bio and Social classes are my majors, and math and sports are side subjects. In Norway we are using a point system, and with math and natural sciences included, it gives you grade boost. In biology I have covered most of the stuff Cortosis have been trough, tough it aint always as advanced as the IB freak stuff. I like biological part that is not theoretical, like cut up pigs and watch the freaky stuff inside of it. Me like :woot . I actually have a vid where I have opened up a pig, and ripped out his lunges, :woot cut loose the left lung, stuck a rubber tube down the breathing opening :woot , and blew air into the one lung left. It looks awesome, like a weird pink baloon. :cheer

So if you have any questions about...hmmm what shall we say? Why is my urin so yellow, and what is the yellow stuff that smells?:P I might be the person you wanna talk to.

About the social class is where my real interest lie. It is NOT politics as stated later up on the page. It was Corto that edited in that stuff to the app, and I went to sleep. The class is all about human behaviour and social interaction between people. You can go the political way also, but I liked the idea to understand why the humans act like they do. It also go deep inside how the system and the people living under the system act. Like how the rules of a country afflics the people.

What I intend to do after the studies, is to go join the army. I wanna get into a fancy officers academy that gives you the possibilities to advance in rank. After my service duty, ill try to make an application to the Norwegian Police Academy. It demands very good grades, along with athletics achivements. And I think that the officer school will help me alot getting in there.

The main reason I wanna be a copper, is that I dont wanna end up like my dad, in the Oil buisniess(well i may be out on the rig) but not spending each and every day filing stuff.

As you read this stuff you might think that we are brothers, gay lovers or roomates. NONE of this stuff are correct :woot We are neighbours and been playing (dont get this wrong) with eachothers since we where 5 or something.

That was what Amra had to say this time, he appologies for his sometimes nasty humour, but that is how I am! :cheer

Barbariens! We salute you! :barb:

cortosis - April 3, 2006 04:06 PM (GMT)
And so its my turn. I garantie there will be no nasty shit in this one. Thats Amra's job in any case.

Now on to a little bit about me:
The IB...The International Baccalaureate program. So much to say, and I dont really wanna bore you to death with details, but if you want detail feel free to cheack out the site: http://www.ibo.org/
OR if you just wanna see a funny parody written by someone most likely been through the IB check this out: http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/International_Baccalaureate

Anyways, the IB program is basically high school at a slightly higher level for people around 16+ years old. Its an international program invented as an alternative schooling for children who had to travel around the world with their parents alot. It can get very stressful and hard at times (in the final 2 months of IB we have to sit 18 exams) and to quote Oscar Wild (see the parody):
“The IB is the smartest thing a stupid person can do...It is also the stupidest thing a smart person can do. Sort of like riding a beaver” .

All subjects in IB is devided into two levels, high and standard. You have to have 3 of each. I have chosen HL: English, History and Biology, SL: Math, Chemistry and Norwegian.
All HL subjects are approximitly the same level as what you get first year at universities, while SL is normal High School level.

CAS in IB is shortend and stands for Creactivity, Activity and Service. The point of this is that there is no Sports or P.E in IB, so you need to do this kind of stuff outside of school. Activity is sports, Creactivity is.. ehm music, painting or other stuff like that. Service is to do some kind of thing that helps other people, like being part of a charity or just helping the school with stuff. I call it Hippy activity.

The IB course is only tought at my school in the area. Incidentaly, me and Amra attend different schools.

Anyways, the Biology. Lots of theoretical stuff. So far we have covered: Cells, DNA, Genetics, Applied plant and animal science, The Chemistry of Life, Nucleic acidas and proteins, Photosynthesis, Cellular respiration, Plant science.
In future we will be doing other things like evolution, sex, etc, etc. Lots to do :)

All though we have not yet come to the part of biology where we get to disect animals (closest I've come is to cutting a fly :o). However, we have done an experiment where we got to see real DNA. It was kinda disgusting aswell, because we were working with 12 months old fish sperm. God damn the smell of that lab! The experiment was really interesting and stuff, but the highlight was most deffinetly when we were cleaning up after the experiment :D. There was a dude in my class that accidentally got very hot water, mixed with fish semen in his eye and he was running all over the place in a panicked state. He did not substane any injuries ;)

If anyone wanna know more dont hesitate to ask ;)

Hi its Amra again. Just wanted to stop by and tell something I forgot to post earlyer. One of the main reasons I got so exited about this game, was actually a tv program. You might have heard about it, but for all out there that havent, hear me out.

The program is called ROME :) That title gives you some clues about what the show is all about. Dont remember the exact years it is supposed to be from, but it is under the rule of Julius Caesar. The show is 12 episodes if im not wrong, and the time period is from when Ceasar march upon rome, till he gets killed in the senate. The show is extremly well made, it really looks like rome back in the days. It is not a action based serie, it includes: battle formations, much politic, the factions(or houses) how it was to be a soldier in the army, how women was treated and it clearly marks up the differences between the social classes. It is also historical correct, which makes it even more interesting. The main characters however, arent playing a big part in the history, tough they are mentioned in the history books. Most part of their journey are made up by producers and etc. The two main characters are an roman legioneer, and a common roman soldier and the friendship between those guys plays a large role in the serie.

I would reccomend to all of you out there to buy, watch or the barbarien way download it:)

Barbariens! We salute you!

So it's an actual mini series, and not an educational thing? Interesting, I shall have to check it out.

We are currently discussing the likes of you two, and shall report back at a later time.
