Title: Application
Description: Kelwyn Gythech

Kelwyn - February 10, 2006 07:29 PM (GMT)
Hello,

I'm 19 years old , living in Southgermany , 10 miles south of the Donau.
I study Latin , English and History at a "Gymnasium" ( I think it might be the same as a High-School) in the 13class ( the last).

I am very interested in history especially the early celtic , germanic and of course Roman since I were a child. This might be due to the many celtic ruins in the great forests surrounding the village I live in.
Although there are no buildings left ,because they just built wooden villages and shrines you are still able to see lines in the ground (mostly in the great forests on the hill peaks )where their buildings stood. There are also ruins of celtic fortresses and celtic graves of important celtic persons we call " Keltenschanzen" .They mostly ly on hills around the donau .
Many people tend to forget that the origin of the celts was in southgermany from where they expanded into nearly every corner of Europe - even in far regions like to the east of Turkey .
After the german limes were overrun by germanic tribes , the germanic Alemanii , Suebs and Bavarians invaded the region south and around of the donau to the alps and slowly merged with the celts .There is still a great heritage of the southgerman celtic culture - to provide an example there are many rivers and towns called -ach especially at the end of the name- which is celtic and means water .
So I was really amazed as I heard there would be a celtic guild in south germania and I immediately got interested in the guild.

So I have a passion for history but I also like nature very much and love to wander or ride up on the hills and in the great forests germany is full of . I also like take part in some regional medieval festivals with some friends and pals.
I am also political active.

Former games :

Well my first game was "America" a strategic game that was about the american civil war ,made in 1994. Maybe this game was also one reason for my interest in history.
My next game was M.A.X also a strategic game followed by Age of Empires I - I think the best game of the series .
After this I remember having played Baldurs Gate I for a long time and of course Baldurs Gate II.
In 2002 I started with Dark age of Camelot which I played 4 years up to Januar 2006 , shortly interrupted by The Elder Scrolls 3 : Morrowind the Total War series and Cossacks.
In 2003 I found, with some real life friends, an Albion group which focused on realm vs realm combat .I would say we were not that bad.
But in late 2005 we more and more lost fun of the game - especially in rvr and so we decided to go to a new so called "classic" server named Salisbury. This was in december 2005.
We hoped that this would change our weakened daoc "spirit" but at the end it didn't- it even declined more and more.
At the end our group broke off .
So I looked for a new MMORPG game and I found Roma Victor.

The game promised having all the features I was looking for in an MMORPG:

-game and historical depth , - financies and crafting , - opportunity to build up a good, successfull guild or PA - great battles and wars that would influence the game world.

Why I would like to join your guild:

the guild seems to be very mature and sensible - you have quite hard conditions for appliance and I have to say I like that very much.
It shows that the guild does not take everyone but that the guild seeks for elite players , so l337 kiddies who destroy the atmosphere and team gameplay have to stay out - very good.
Furthermore it has a very professional approach and I like many sensible ideas such as the socialistic system or to use Teamspeak /Ventrillo .
I think player quality is much more important than player quantity and your one of the very few guilds who think the same way.
Another thing that attracts me is - it might sound a bit objektive and funny- your beautiful signatures. They -unlike most other signatures -do not show battles etc but this woderful real life landscape which attracts me very much because I'm also a quite natural-romantic guy .By the way , the forests and trees look exactly like the landscape in southern germany .

What I will bring to Brathair Prasgan :
Well I speak a little bit gaelic and old-german and of course Latin - so if you ever need me translating or finding names for something -I'm your man.´
In game I want to specialize as a lumberjack and a warrior but if there should be a lack of "jobs" in the guild I wouldn't mind taking another job.
Furthermore I think I'm not bad in diplomacy and rhetoric so if you need me doing some diplomacy with other tribes etc I might be the right.

Thank you for your interest in Bràthair Prasgan Kelwyn. I am Al (short for Alex, very original) a diplomat for Bràthair Prasgan and I am very appreciative that you have submitted such a thorough application. You say you would like to become a lumberjack and a warrior, well that is possible however once BP gets itself properly established NPC's will do most laborious jobs such as lumberjacking. If you want to become a warrior then there are two possibilities in BP, one you can work a civilian job and be a part time warrior i.e. militia or you can devote 100% of your time into military training. However since you said your flexible BP would probably put you into a required profession. You are clearly an enthusiastic person when it comes to the history of the Germanic era, something which would benefit Bràthair Prasgan and its members. Unfortunately you have submitted an application during a period where most of BP’s members have taken “extended leave”, therefore it will probably take over a week to approve or deny your submission. It would still be wise to regularly check up on your application in case other BP members have any questions. I am satisfied with your application but I do have one question, where does the nname Kelwyn come from?

Kelwyn - February 11, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
I knew I have forgotten something

well there is an old bavarian tale of a celtic hero who slayed a dragon in pre-roman times. He was named Kalwliech and because I have a special passion for wales and welsh I remodeled the name in Kelwyn which sounds more welsh.

Greetings Kelwyn, and welcome to our guild site. I am Xenophon one of the leaders of BP, and if you poked around our forums you would know that I am usually longwinded (so some members keep telling me anyways ;) ).

Sorry I cannot write a long and thought out response to your application but my index fingure is sprained at the moment which makes typing very difficult.

I quoted the above because I wanted to touch on what Al said.

What he means by "Extended Leave" is that most have talked themselves into the ground and are playing different games until the release. This is not to say that they do not come around and check out the forums, its just that we have not had any new members in a while, thus not a whole lot of fresh ideas to chat about.

Now as for questions, >.> damn my fingure, I will answer any you got and will ask some tommarrow which I hope deep cold (a fricken amazing ointment) heals my hand to the point where I can type without wincing.

In any event hope you have fun in Roma Victor, and check out some of topics in the public domain.

Xeno.

Sorry about the late reply but it seems my fingure was screwed up more then I first thought (so bad I couldn't hold a pencil in my hand).

Normally I would have a bucket full of questions, but thats usually because people do a have ass job of making their application and don't bother reading our forums before hand (more fool of them).

So without further ado:

- History is a great area of study, and the more turmoil there is, the more interesting it becomes. Most people who play historical (for lack of a better word) games usually try to place themselves in the shoes of those who lived in that time. My question is this, why did you choose/want to be a diplomat then a gladiator or a barbarian warlord?

- You say you like the idea of teamspeak (I do too which is why I downloaded the software), how come? Do you have a mic? (Note the server has not been up in since the summer due to the fact that I couldn't stand nulli's voice anylonger... joking)

- What would you like too see this guild become? What do you think could use improvement?

- How did you find Roma Victor? Their PR department is, shall we say, resting beside Davie Jones locker.

Thats all I really have at the moment, thanks for checking us out.

Xeno.

Why I would like to be a diplomat then a warrior /barbarian warlord ?

I think most of the people who play RV want to become a Warlord /Warrior .
I thought of taking something different which is rare and also needed .So I thought diplomats being rare and that it would help the guild if I become a diplomat ig and off game.
Another reason why I wrote diplomat is that as I wrote above I'am good with rhetorics -but this is just one little aspect .

But as I've seen Al_ is already a diplomat and so it does not seem to be needed in the guild.
So I would prefer being a warrior or warlord - military is the longer arm of diplomatic.

What qualifies me for doing this is that I played daoc for almost 4 years and took part in a rvr/pvp- professional group which concentrated on 8vs8 fighting ,with some real life friends as I wrote above.
In daoc tactic and senses are quite important and so I think I've trained them a lot - we were quite a successfull group ( I played the maintank btw)and so I could use my sharpened sense of MMORPG tactics in RV skirmishes.
But just in skirmishes with a few warriors - I fear that I could loose control over larger armies/warbands so I would like to concentrate on a little lets say squad that is a part of an army.

But as I wrote above I would also like to do other jobs - jobs that are needed.
But to say the truth I would prefer taking outdoor jobs. So mining or hunting might be jobs for me.
So I could either become a full time warrior or a mixture - doing some outdoor works and also being a warrior ( like most archaic celts/germans did )

Why I like teamspeak (ts)

well our daoc group used ts for almost 3 years - it's as good as impossible to play daoc professional without teamspeak.(Daoc is much more e-sport like in Europe than in the USA )
So I have two microphons .

How did you find Roma victor ?

well after I put an end to daoc I searched for a new mmorpg. So I searched for MMORPG with google and saw MMORPG.com ^^ including a preview of Roma Victor .

I was thinking of playing DAoC, but I am not one for monthly fees.

Thanks for answering my questions you should hear back from the guild in a few days.

oh I just saw I've forgotten to answer one question

Well I would like to see the guild becoma a team who works together to achieve a common goal.
I would like to becoma a part of this team and want to help the guild with my "skills ( in game skills , knowledge , historical (military , cultural) knowledge , and to take over responsiblity where it is needed btw maybe I could give some real life geographical help to find out our village location although I dont think this will work but its worh a try )

I was wondering why you didn't answer that :D

Glad you value team work, and willing to help out the guild in whatever it needs.

I am forwarding our guild password and access to our private forums hope to see you around, Xeno.
